  1. I was sleeved because i had a band slippage which also was causing other issues at the same time.
  2. My ratio of carbs consumed is about 30-40mg daily. Calories i consume approx 1500.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Wanted to ask you all if having a hiatal hernia is a cause or can it cause weight gain? I got sleeved in May 2015 and a few weeks ago my surgeon did an EGD and he found that i have a hiatal hernia which i think is way to early since i am only 1 year post-op and also mild dilation. My weight has been fluctuating alot recently and now i am seeing numbers that i had not seen in a long time. I'm a 6"1 male and i was always at the 180-182 mark but now my weight is hovering at the 188-190 mark.. my diet and routine has been consistent which also makes me feel somewhat frustrated with this weight gain. if anyone has any information please share. I am going back to see the surgeon in 2 weeks to discuss the results and see what is the next course of action. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I am aware that calories do cause weight gain. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    3 day post op

No sugar free ice cream. Stay away from that. It contains dairy and when on liquid diet you are restricted to just pure Clear liquids. Also the fact you tried pudding is not good. I know the frustration because we all have gone thru it but it will get better. You are only a couple days post op. Hang in there.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Starbucks

I know the feeling. Went thru it myself but once you get the green light from the surgeon then indulgence will make a come back Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  7. 17 months post op with band revision to sleeve.. egd results showed a 1.2cm hiatal hernia, mild gastritis and esophagal dilation. Has anyone experienced this? I am very concerned because sleeve is only 17 months post op and i am having issues fairly soon.. i also have a PH monitor to track my acid levels for the next 96 hrs.. 8. Just had an EGD done today and the results show that i have mild dilation of the esophagus, mild gastritis and also a hiatal hernia..my surgeon did the doplar test to measure the acid levels in the stomach and now i have to carry this device around my neck for 96 hrs to monitor my acid levels when i eat/drink, sit for prolonged times and also while i sleep.. i was sleeved in May 2015. The initial reason for the surgeon to to the EGD was because my weight has been fluctuating up and down. Now that the results came in I can sorta pin point into the reasons as to why the weight has been the way it is. Has anyone else experience these same symptoms? And also what are the solutions to these problems especially the hiatal hernia. I know some hernia's do not need surgery and some do need it.. also with the dilation is that something of concern when it comes to weight gain.. surgeon did say that the overall anatomy of the sleeve is good and no leaks noted. 9. Wanted to ask how much coffee are many sleevers with more than a year out after surgery consume on a daily basis. I have heard of some sleevers consuming 16-20 oz of coffee. Also what about latte's from starbucks or any other coffee chain. What sizes of coffee do many of you consume? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I am 16 months out since getting the sleeve. Had revision from band to sleeve. Now in this maintenance phase i see that it is much harder to maintain the weight loss since the " honeymoon" period is basically over and now the hard part of this lifestyle begins. I been going up and down with weight. I was down to 179 lbs and now i see my weight going up and down to 185-188 lbs range. Don't know what to expect now in this stage and also the reality that now i am going like a yoyo with my weight. I am aware that after one year you are more hungrier and the ghrelin hormone does climb up more. Need pointers from fellow sleevers on what their experience has been and i know many or some of you can relate to my situation. Thank you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Alcohol after WLS

