Congradulations! I'm getting banded on the 16th as well. Where are you getting banded at? My doctor is Dr Felts and I'm Going to Wise Regional in Decatur Texas. That's in the Dallas area. I'm so excited but having a difficult time with the pre-op diet. I have my protein shake in the morning and before lunch I'm shaking and feeling like I'm going to pass out which is what happens to me when I don't eat. I can't figure out why though. I'm hoping after a couple of days it will go away. But it worth it either way. Yeah to us!!!!!!!! :whoo:

What kind of insurance do you have? I have United Health Care and I got through right away. The end of November was the 1st time I looked into the lap band and I am having my surgery on the 16th. There was a lady I was talking to at my doc's office and she said everyone with United gets through right away but other insurances make you jump through hoops.

I just started my pre-op diet today which includes to myocel protien shakes per day. It tastes so gross to me. I even tried a couple of the recipes the doctors office recommended but it didn't help that much. I figured I would deal with the taste either way but the more I tried to drink it the more I felt nauseous. I am very picky and my stomach doesn't tolerate things that I think are gross. Any ideas or suggestions? I am really excited and I really want to do this right. :help:

I'm only telling my close family members. I really don't have many friends because I am a stay at home mom and we just moved in Oct. The friends that I do have back home wouldn't be supportive they never have been when it comes to my weight. They are skinny and I'm not and I think they like it that way. I don't know why but oh well. I know that I will have to figure out what to say when I go on vacations with my husbands family in April because they will be hounding my on why I'm not eating that much.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I just called the doctor's office because they were the ones that told me to take the myocel protein and she told me that the doctor is very particular about the protein you take so try to stick with that one. I hope I can figure it out.

HI! I'm the same age as you guys and I'm getting banded on Jan 16th. I am feeling the same way. I hope I'm making the right decision. At the end of November I looked at a website about the lap band and that is the first time it had ever even crossed my mind. Now 1 1/2 months later I am having the surgery and I'm afraid I rushed into it. I really so feel like it is the right thing to do but I have been reading how some people have been on this journey for up to a year and are finally getting the surgery. I just hope that I am prepared enough and have enough knowledge.

I am getting my lap band in January by Dr. Felts in Dallas Tx. Has anyone had him? Do you know which band he is using?
