  1. I'm scheduled to have band removed and revised to sleeve June 12th and I'm going through all these different feelings. Excited. Nervous. Ready. Not ready. Is this normal??? Dr. Clayton Frenzel is my surgeon.

    Hi Kellarsmom,

I had my band to sleeve revision with a hiatal hernia repair by Dr. Clayton Frenzel on 5/18. The surgery was very successful and I've lost 26 pounds thus far. Dr. Frenzel and his staff are great and very supportive. They're always there to answer any concerns or questions. Feel free to reach out with any questions...you'll do great!! Good luck and see you on the losers bench ????

  2. Hi May sleevers,

I had my surgery on 5/18 and I've lost 22 lbs since my pre-op. Losing pretty slow I think. I went for my 2 week post-op today and the surgeon was pleased with my results so far. She did tell me I was dehydrated and if I didn't increase my Fluid intake I could be hospitalized. Working on increasing my Water, Protein and food. I'm sure this is why I still feel weak, lethargic and dizzy all the time. I feel like I'm getting better, but my weight has been stalling and creeping up, not going in the desired direction (down). I walk almost 10k steps a day, I'm just ready to lose????

  3. Thank you ladies! I'm typically the one who tries to be strong for everyone else, thank you for allowing me to be vulnerable, this is such a safe place.

I did eat a Popsicle and I plan on going to the store tomorrow to buy some good Soups. I feel better, just a little down. I guess I'm missing food.

Thanks again for helping me be strong ????????

  4. Hello fellow sleevers,

I am 8 days post op today, and I am ravishingly hungry! It's weird because if I take a few sips of my Tomato basil Soup, it feels weird going down and I won't want anymore. I want to chew and I want something tasty. None of the broths or Soups that I have are hitting the spot.

Any ideas/suggestions are welcome! I'm miserable at the moment, can't tell if it's head hunger or actual hunger. I think my body is tripping out because I haven't had food in almost two weeks.

    Thanks for listening (reading)...????????

  5. Hey buddies! I am 6 days post op. 2nd day without pain medicine. However I have a pulling feeling on my right side where everything was removed. I find I can't sit still too long or even stand too long without getting uncomfortable. I didn't find that the pain meds helped that much with that feeling. I am probably getting about 50 oz of fluids a day, but not nearly enough Protein. I am doing Ensure and Protein shakes but they go RIGHT through me. Super nervous to go to work tomorrow from an energy standpoint. Down about 20 lbs from start of pre op diet. How r the rest of the buddies doing?

    Hi Shay,

Be sure to share with us how your first day back at work went. I am afraid to return so soon, I still get very tired real easily and I'm still taking my pain meds, although I've tapered them down quite a bit.

I wish I could poop, no luck in that dept. I just don't have the urge to go. I'm having a hard time with the protein too!

  6. Hi buddies!

I'm six days post op and everyday seems to get a little better, easier. I've been able to get in my 48oz Fluid requirement, but I must admit it is very very difficult to get in my Protein intake. The taste of the Isopure and the Premier Protein is disgusting to me. I was definitely able to tolerate the taste of the Premier pre-surgery. I drink my Water, broth and watered down juices pretty well.

The gas pain has not been as bad as I thought it would be. When I had my Lapband the pain seemed to awfully last a long time, but this time not so much. I have suffered with acid reflux more this go round, the Pepcid AC and the prescription seems to help. It feels great to pass gas (fart) and burp.

I try to walk as often as I can, although I think I can do better with this. I only get in about 1000 steps a day. I get wiped out pretty easily. I find that I've been sleeping quite a bit (and I feel guilty about that).

I still have the internal pain and I take the pain meds as needed. I still haven't had a BM, is this normal for you all? I also still have some inflammation and swelling in my belly.

Here is where I've progressed from to today:

    Sw: 232

    Surgery day weight: 219-220

    Cw: 210

I'd love to hear how all of my other buddies are doing ????????????