Alcohol is either right or left for many bariatric patients. Since getting the sleeve my alcohol sensitivity is very high and i barely have some alcohol in my body to automatically feel the effects of it. My wife has the bypass and she consumes wine as her sole alcohol source and drinks wine like is nothing which has created a tolerance level for her much larger. 12. Dulcolax is the way for me. I take it on and off to help with the constipation.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  13. I am 16 months out from having gastric sleeve and have yet tried to eat greens ( lettuce) because i am afraid of not digesting it properly in my stomach. Any sleevers out there can help with pointers in how to eat salads and incorporate it to my eating plan. Been craving a nice salad but been hesitant not to try it. 14. I had a revision from band to sleeve on 5/19/15. It has been 16 months now and I had achieved what I was expected to drop in weight. I am aware that I had not much to drop since I was only 230 pounds. I'm 6'1 in height. I had dropped down to 180 pounds and had been weighing for a while now between the 181-185 range consistently.. In the past month or so I have noticed that now I have added 7 pounds and have started to be very concerned because nothing has changed on the approach/routine in my daily life. I consume over 100grams of Protein daily, drink at least 96oz of Water, take my multi-Vitamins, do exercise (walking) for 1.5 hrs and the scale reflects a different story. Don't want to hit the panic alarm but i guess is natural to be concerned especially since nothing has changed for me personally. I know i have heard and read stories from fellow sleevers that have had to be re-sleeved due to pouch stretching/enlargement. I surely do not want to think of that especially since it has been only 16 months since I got the revision done. All my labs are normal and the surgeon did a quick swallow test (upper GI series) in his office and said that the sleeve looked good/normal. I'm supposed to be gettting an EGD done in the next few days so the surgeon can check. Any comments will be appreciated. Just feel a bit frustrated because I don't want to think or believe that wrong about the sleeve because I don't regret getting it done. It has done good to me and for me. Just want to keep on maintaining the healthy lifestyle I have.
  15. Went to surgeon today and he will do an EGD to check the sleeve completely to see if there is anything wrong. According to him all looks normal and ok and he advised that the " honeymoon " period of dropping weight quickly is over and now the maintenance phase is the new horizon for me and now the hard part begins because I need to sustain this new lifestyle. Lets see what the EGD results say.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Maybe i need to increase my caloric intake since you are eating over 2000 calories in the maintenance phase
  17. Thyroid functions are normal Im seeing the surgeon tomorrow. Lets see what he says. Hoping that is nothing wrong overall
  18. I consume i say under 30g of carbs daily. My main source of food is purely Protein. Average i consume between 100-125mg daily.. For Breakfast i will have a shake ( 40-45g of protein), lunch i will have lean meats ( 30-35 grams) and for dinner the same as lunch.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  19. I am more hungrier and now since I'm on the maintenance phase my portions are more than before. the size of my meal is 8-10 oz. my caloric intake is in the range of 1000-1250..

    Protein bars ?

Quest bars are a must have in your pantry cabinet. they are a great source of Protein when on the run or on the go.. Also I highly recommend OH YEAH One bars. The texture is smooth and chewy plus it comes in many good flavors such a birthday cake and cinnamon roll. 21 grams of protein and only 1 gram of sugar. Net carbs is between 4-5 grams depending on the flavor of the bar..
  21. Just received reading for my lipids as follow: total cholesterol is 245mg HDL is 99 mg LDL is 132 mg Triglycerides is 66 mg Cholesterol/HDL Ratio 2.5 LDL/HDL Ratio 1.34 Based on these ratings even though the total cholesterol is 245mg but my HDL is at a whopping 99mg which is great. And according to the newly standards my total cholesterol number it's consider borderline elevated or high elevated. Looking for fellow sleevers with same or similar situatuon to chime in and give their opinion. I don't want make sure I take care of this because would not want to deal with something down the road. Please advise. Thanks !!
  22. feel frustrated and worried at the same time.. Just hit the one year mark with my sleeve. I'm 6'1 male and I was 179 lbs but for the past 10-14 days days I have gained 6 pounds but nothing has changed from my routine. I do my intake of Protein (70-90g), Water (64-80oz), exercise (2 hour walk) but it seems strange to me and odd that i have gained weight when nothing has changed. i don't want to start worrying about something being wrong with my sleeve but any feedback from all of you out there is much appreciated. I know that it is normal to fluctuate with +/- pounds but for almost two weeks now i just been gaining weight and it does not show sign of coming down.

    unexplainable weight gain

I do suffer from constipation but i have it under control. Don't have anything else or taking any medication that will trigger holding of water weight. I have a nutritionist that i follow up with. don't know if i should pay her a visit. I'm scheduled to see my surgeon in 2 weeks if by then this does not get better i will for sure address it with him.
  24. What is the normal amount of food you can actually tolerate after one year with the sleeve? I feel as I can eat way more, hunger levels have increased. I now that after the one year mark is all about maintenance from here on. Any suggestions on any nutritional plans or guidelines would be appreciated.. Thanks
