    Six Month Stall, anyone?

I stalled at about 4.5 months for 6 weeks. Then I lost 6 lbs in a few short days and am stalled again for 3 weeks. My scale shows a lb loss this morning but I'm not trusting that evil contraption quite yet! Up until the 4.5 month mark I hadn't really stalled before so my first stall lasted 6 long weeks. I added weights to my routine (5 lb hand weights while cranking up the resistance on the elliptical) and that was when my stall broke. Don't know if it was coincidence or not. Hang in there. Don't let it get you off track. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Struggling with my self image.

I am reading thru these comments again this morning as I lay in bed. I'm already feeling down about myself and I just opened my eyes. So, I came back for the reminders. I made the mental connection that my OCD might be amplifying the fact that I can't let this thought go and knowing that will ultimately help me move forward. Today I plan to focus on the fact that my old x-large pj's are way too big and falling off me this morning. When the rain passes I will go for a 3 mile walk/jog and along the way I won't feel like I might literally expire. And then I will come home and put on my new size 10 swimsuit and enjoy my backyard pool. I have come a long way, and I just need to keep telling myself that. Thank you all for taking the time to support me. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

I know what you are talking about! Every time we go to dinner and get seated at a booth I have serious trepidation about if I will fit comfortably. I cringe when they start walking us towards them. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

That's a great suggestion. It was the first picture of me standing with another person. I have the ones of just me that I took for my progress pics but seeing me next to another person really wrecked me. I should take a picture with an adult and see if it helps my perspective. Thank you! Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Struggling with my self image.

Thanks Ann. Your perspective is very interesting to me. I find it intriguing how you thought you were getting too thin along the way! The complexity of the way in which our individual minds work is crazy. I cannot imagine seeing myself as too thin ever. Then again, I never imagined losing almost 80 lbs and still feeling fat. A recent picture that started this downward spiral was a full body shot of me standing next to my very healthy, athletic, and thin 14 year old teenage child taken about 3 weeks ago. I felt I looked monster like next to them and it's just sort of stuck. Thank goodness I have a Dr appointment this week. My shrink will probably be like wtf... we just got your OCD under wraps and now this stupidity rears it head...ha Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Struggling with my self image.

Thank you. I know I should be proud. And I was for a while. I thought these feelings would pass but they aren't. Sometimes I wish I had more "before" pictures. I was always avoiding the camera so I don't have a lot of visuals of what I really looked like before. I will definitely be talking to my shrink to hopefully get some helpful tips. Your words are ultimately what I would wish for all of us. Why are things so much easier said than done and why can't we do for ourselves what we would encourage others to do? I appreciate you replying. I probably should read some books about this. It just came as a shock because I had felt decent. I told my husband and my sister how I feel and they think I'm nuts and don't understand how I possibly feel the way I do. But I seriously do. I look at everyone's progress pictures on here and am so amazed at the transformations. I have monthly side by side pictures of my own progress and admit I see minor changes but am overall discouraged by the end result. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

Monday will be here before you know it and then you'll be in recovery soon after that and well on your way. Hang in there and enjoy the weekend! Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

Is there a way to break a stall

I will second the calorie increase suggestion. I am at around 1200. Always over 1000 minimal. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

Is there a way to break a stall

I was just there too. At about 4.5 months I stalled (for almost 1.5 months). During my stall I bounced up 2 lbs and down 2 lbs from my stall weight of 184 lbs. I remained stalled until almost 6 months. Then I had a whoosh down to 178, and I am sitting at 178 now. My Dr recommended I change my exercise routine. I continued to track my food and do similar exercise, with a small tweak. I've always either walked with short jogging intervals or do the elliptical. I continued that, but started carrying 5 lb weights per hand. I am not sure if the weights triggered the stall break or if it was coincidence. My Dr also told me these last lbs that I want to lose are going to be the hardest. He is right. Hang in there. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  15. I've been at the same weight for 1 month as of today. My high weight was 256. My surgery was Nov 16th 2015. As of a April 2nd I weighed 184. And there I sit still. I've been patiently frustrated. I've tired small tweaks here and there. I finally contacted the surgeon today. His advice? Change from cardio to strength training to shock the body. Does any one have experience with this approach? I am definitely going to give it a whirl but its wasn't the answer I was expecting. Thanks in advance. 16. Thanks. I increased my calories and also increased my work out. I tried to do what the dr recommended and do weight strengthening but I couldn't get into it. So, I compromised sort of. I cranked up the resistance on the elliptical and started carrying 5 lb hand weights while on it. I look forward to increasing the weights. My arms needed help anyway and I feel good about this. It could be a coincidence and my stall just broke on its own but either way I will take it. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  17. It was such a mental challenge to be stuck for so long. I stuck with it though. I am thrilled that the scale moved and can only hope I am prepared for more of these types of stalls in this final phase. Keep in touch! If I could wait out this stall I believe anyone can. 18. Finally!!! Almost 1.5 months stalled and I've finally had a whoosh. Today I work up to 178.5. I checked 10 times (seriously!). Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Breast size after surgery

I went down in band size and up in cup size but I will admit I've been probably wearing the wrong size for years. I was a 42 DD. I am now wearing a 36FF. I got fitted and had to get bras with "molded" cups. I look fantastic with my bra on, but with it off...sweet baby Jesus turn off the lights man. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  20. After over a month long stall at 184 I dropped a chunk of weight within a few days. Finally a whoosh and I am ecstatic. 178.5 today. I have butterflies in my tummy I am so happy. I checked 10 times to be sure. Moved the scale to different parts if the floor. I am in disbelief! Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm still holding steady. UGH. I got down to 181 and am back at 183.5. Thanks for sharing you've had long stalls. They are so hard emotionally sometimes. Keep us posted on your gym progress. I don't go back to the dr until mid June. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
  22. Hugs. It's tough looking back. There are pictures I look back on where I never saw how I really looked. When I put them side by side with new pictures it's heartbreaking, embarrassing, shameful... My own brother, who I hadn't seen since Christmas saw me last weekend and the confusion on his face when I walked in was visible. He said he didn't recognize me. I saw a woman in the store I hadn't seen for a year and she had no idea who I was. It's only been 6 months since my surgery but the change is massive. Oddly, I only see it when I look at pictures. I don't see myself as thinner in the mirror or reflections. I just bought size 10 work pants and seriously had to talk myself into it. They fit fine, but I couldn't wrap my head around buying them ( I use to be a size 22). I'm still not mentally caught up with my weight loss nor am I at goals. I know how you feel. HOPE

During my 4 month medically supervised diet I spent a lot of time reading and researching. Anything and everything I could find about weight loss surgery I read. Although it was tough waiting, looking back I am grateful I had that time to learn so much to prepare me. I will be 6 months post op on May 16th. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

  25. Thanks all. I am hoping this will work. I get mininal 85 oz of Water. I get on average 85 grams of Protein. I don't eat carbs except what I get from the small amount of veggies I eat. I don't eat fruit. Calories wise I'm between 900 and 1100. I'm going to increase my water and do some strength training exercises I found online. I hope I can break through this soon. As much as I try not to sweat it, it does become a little saddening and maddening when you work work work with no result. I've had a random losing pattern, lose a few lbs then hold steady for a week or more but this is bananas. Thanks for sharing ideas and thoughts. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App
