  1. My date is November 9th!!
  2. Seeing everyone's pictures is so inspirational! We're from all walks of life - different backgrounds, different cultures, different careers... all with a common goal to lose weight and be healthy. Great job by all! Can't wait to take my day of surgery pic on Nov 9th.
  3. Sounds like you're making fantastic progress. Post your pics - be proud!!

    Had surgery yesterday

So sad to hear about your complications. Hopefully the worst part is over with now. Rest up and heal your body. Best of luck.
  5. You look amazing. All of your hard work has definitely paid off!!

    Day of surgery!

You got this! And by the time you read this, you'll already be on the "losing side". Congrats!!
  7. I was a gymnast until my 2nd year of college. I was athletically built - never skinny but not fat. Had my first child at 20 - and pretty sure I still carry some of that "baby weight". back in the early 90's I was pretty fit. Then I just let myself go. Time to get me back.

    Struggling

Can you take 2 days sick time so you meet your 1-year anniversary - and then file for short term disability?

    5 Days & Feeling Blue

Have you tried chewing gum? It always helps me when I'm craving something.
  10. I would also suggest moisturizer. It can go a long way to keep your skin healthy!

    Waiting for approval

I was missing a year too - and ended up getting a copy of my chart from the missing year from my OB/GYN. It was the missing piece to that puzzle

    What did your FEET do?

I'm hoping my plantar fasciitis calms down after surgery. I am typically an 8.5-9 - but usually a 9 for width. Hoping I can share my daughter's shoes -- she's an 8

    I gave up today

This is heartbreaking. Can you share why February is out of the question? And if not February, what about March? April? From what I understand, as long as you're over 40BMI at the time of your first appointment, that's the weight used for the insurance approval. Not familiar with your insurance though.

The BEST words I could ever hear....

    Congratulations! That's such fantastic news.

    I did it

    Best of luck to you!!
  16. Great visual to keep weight loss in perspective. I own a cake company - and with every lb. I lose, it's equivalent to 4 sticks of butter. I'm down 10+ lbs (still pre-surgery) - so 40 sticks of butter are GONE. Crazy when you put it like that!!

    Long Distance Dating?

I would give it a shot. When I was dating my now-husband, he lived an hour from me. And we worked opposite shifts. It was important to both of us, and we made it work. We never saw it as difficult - because we were both willing to do what it took to make it work. Meet in-between. Make plans way in advance for weekend trips. And most importantly, don't compare him to any past relationship - long distance or not. He's done nothing to deserve that negativity. If this is worth it to you, make it worth it. If it's worth it to him, he'll do the same. Be open and honest. Good luck.
  18. That's so incredibly loving!! To answer your question... what am I doing or going to do that will drive me? Well, we've already cleaned out every cabinet. I now read labels and make much better choices for food. And we've increased the dog walks from 1/2 mile (they're bulldogs.... aka couch potatoes) once a day to 3 times a day. Two of them can walk a mile - so we'll bring a wagon along and put them in the wagon when they get tired. Now that it's not hot out, they LOVE the walks. Yesterday while visiting Towson University, my hubby said "you are kicking this diet's ASS".. it made me beam!!
  19. NYU in Manhattan. I have a 2 week liquid diet. My original surgery was scheduled for 9/24 - but my EGD revealed a stomach full of ulcers,so I wasn't cleared for surgery. I was already on the liquid diet for a week at that point. I've kept to a very light diet since then - so it's been almost a month - with another month to go. I'll keep on my light diet and re-start liquids on 10/26. Hoping my next EGD shows no more ulcers... I'm tired of waiting
  20. I'm closer to the city, i'm in Queens I'm on Long Island, too! Near Stony Brook. But my surgery is in NYC on 11/9.

    I finally did it!

    Congrats! Quick healing!!
  22. My Gastro didn't clear me for surgery in September. EGD showed ulcers. I go back next week - and have a new surgery date of 11/9. If all clear, he'll clear me.

    So many crazy men

After my separation (back in 2003) and eventual divorce, I dated a few guys. One was an old friend - but very young. Learned that lesson fast. I wasn't sure what I wanted out of a relationship - but knew damn well what I DIDN'T want in a partner/relationship. I tried Match.com - some strange meet-ups from that. At that point, I decided to try eharmony.com and it changed my life. I'm now married to the only person on eharmony that I went out with. We took it slow (he has 4 kids, I have 2) - and neither of us was in a rush. We emailed back & forth for weeks. Then chatted on the phone for a good 2 months. I used to wonder if he ran my info through the system (he's a police sgt). After a few months, he came to take me to lunch. Honestly, we had been talking so often and for so long that I felt like I knew him for years. After that lunch date, we've been inseparable. Together for 10 years - and married for 7. He is the most amazing man I've ever met. He's my biggest supporter in all that I do. Have you tried eHarmony? Their extensive questionnaire has a science behind it. We're so incredibly compatible - and would never have met on our own.
