Feeling full / eating to much

I feel a heavyness in my chest. I breathe through it, try to burp, if I cannot burp and if feels like I am going to puke. I am done. Like it was said above. Eat slowly, chew longer until the food is decimated, then swallow and wait a minute before doing it again.

@@pr_pitbullgrl I have heard of stricture. How are you doing on your GERD/GERD prevention meds? I did a search on google many posts from bariatricpal and obesityhelp popped up. Call your doc like @@retrieverguy said, better safe than sorry!

    Surgery day!

I have not gone out to eat yet. I just don't trust what they are putting in the food, plus it is expensive to eat out and I need all my money for my new "future" clothes. Think is is fine to go from soft foods back to liquids as needed. We are pushing our sleeves now. I am very aware of my sleeve getting full. I get the burping feeling and I know I don't want to puke so I heed the call to STOP. I am still struggling trying to get my water/liquids other than Protein shakes. I am trying to sip sip sip, but I am not good at it.

    Surgery day!

@@retrieverguy Glad it helped. It does cause some uncomfortable cramping that I have breathe through. My scale went up to 184, so I know I need to have a bowel movement since it has been almost a week. I did not drink my smooth move last night. Today, it is on my menu.

    Guacamole

Great recipes. Mine has been pretty boring. avocado lemon or lime juice cherry tomatoes cut up salt pepper cilantro I like onions (but my kids don't)
  6. I bought a can of refried Beans from Trader Joe's to try this week. I scooped out an ounce and topped with some shredded cheese and added a splash of chicken stock to make it a bit moist and microwaved it for 30 seconds. Then I added a tiny dollop of sour cream. Others have put it in a soft tortilla. I use the small one oz. medicine cups to scoop. I have a hard time eating 2 oz of this. It is all trial and error. Look for foods with high Protein per serving like turkey sausage links or veggie bean patties. It helps if the serving is 1 or easy to divide up like 1/4 or 1/2. If you have a crock pot, you can make it pretty healthy with less sodium than the canned chili at the grocery store. http://www.yummly.com/recipes/crock-pot-ground-turkey

    Surgery day!

@@Joi Bells I am just short of 5'3" I started at 225. Lost 30 pre-op and 12 post-op. I post here with my surgery day twin and I post on the "Are there any other Oct 6 sleevers?" post mainly, as far as checking in and comparing how we are doing. I think there is an October 2015 sleevers thread too. I love reading about others experiences and sharing mine. We are all working together to be successful and we will be.

    Surgery day!

@@Joi Bells Welcome. We all had surgery around the same day and are progressing about the same. I have also transitioned from full liquids to soft foods over the past 3-4 days. I am still drinking a Protein drink though because I am trying to hit my protein goal between 60-75g per day and with soft foods that fit in my sleeve, it does not seem possible. Are your tracking your food/liquid/protein intake on MyFItnessPal or a similar website? It helps! If you friend me, you can see my diary. I stalk other people's food diaries for suggestions too. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/thisfathasgot2go

    Surgery day!

@@retrieverguy I am not regular either. I am only going about 1 time a week. I have to drink SMOOTH MOVE tea tonight to get things flowing again. I have been taking a Colace stool softener caplet every other day (scared to take more).

    Bariatric Advantage Multivitamin Nausea

I take the Bariatric Advantage Multivitamins 2x a day without issue. I am 2+ weeks post-op (sleeved 10/7). I start by sucking on them until they disintegrate and I take one in the morning and one at night. I have only tried Celebrate and they had a more chalky taste. People's reactions to the Vitamins just vary. Some people liked the stuff before and after surgery they can't stand it. Just make sure the vitamins that you choose have the necessary, vital vitamins. I currently supplement the Bariatric Advantage ones with Biotin, B1 and B12 (all meltaways tabs) 3 times a week, except the Biotin I take daily). You will just have to try different ones until you get one that satisfies what you need, without sickness. I can start back on the 500g Calcium x2 daily in about 2 weeks. Hopefully I still like them!
  12. It depends on your NUT or surgeon's advice after they meet with you and analyze your situation. I was on a 1200-1500 calorie intake menu for 3 months prior to surgery where I had to lose 10% of my starting weight. I did not have an immediate pre-op diet since I lost the weight. I was just told by my surgeon not to gain weight between my consult and the surgery date or he would cancel.

