I'm only 12 days post-op, but what the heck. Cw: 358 GW: 330
  4. Good luck all you June folks, will see you on the losers bench soon. Advice: drink and elk as much as possible the first two days post surgery.. Helps everything..
  5. I was sleeves on May 20th and I'm 25, you're not alone! ????I was sleeved in the 26th and I'm actually 21! The whole no-alcohol thing seems to be the hardest for me right now because all of my friends are having birthdays and the bar is where we all seem to hang out now!Awesome! I'm so glad to finally find some people on here around my age. Not that everyone here hasn't been super helpful, I just feel like it's such a different experience going through this when we're young. It's a fairly new procedure for weight - loss and we're going to be living with it for a long, long time! I agree the non-alcohol thing is difficult. I pretty much told my friends I'd be going into hibernation for a couple of months since most of our activities have revolved around alcohol. I'm going to make it work though and still find ways to go out and have fun until then. We should definitely all keep in touch since we were sleeved at the same time and will be going through all the stages together. lest one of us oldsters remind you of the caloric level of alcohol, I for one was certainly enabled towards my current condition by 5 years in undergrad and four years in grad school. And 4 years in the marines ( lots of consumption their).I don't envy you guys having to surf that right of passage wave knowing what you know and have to do. Will take lots of will.. You can do it..
  6. good luck, see you on the other side. Remeber, drink and walk as much as your can..
  7. drain removal should be painless, it's just...weird.. Goodluck

completely agree, I'm going to only try new foods at home for awhile. I can imagine great embarrassment occurring at restaurants if I got the urge to try something completely untried.... Ugh.

  13. this hunger this early was mental hunger for me.. Keep drinking and it will get easier to manage.
  14. Katie! I am also just over 2 weeks post-op and I have found that a couple of those days I have seemed to gain a bit also...but have heart, also a day or two after I loose it and more...probably just hormone fluctuations or depends of you have peed, had a bm, what you ate, time of day, etc. lots of factors As long as it keeps going down, you are good I know it can be a bummer to see though...I was never one to keep getting on the scale but I find myself doing it at least once maybe twice a day We are still AWESOME!! Blessings!my advice, pick one day a week and let that be your weigh in day. Physiologically, you can retain lose water in a day plus other foods (fibrous vs. liquid, etc). A week gives your body time to equalize.. This weight loss is a marathon, not a sprint.. Focus on the longer term... Good luck
  15. yes it gets better, walk as much as possible as often as possible, it stretches you out gently and moves the gas..
  16. I can't attest to the hearing the noise, but for the coughing, I've been so nervous too! I'm getting over a bad cold from pre-surgery still and I had a coughing fit today, and it hurt my stomach so badly! I was so afraid I was going to open an incision or cause a leak!if you feel a cough coming on, grab a pillow and hold it against your stomach for support. It helps..
  17. get the web belts, they are adjustable and you can cut the ends off as the get too long..

OMG week 2 and I am so hungry

Vsg dessert night!!: 1: load family up and find nearest self-serve frozen yogurt shop (TCBY) worked for us. 2. Ask for a few sample cups or spoons to try some flavors 3: while family is deciding and getting theirs, try all the different flavors (built in small portions and slow consumption). 4: total consumption is about 2 ounces and cost nothing and adds some Protein (according to mfp). 5: couldn't find a flavor I liked (wink) and head home. awesome!!!!!!!! Anyone else have great tricks like this? I'm thinking BaskinRobbins is next, eight or nine sherbet types in there..

    Had my drain removed today

Hi Craig. I was draining around 30 cc every 6 hours or so but the doc said it's not so much the amount of liquid as it is its color. It has to look least bloody... more yellowish/brownish because we produce peritoneal liquid naturally every day. When all you are draining is this liquid then it can be removed. Still have to get your doc's ok before removing it to make sure. Good luck!thanks for this. I'm seeing the doc today, maybe it will be removed since I seem to be about the same status as you describe.saw the doc today, drain removed, all is good.

    May 19th Date...

Ok had my follow up today and following are latest stats. Height: 6'2" Program start weight: 394 Surgery day weight: 376 First post op weight: 363 (day 9 from surgery) 31 lbs down, on the way to goal weight of 233 lbs. Drain removed (weird feeling, there was an extra foot in there y'all!) all ports are clear and showers ok'ed. I'm now on purée foods and celebrated with a skinless baked potatoe with cheese, butter and sour cream mashed together into paste. I chewed well and made it 20% into it before full. Now I have 4 more meals in the fridge. Would love some ideas for puréed meals.. Need to get more Protein, only making about 50 grams in a day. And need to eat more times a day. I'm going to look into purée tuna salad, seafood salad, etc. Still no strength training, but work out cautiously. Going to start some basic classes back.. All in all, feeling good...
  21. realize the nerves are normal, and everyone has them. Drink as soon as possible and walk as soon as possible. But listen to your body as well..

    Turn the page

your story is similar to mine.. Only I forgot to ask for the kayak ( great idea).. I'm 8 days post op and not regretting the decision. There will be set backs and questions. But your making a decision based on logic and data, this is what you should always fall back on when questions, concerns arise. Good luck and see you on the other side. Ps: I want to row a boat in lake Washington (Seattle area). You know those really thin racing rowboats? Can't weight.....

OMG week 2 and I am so hungry

My wife made a package of instant mashed potatoes, then refrigerates it. I scoop a table spoon out, add some chicken broth and a little butter and nuke it. Probably the equivalent of creamy potatoe soup, but I'm to cheap to throw away expensive soups because can't finish them. It's not like they sell them by the spoonful ( which is what I need).. " hi, I'll like one chicken nugget and two French fries please." "is that a 4, 6 or 10 piece nugget?" " it one single nugget and two individual fries!"
