    July sleevers?

I am, but trying to not think like that. If anything thinking of everything that could go wrong makes me even more nervous.
  4. How are my July 21 buddies feeling? Tomorrows the big day! I'm very nervous, scared, and excited. My stomach is in knots for what's ahead.

    Any tips?

I found that it wasn't too bad to manage, however today is the day before surgery liquid diet so I want everything, lol. But I found other things to keep me occupied. I always have my water bottle and premier protein drinks on my desk at work, and water with me at home. You just gave find what works for you.

    Plus Size

I too eagerly want to depart the plus size section. Living in a rural area the only places to get plus size clothes in an hour radius is Walmart, Shopko, and Mauries, and somewhat at Christopher Banks. Mauries is generally where I shop, but they're often out of what ever size I need. Focusing first on departing the sizes in the 20s, then the countdown can really begin. Heck, I'll be excited to shop Old Navy in store again.

    Not losing weight

DH experienced this and I told him to stop weighing himself daily because he was becoming frustrated. Instead he altered what he ate and things picked up again. Plus if you are doing measurements, you may still see a decrease there even if the scale doesn't reflect one.
  10. I've started journaling with my pre-op diet. I track my measurements weekly and then write a few details about what I experienced that week. Any victories or challenges. Hoping it will be nice to reflect on later.

    Am I the only one?

I'd love a compliment like that. It would make my day, even if it wasn't true. I've found that it's the little things that do it, like a compliment from a stranger on my hair. If it makes me smile then it's good enough. No one has said anything to me today, but I looked in the mirror this morning and thought to myself, 'I look good'! It may be spanx like undershirt, but my pants feel a smidge looser and my torso a little less lumpy
  13. I felt like the ball was dropped by my case manager and waiting for final approval, but I learned that being persistent and following up on all phone conversations has helped to get things back on track. Glad to hear that things were moved forward as planned.
  14. My surgery will be taking place on the tentative date that they gave me. My insurance approved the surgery that same week. The hold up was on my doctor signing off. So from the time that I was given a date to the day of my surgery was only a month. The big day is a week from today!

    Preop diet Confession

I've learned that with the pre-op diet you have to be self disciplined to avoid all possible obstacles, but alas we are only human. It's challenging when you are caring for others. They need to eat, you have to cook and grocery shop. You have to take care of them and any other obligations that you had prior to planning for surgery. I will be honest and say that the first 5 days I did fantastic! Then the weekend and a Girl Scout camping trip hit. I failed a little, but made sure that I made good choices with Protein and low carbs. Monday came and I'm back on target. What's better is that I remind myself that I've lost 16 pounds since the beginning of June. The work pants that I'm wearing today feel a little looser in the thighs, not much but slightly. It's a victory to me that I'll take. Don't beat yourself up. Set goals and work to achieve them. If you need to view each day as a victory then do it. It takes time to change habits, but you're working on it.

    migraines

I get them and that's been a concern of mine, especially with the food intake restrictions. The last thing I need is a shot in my behind to break it up. My doctors office told me to continue taking my medication now and after surgery since its small enough to swallow. Good luck.
  17. I told my boss that I apologize in advance for any negativity that I might display due to my lack of food intake. She laughed at me.
  18. I told my boss about my upcoming surgery after my first appointment with the surgeon. Since my doctors office is 1.5 hours away I have had to request more time off than I would like, but my boss is willing to work with me in altering my schedule. I've also slowly told my coworkers about what's going on. I felt that it was beneficial for them to know as our office will be ramping up in intensity as summer vacation comes to a close.

    Telling Your Children

My husband and I are very open with our children. They knew that daddy was having surgery, and what it was for. This meant that when he came home from the hospital that they needed to be careful with his belly, Whether touching it or accidentally bumping it. They have even seen his incision sites. They also know that mommy will be having the surgery. The no touching mommy's tummy part will be hard as kids like to sit on me, and our youngest is a big cuddler. For reference, our children are 10, 8, 5, and 4. They have handled it well, and have asked good questions.
  20. Before I could schedule a date I had to complete an information session, then a consult with the surgeon, followed by blood work, meeting with a psychologist, and completion of a sleep study. Once all results were received I was then able to schedule the surgery. All of this took about 5 weeks. From the time I scheduled my surgery to the actual date will be about 5 weeks. I just met with the Nut today, and this is at the 2 week pre-op phase.

    Nervous

I won't lie about not being nervous. The closer it gets, the more nervous I become. I'm fortunate that DH was sleeved 2 weeks ago. This has allowed me to see the process and enhance my awareness of what's to come. I've watched YouTube videos (not of surgery, but after) to familiarize myself of the road ahead. When nervous I remind myself of who I want to become (again), and it helps reinforce my decision to pursue surgery. Good luck with which ever route you choose.

Surgery cancelled 4 days prior...I'm upset

It will come with time, so don't give up. Until this past Friday my surgeon had yet to sign off on my surgery even though my insurance had approved it. This was all due to a sleep study report submitted June 1 that indicated I would benefit from seeing a sleep specialist. I had to contact the sleep specialist to obtain additional information from them to the point of them writing my surgeon explaining that there was no need for the recommendation to delay things. Finally he signed. In the two weeks of fretting and playing phone tag I came to realize that if it was delayed that it wasn't the end of the world. I could still prepare myself for surgery, and be all the more ready when the day came.
  23. Just had my meeting with the nutritionist. My 2 week diet begins tomorrow. Now just waiting on my surgery time for the 21st.
  24. I sent you a Facebook request to join. My screen name is Keri.
  25. I have my preop meeting with the Nut on Monday. Then it's my 2 week liquid diet with surgery on the 21. Having seen DH go through surgery makes all the more real. Still nervous about the process. Trying to mentally prepare myself with familiarizing with all the stage 1 baby food choices available.