    Fist week weight loss

Enjoy it while you can, but understand that it will slow, it is just not sustainable. Don't get depressed when the slow down happens. I am 2+ weeks out (sleeved 10/7) and have a lower BMI and it is about 1 lb. every 2 days or so. I weigh daily and it's a bad habit I know, but I "think" I can handle it and the inevitable stalls that are coming. Congrats and good luck on your journey.

    Coffee Addiction ...

Decaf is on my approved list of beverages from 2 weeks out and forward. So I think your addiction can continue with some diversions.

    Defining "normal" weight and BMI

I don't know the answer. I am months behind you, and I have to say that your accomplishment is exceptional in the four months of your surgery. It is hard for me to love myself, my body, but I have to try. I have set a goal of 125 for myself. It might not be realistic, but it works while I am attempting to do this. When I get to the weight, or get to a weight where I can say I feel good, look good, and I am able to maintain (hopefully) then I hope that the emotional side of me will agree and be happy with it! You are not a number, a weight or a BMI and I know it is not easy to look beyond this. You are amazing regardless.
  16. I am doing great. I am 2 1/2 weeks post-op. I have not gone back to work yet, but I probably can. No pain and I am on soft foods, paying attention to my sleeve when it feels full. No cheating. Just following the plan. I will start going to the support group next month and continuing to be accountable. I am down 13lbs. since the surgery. Thank you for asking @@heidikate

Why cream soups over light soups

It could be because the first couple of days they stress clear broths/soups, and the next stage is liquids, but it can be clear AND creamy (non-clear) soups?

    Surgery day!

I have not had soup since I left liquids. I have lots left in my cabinet. I decided to have the refried Beans again with some cheese. Then I will finish out the night with 1/2 a Protein drink to hit my protein goal.

    Please help.

Check with your credit union for a lower interest rate. Since you are self-pay, negotiate a better price if you want to use that UM doctor.

    Surgery day!

I don't have a dog. The landlord says no, which I am ok with. I have had one in the past when I was home with the kids, but now that I am working, it would not work for me anyway. So what's for dinner tonight? I have done pretty well with yogurt for Breakfast, then some deli turkey and fresh mozzarella for lunch. Now I am wondering what to do about dinner. I am sipping on a Protein drink trying to get close to my goal.

    Making use of the now

I believe my recent weight loss success has a lot to do with accountability. I was in a three month health education class (required for surgery). I had to track my food and weigh in every week. Then the surgeon said I could not gain any weight before the surgery. All of that accountability made me true to myself. Now, I have a watch that tracks my steps and I continue to use MyFitnessPal to track my foods (mostly track my protein). It is a must for me. Here I keep up with other sleevers who had surgery at the same time as me so we can compare food choices, get ideas and share experiences. Good luck and join a group of sleevers who will be going through the process with you.

    Surgery day!

Sorry about the vomiting. But at least that provides QUICK relief! Buy little 2 oz cups or use the medicine 1 oz cups or use that scale. But, really, I have been putting too much on my plate, and when I feel like I have to burp or I feel something in my chest. I stop because I don't want to throw up. I figure I can go back to it if I feel hungry later on. We live and learn. Tomorrow we start again.

    Surgery day!

Tasting is good. My job is going to be a challenge. Someone is always bringing in donuts, bagels, pastries, etc. You did great with all that temptation! I have played it pretty safe today. I have stuck with the roast beef for lunch with 1/2 low fat cheese stick. I could not eat it all. I tried some refried Beans with shredded cheese and sour cream as a recent snack. It was really good. Thinking about leftovers for dinner. I can just take bites of a soft meat and some soft veggies.