  7. I'm four days post op and I feel much better today. I haven't taken any pain meds yet, or had any gas meds yet. I did get really weak earlier when I was in the shower and pretty much passed out afterwards. My goal has been to get in my fluids, walk as much as possible and use my incentive spirometer.

I still get wiped out very easily.

  8. I had my surgery on Monday, luckily I've barely had gas pains. I've been farting (excuse me) with no problems. And if I feel gas in my tummy I take a Gas-x strip. Walking helps as well.

I agree with Twitty, I'm 3 days post-op too, I had a band to sleeve revision with a hernia repair. I am so surprised that the gas pain hasn't been horribly bad, I try to walk as often as I can, just mainly around my house, I do take 2 gas x strips at once every few hours. I mainly feel it when I swallow, I think I'm swallowing air with the small sips, I'd rather drink out of a straw.

We're all in this thing together, I do know for sure it will improve with time. ????????

  9. Hi everyone, just thought I would provide an update since Monday's revision surgery. I was happy when I awoke out of surgery and the doc said they were able to remove my band completely, I had very little scar tissue and they fixed my hiatal hernia and I got my sleeve!!

Day 2 and I am really starting to feel much better. The nausea is subsiding, I haven't had to vomit and I was able to get in all my meds including my Vitamins. I must admit that it does take awhile to digest, and can actually feel it going slowly down my esophagus down into my stomach.

The gas pain is better and the overall pain is getting better too. I was even able to walk to the corner of my neighborhood ????

I've been working really hard to get in my Protein, I've had about 6 ozs today. It just hurts in my chest when I swallow. Anyway, other than that, I've just been lying around today, the tramadol makes me really sleepy.

Hope this posts helps someone who is looking for immediate post op expectations, although we all know that everyone is different.

    Surgery day 220

    Today 217

  10. Thanks all! They released me from the hospital around 10:30 last night. I must admit, I had a very very rough night. Lots of nausea and vomiting, I didn't really have much in my stomach so it was a lot of painful dry heaving with blood from the surgery. The meds that my doctor prescribed me for pain (Tylenol with codeine) made me really sick, luckily I had some hydocodone left over from a previous car accident it helped some. Then I begin to experience the horrible pain of acid reflux. It burned like hell. They hadn't prescribed me anything for that, so I suffered all night and this morning from that. I called my doc and he prescribed me

meds, and gave me permission to take a Zantac that I had. After I took the Zantac I was able to relax for about 2 hours at a time. So between the vomiting, heart burn and gas it was the worse. Surprisingly, I haven't had much incisional pain, it does hurt some, but not even as bad as the initial lapband surgery in 2011.

I have been able to get in most of my fluids, but it is hard. I started my Protein this afternoon and I've been able to get in about 6 oz. I'm just really thirsty for Water, but you do have to sip, sip, sip, where as before I gulped, gulped, gulped my Water.

Thanks everyone for your support. Would like to know how my other May 18th buddies are doing.

  11. Well it's surgery day! I've arrived at the surgery center, I'm IV'd, I've talked to my surgeon and anesthesiologist, and now just waiting to go back.

No nerves, really, I just had a restless night so I'm kinda sleepy. My only hope is that he will be able to remove my band and do my sleeve surgery today. He said 85% of the time there are no issues. I'm praying that the odds are in my favor.

Well I'll see you all on the losers bench! ????????

  12. I defintitely understand everyone's pain!

I'm on my third day of my pre-op and I cheated yesterday for Cinco de mayo (added more calories than I should have consumed, plus I had a margarita).

Today, I've been on the straight and narrow, but I'm at work and they have homemade German chocolate Cake in the breakroom and I'm like, "damn I want some" and damn it keeps calling me! But I ate my allowed sugar free jell-o and I'm out of here in in 30 minutes. So glad to have this forum to share with you all who empathize with my pain and growling stomach!

Surgery day is T-minus 12 days away!! #May18th
