Protein cake with fat free cool whip and a smidge of cream cheese.
It was very good but a little dry. Little hard for me to eat or I'm still taking too big a bite

I suck at getting in my liquids too. Just focus on your Proteins and getting in as much other liquids, to include Water, that you can. I add MIO drops, Crystal Light, add clear Isopure, etc. to sip on between meals. It is tough, my doctor already can tell from my labs that my Water levels could be better. It is normal.
    Just keep trying.

    Hey there,
So I am officially a week post op and I have noticed I am not drinking ANYWHERE near the amount of fluids I should be intaking.
The first few days I was able to at least get down one Protein Shake a day, maybe 16oz of Water and 4oz of Soup. As of the last 3 days I have barley gotten down 3 full water bottles in those days all together-maybe a few sips of Protein Drink and soup. All my Protein shakes that I liked at first I can't stand anymore--to sweet, so I am trying the flavorless but I still have to mix it with something.
My real qualm is it still really hurts if I don't teeny tiny sip (Like not even enough to wet my mouth--then I am full for the next 4 hours). I guess I am wondering if at this point post op is it normal to still be having trouble getting liquids in and still having pain if I take a smaller sips. I go for my post op appointment on Nov 3, and I have so far lost 13lbs, but I am worried that I am getting dehydrated or not healing right (Over worked brain, I just worry a lot).
Did anyone else have an experience like this? Any tips or tricks?
    Thank you so much!

So today I hit the point where I officially have less than 100 lbs to lose. 99.2 to goal!
    High weight 261
    Surgery consult weight 254
    Surgery weight 240
    Current weight 228.2
It's still unbelievable to me that it's really happening.

thisfathasgot2go got a reaction from Frodo's Mom in Sleeve restriction Question....
I did not eat soft foods until 2 weeks out. I could only eat about 1 oz. at first. I could possibly eat 2 oz. but that would not include the cheese I added. Your sleeve might still be a bit swollen at first, but whenI ate too much, my sleeve told me. I could feel a hiccup or burp or uncomfortable feeling like I could puke. I did not feel like eating more, nor could I, unless I wanted to see the inside of a toilet.
Once you start soft foods, I think you are at 3 meals a day, rather than 4-6 small meals per day. I have Breakfast, then a Protein drink for AM snack, then lunch, then the rest of my Protein Drink for PM snack, then dinner. Drink 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after those meals, not during if possible. If you feel thirsty during the meals, maybe your meals are too dry. Make them as moist as possible.
I am having the hardest time getting in my Water, but I have always lacked here.
You can do it. Pay attention to your sleeve. Track your food and drink. It helps.

Welcome. Are you getting all your Protein in to hopefully make you feel fuller? My weightloss is slow, but steady. Pre-op education helped me with my food obsession. This is definitely not easy, but just keep making good decisions at the grocery store and eating out. Surround yourself with high protein, low sugar and low carb foods so that you can eat and not deprive yourself. You can do it.

I like the BA chewy bites 500 in caramel. They remind me of those chunks of caramel used to make candy apples. I haven't tried the lemon. Anything to compare it to?

I loved the BA Lemon flavored chews the best, but they're only 250's, so my nutritionist wanted me to be having 4 a day. Instead, I went to the BA caramel 500's. Yes, they're slightly chalky, but mostly I really appreciate the taste.

Firstly, I'm no doctor/surgeon, however, my experience was...
Yes, feeling less restriction is probably normal.
Remember, you've had major surgery, so you've more than likely been quite swollen on the inside.
At day 8, a lot of the swelling has likely subsided, leaving you more room for sustenance.
Learning when you're full (or when you're just about full) can take some time.
I'm eight months out and still have trouble with this on occasion.
For now, eat slowly, chew well and eat slowly (yes, I said it twice)...
The best way to get started on the new habits is simply to start.
There's no magic trick or any such thing.
    You've just gotta do it...
    It's the best way!!
    Good luck to you @

I had the sleeve 22 months ago. I attend support groups at least once a month, plus I see a psychologist, exercise and I have a large support system. I hope you can attend support groups. For me the support is key. I know I could not do this alone. I hope your husband will realize you will be healthier and probably happier. What is he afraid of? This is life changing. I can do things I could not do before. I wish you all the best.

    Let's see:
    How fast my incisions healed
How much I adored eating canned deviled chicken when I got to that stage
The crazy period of Biblical deluge epic level
How intense my reaction to some smells was. My sweetie *reeked* of garlic to me if he ate anything that had even the tiniest amount of garlic in it, and I got so nauseous at an event that was serving garlicky hummus that I almost threw up from the smell.
That I didn't need my NSAIDs for joint pain, which got much better almost immediately.
    How many naps I needed.

I was on purée when I left the hospital and in soft a week out from surgery. I was scared too but you need nutrition from real food. Start very very slow with something easy to digest. I was scared that I'd start eating too much as well and I am now a month out and I'm still fighting to get to 600 calories a day like my NUT wants me to be at. The easiest thing for me was a slice of turkey from the deli rolled up with a slice of reduced fat cheese.

thisfathasgot2go got a reaction from Seahawkgirl in I'm afraid to eat
I was apprehensive. I had read about people getting sick, having diarrhea, etc. after moving to soft foods. But I tried scrambling some egg whites and adding some shredded cheese and it was fine. I could tell when I was full because I started to hiccup and/or burp. I felt it in my chest. I knew not to push it. I did have some loose stools that first day or two (this was last Thurs. and Fri.). But I have steadily tried new things to eat and so far so good. No sickness, some almost throw-up moments, but I got over the hump and soft foods are ok with me, which is good because I gotta go back to work so I need to have a menu for lunch items and balancing Protein shakes too.
You can do it. Take your time and try something.

I am just eating lunch now. I am having 1/2 pouch of Bumble Bee tuna in Olive Oil with jalopenos with some Water crackers. Very good. I added some diced onions and cherry tomatoes. So good. I guess I will have the other half a pouch for dinner (as long as my sleeve likes it!).
Glad your sleeve is accepting your food choices today!
