  1. Minxie...im only 1.5 weeks out and ive heard of this stall several times. It happens at 3 weeks then could happen every time your diet changes ex: from liquid to pureed, pureed to soft etc...I think jus tkeep doing your plan and it eventually breaks. I have also heard Atkins shakes aren't the best and too much fruit could be sabotaging yourself. I drink premier Protein shakes and am only on full liquids so no fruit for me yet. I think you are supposed to be getting 60-80 grams Protein and 64 oz Fluid ...always protein first...so maybe eat the yogurt or cottage cheese then the fruit if you need more. As I said I am new to this as well so following your specific plan is best.

There is also a Facebook group that is closed and no one can see your posts...its called baratric eating support, I have found this very helpful as I learn day by day!!

    Good luck in your journey!!

  2. Hello...I have UHC through my husbands job in Louisiana...had to do 3 month supervised weight loss program with psych eval and 3 nutritionist visits, one year history from PCP, and some things required by the surgeon. UHC will pay if I have it done by a UHC physician in a UHC facility and my total out of pocket will end up being around $1000 (&250 to meet my deductible, $500 for surgeon and a few other small costs) but my hospital stay will be 100% covered. It took them less than 24 hours after submittal to approve and I will be having surgery on Sept 8 yay!!!

I began with a BMI of 40 and truns out I have sleep apnea and elevated liver enzymes...so I guessing thats why such fast approval!!!

Check with your UHC to see if there are stipulations about UHC physicians or facilities because at first glance our insurance says they do not cover WLS at all....helps to dig!!!

    Good luck to everyone!!

  3. Congratulations on your surgery approval and date!! Your journey seems a bit longer than most but you have made it and in 4 weeks you will be on a new path to health!

I also got my surgery date today...it will be September 8 pending all goes well with my consent signing with the dr and all pre-ops are fine!!!! Im so excited! I had to do 3 months supervised weigh ins with the NP and nutritionist visits, a psych eval, gallbladder us, upper gi series, and some documentation that I have had an ongoing weight problem!!!

50 will be fabulous on you!!!!! Good luck on your continued journey!

  4. I also have UHC in Louisiana...my requirements were 40bmi without comorbidity and 0ver 35 bmi with...So I was at about a 40 bmi but after sleep study and labwork i evidently have sleep apnea and elevated liver enzymes that should get me approved. The high bp if documented at your primary care physician should be in your records...get those copies to your weight loss doctor when you go to show comorbidity. My doctor in LAfayette seems great and willing to work with you.

  5. I'm still about a month out for a surgery date but I have incorporated Protein Shakes for my breakfast...not being a breakfast eater, i think it has helped me get into habit of having something instead of starving myself until lunch. I've also stopped all caffeine and carbonated drinks...not terribly hard for me since I wasnt a big drinker of those anyway. I do however really miss sweet tea :(

I have also bought a 32 oz plastic (bpa free of course) mason jug from wal mart that I try to drink two of every day while at work to practice getting in all that Water. Good luck everyone in your journey...here's to being a big loser!!! I cant wait!

  6. Let yourself feel the emotions that you are having. Let yourself cry. Let yourself scream. Let yourself fall apart in order to feel the emotions of losing a child. There is no greater pain and I am so sorry for your loss. Give yourself time to process all that has happened in your life. food will not fix it...find comfort in family and friends. Take long walks and talk to your son...tell him all the things you area feeling. Pray if that is what you do. Find a way to just breathe and take one second at a time.

Again so very sorry for your loss.
