jjp got a reaction from J170 in Boston Sleevers?
I had my sleeve done 1 week ago today at Norwood Hospital by Dr. Adam Glasgow. I can't say enough good things about both Dr. Glasgow and his staff at SWLS in Walpole or the great folks at Norwood Hospital. One week out I am driving, working in the yard, and gong for long walks; I feel great. It took time but I am getting in more than 64 oz. of h2O at least 80 g. of Protein and my multi-Vitamin (good size capsule), my omeprazole (smaller capsule), my Calcium chews, and 2 B-12 lozenges without any difficulty I have more energy and less joint pain than I have had in years. I am really excited and can't wait to really start working.
Wishing all a healthy and contented day

This is great to hear, I've been seeing Dr. Glasgow myself and I'm on track to have surgery the end of November or early December. JUST had my first nutritionist appointment last week. I'm excited.

    If you like French Onion Soup try this;
    (5) Vidalia Onions halved and sliced (1) 20 oz. carton of Low Salt Beef broth Worcestershire sauce to taste a big pinch of Montreal Steak Seasoning 2 Tbs. of Extra Virgin Olive Oil In a medium size sauce pan sweat the onions and olive oil over medium low heat
as the onions release Water and become translucent sprinkle in Montreal Steak Seasoning and Worcestershire Sauce
cover and continue to cook over low heat for about 20 minutes stirring occasionally until the onions are fully translucent and are taking on a very light color from your seasonings then add the whole 20 oz. carton of beef broth continue to simmer on low heat for 30 to 45 minutes stirring occasionally when you think you have wrung as much flavor as you can from your onions strain and allow to cool a bit then measure out a cup or two and add a scoop of unflavored Protein powder slowly whisk in the Protein and don't heat it up too hot or it may cause the protein to clump a bit
    Good Luck and Good Health

Day 4 post-op no pain meds so far today, walked 1.5 miles and I drove to the grocery store and walked around for a bit
I got down 12 oz. of unsweetened almond milk with a scoop and a half of Syntrax Trophix vanilla it went down much easier than yesterday, no problem keeping up with my h2O intake, I also managed to get down my supplements with less difficulty the trip to the supermarket was interesting no emotional responses to food no blind lust for the sweet empty calories in the bakery I did cheat a little I had a 8 oz glass of Newman's Gorilla Grape over ice a bad choice I know but it was almost too sweet I can take it or leave it so I will leave it and wait a couple of weeks so I can juice real fruit the plan for the rest of the day is another Protein drink and broth with unflavored protein another walk and lots of cool clear Water
Good luck and good health to all

jjp got a reaction from Qbanma81 in Let's talk about blood clots
My PCP and WLS sent me to a cardiologist for a venous ultra-sound on my lower legs pre-op. And post-op during in hospital recovery I received two shots (a fine gauge needle to the abdomen) to mitigate the risk of blood clots traveling. And it's another good reason to get up and WALK around the hospital floor as much as you can as SOON as your Nurse(s) tell you it's okay.

Day 3 post-op slept in my own bed it went well. I took my meds and my Multi-Vitamin with about a pint of Water it went well. I am going to try my first Protein Drink mixed with unsweetened almond milk. I still sore but it's a beautiful day in Foxboro so I am going to walk hopefully a mile and a half.

My surgery is Monday 7/27. This is day 7 of my clear liquid diet. I feel terrible and I'm starving. As of Monday I've lost 12lbs. I definitely feel lighter not having any food in my body but I also don't have any energy. I know this is all for a reason (to shrink my liver for surgery) and I'm glad I'm already losing but wow, I really underestimated how hard this would be. I'm nervously excited for my surgery. Less than 4 days to go!

Totally normal all that means is you were paying attention when the told you they were removing 85% of a HEALTHY organ and it was irreversible. I just got home from my surgery and it was major surgery and there is significant discomfort. BUT I have given myself a powerful tool to get the weight off and keep it off and develop a healthy relationship with food. If you are like me and have yo-yo'd always to gain back the weight (and a little more) this could be the one thing that can change your attitude toward food and health. As far as the opinions of others undoubtedly they mean well, but to thine own self be true

I just got home and I am a little sore. The surgery went well. The staff at Norwood Hospital were fantastic. Once the Doc gave me the ok on my barium swallow test I GULPED ice Water. The water came right back up it wasn't really gross or painful but it was unpleasant so please remember to sip that first cold drink of water.
I did a lot of walking on the floor and it really does help with the post surgery gas pains.
I had great plans I was going to make 3 or 4 shakes and get all my Protein in today, I am rethinking that now my Doc even said to me "take it easy don't worry about getting all your protein and supplements in today" I think I am just going to sip water and see how I feel throughout the day.
Good health and best wishes to all

    Thanks Kate
I am excited this isn't my first rodeo with weighing counting and keeping track of my nutrition.
Like many of us I tried and had occasional success (70 lbs. one time 30 & 40 a bunch of times) and then something happens and all the old tapes start to roll
I had my last visit w/ the Doc and he called it a tool I said it's more like a gun to my head. A bit much but this is what I need. I am dealing with the hunger by thinking of food strategies that are going to give me what I need in small portions and still taste good enough to serve the whole family. I am excited by the work ahead of me, and grateful for the support of others. I am sweating sweet onions with 2 Tbs. of xtra virgin olive oil a sprinkle of Montreal steak seasoning and a good slosh of Worcestershire Sauce into that I will dump a whole box of low salt beef broth strain it and something close to onion Soup.< /p>
    Thanks again
