    2 days post op

Mix your powder in a small amount of cool water until it is like a creamer then add it to the soup.
  2. 8 and a half hours left until surgery. Nervous, very nervous.

You'll do fine! Have faith! You've done all your research, know your surgical team and staff, have all prepared for your time at home, so relax and think about your future as a healthy, happy person! Start planning for fun things, like what you will be able to do, and what you'll wear doing those activities!

My husband has his cancer surgery in less than 2 weeks, but he is not nervous at all! I have faith that you will both do fine, and I leave you in God's capable hands to take of you both. God speed!!! And let us know how you do!

Thank you so much CanyonBaby! I will do my best to keep all of this in mind for the next few hours. I would sleep but I am afraid of missing my alarm. (Magically I tend to disable them while still sleeping)

I wish your Husband all the good recovery too! :)

    Protein powder

I'm pretty sure it is okay. My surgical team actually (tried to) require it for the first few weeks.

    My love for Starbucks!

Ah there ya go! She told me without the drizzle I assumed it was choc drizzle apparently it's caramel. My daughter has given up sugar because of an inflammatory joint condition so she asked her friend what she could still have. Sadly no more iced chai lattes for her, the chai syrup has sugar. If she likes chai lattes maybe have her try a brewed chai tea with cream and sf vanilla syrup? It isn't quite the same but it is close and yummy

    Tattoos

Get as much liquid as you can, keep your protein high and try moderate weight lifting. Also vitamin E oil rubbed into the skin. These things will help 'tighten' up the skin and preserve your tatts as much as possible. Keep in mind, however that genetics and age plays a big role in how your skin 'bounces back' too, as does vitamin intake.

    I can't wait to.....

    Yes please. This.
  7. Hello Nikki! I'm Sydney, 24 years old, and I am actually having surgery on the 29th of September. I'd be happy to kind of walk through my surgery with you so you know what to expect if you like
  8. Ugh, just remembered blood work tomorrow.... Guess it is time to drink enough water to drown a fish.

It makes me easier to poke so no needle fishing. :) I really hate needles so anything that makes it easier on them so it will be easier on me.

    I can't wait to.....

I can't wait to enjoy taking the dog out! I love my furry baby but right now I am exhausted all the time and don't find joy in our walks. Also being able to pick up a bathing suit wherever and having it fit and not look like I'm stuffing 8lbs of dough in a 5lb container! I want to be active and energetic, going on adventures and slaying my imaginary dragons (or inviting them to tea, whichever).
  10. I have surgery on the 29th too, but I only have a 3 day diet and it is 2 shakes and 1 small healthy meal (with 2 protein snacks). I definitely lucked out, apparently.
  11. 8 Days and Counting Down.... Time to Scrub House!

Yeah, you know how it is...so surprised , AND unhappy about it (for whatever reason), so they don't say anything, but you can tell by the look of shock on their faces!!!! Ah, satisfaction, at last!!!

Good idea, doing the measurements! Can't wait to hear of your successes!!!

Ugh, well at least they kept their comments to their selves! Enjoy their shock and they can keep the pettiness :)

      Thank you so much!

I HATE exercising! What Should I do?!

If you like shopping, go to a large mall and just sort of look around. Walk around clothing stores, picking out styles for as you lose weight, check out book shops. Just explore. It is getting your walk in without making it seem like a vile chore and three hours later you will wonder where the time has gone!

    Call the Bariatrics police!

So some people asked for information on "Why Alcohol Is Bad" post surgery. (Particularly directly after) Most of it has to do with wound healing. As people have said, your stomach has a large 'wound' in it from the surgery. There are many studies which describe the effect of alcohol, however this is one of my favorites. For those who don't have time to go through it all: "In summary, acute ethanol exposure can lead to impaired wound healing by impairing the early inflammatory response, inhibiting wound closure, angiogenesis, and collagen production, and altering the protease balance at the wound site. As mentioned previously, the host response to chronic alcohol exposure appears to be different from that of acute alcohol exposure. Analysis of clinical data indicates that chronic alcohol exposure causes impaired wound healing and enhanced host susceptibility to infections, but the detailed mechanisms that explain this effect need more investigation." Do what you want to do. We are all big girls and boys here, however know the risks and benefits of all of your actions.
  16. I haven't had surgery yet, but my mother has and she swears by the Gas-X thin strips (mint). Keeps a case of them lying around (Yes, not a box. A case)
  17. I desperately want to do the zombie race. It is one of my goals post-op.
