  1. Years ago I had a mentor teach me to do a weekly average for weight to be able to track true fat loss vs. Water weight. I find it helps because I don't stress over the daily number, it's only the one at the end of the week when I calculate it that matters :) I'm a week ahead of you I think :) I had surgery June 1st. I miss caffeine lol A LOT. I'm struggling to get in 64 oz. of Water right now...I wish I could get back to my gallon a day like I was pre-op. I have to remind myself that when I get in all of my fluids I feel better the next day.

  2. Okay... But what about their post is a LIE? You seem so caught up in them LYING. Whether they look good or not is clearly open to debate and how someone responds is open to debate but those are all opinions, where is the LIE?

It's not the people in the photo lying, it is in the people responding I see lying... And I'm not talking about the before and after posts or the progress pictures. I'm taking specifically about the people who post pictures and ask for an opinion. For example a young lady who had lost almost100# but still a ways from goal, posted a couple of pictures the other day on one of the face book groups I'm in. She had an event coming up and wanted some feedback about 2 possible dress choices. The first dress was a skin tight short cocktail type sheath that showed every bulge she had left and made her seem heavier than she really was. 2nd dress was also a shorter cocktail dress but had a flair skirt that hid the bulge and was very flattering. Due to different makers they were a size different. Looking at the pictures you would have thought that dress #1 was a before picture and #2 the after. Yet a large number of women told her to buy #1 simple because it was an 8 and not a size 10. To me that is lying and doing a disservice to the people we are suppose to be supporting.

  3. @@CanyonBaby I'm sorry you had a rough week. I hope your husband beats his cancer! You are right this IS unimportant. That's why I posted my little rant in this category. It's just something that I keep coming back to in my head as I read other posts especially on Facebook. It leaves me with a feeling of dishonesty (not the word I'm searching for) that is disquieting. Perhaps I'm completely over analyzing it.

  4. I guess in my head it isn't positive enforcement if it is a lie. And I would NEVER post something worded as I did in my original post above, that would be horribly mean and cruel, But I see zero constructive criticism like "try a different bra" or "perhaps a different cut would be more flattering" on posts asking for opinions. It is all "you look amazing"

  5. Ok...I'm Pre-op, having surgery June 1st...but I've researched and been a part of the WLS groups for 20 years, I'm not the new kid on the block.

But I just joined several of the Facebook groups...What is up with lying to people about how they look??? People lying to me and my own self denial of how I looked is what got me up to 376! I am not going to sugar coat my response if you ask me how you look! EDITED TO ADD: I WOULD NEVER SAY/POST THE FOLLOWING THINGS THEY ARE STRICTLY IN MY HEAD. I am not (normally) a mean or cruel person. I'm so happy that you are down into a size 12 from a 22...but you REALLY need to be in a 14 because that dress is so tight I can see the outline of your pubic hair through that dress!

"Looking FINE in the neighborhood!" - Not really...unless you are the neighborhood harlot. Does WLS drain your brain cells with the fat cells?? I understand the desire to show off the hard work and the new you...but try to retain a bit of dignity and class...but perhaps those things don't really exist for most of us any more...because it seems like goal weight equals skank time clothes...

I try to refrain from replying to posts where people ask for opinions about how they look in their new outfit just for this reason...I'm not going to lie to you if you look bad, and I don't want to offend...but at the same time if it was me I would want someone to have the guts to say "Maybe you need to get a different bra because that dress was not designed for the sagging you are doing in the current bra" or "perhaps you might want to rethink those jeans...they are sucked so far up your crack you can probably taste the lycra in them!"

    I know I'm a horrible person...but it's what I think!

  6. I love Monster Java Energy drinks, but I know that I won't be able to drink them after surgery because of the high carbs and sugar.

Have any of you use Guarana after surgery for energy? I take it in pill form occasionally to help me stay alert. Works much better than caffeine for me, but I can't seem to find any info about it in regards to having VSG. I'm getting it mixed with organic coconut Water and using in my mid-day Protein shake and it is AWESOME...just hoping I can keep using it after surgery!
