  1. @@sleevemom88, we think alike for our goal -setting lol!

I too, have both small goals and an overall goal. My overall goal is 175. But since I started at 325, I have/had "mile markers" to encourage me along this marathon.

    299-under 300

    263-weight I was when I got married

210-weight when I met my husband at age 19! (Hope to reach this by the new year)

    199-onederland!

185-while I'd still be considered overweight, at 5'8" and my body type, I could be comfortable here.

175-Goal! Hope to reach by my one year surgiversary in April. It would mark 150 lbs lost.

My nutritionist told me to keep evaluating once I got under 200 lbs. To ask myself "How do I feel/look? Should I try to lose another 10 lbs?" Because I've never been under 200 lbs in my adult life, I really don't know what my body will be like at a certain weight, so my goal may change. She did say not to go under 165, though - which I'm fine with!

  2. Good luck @@dsparks2024! Wish you all the best for your upcoming surgery!

Thanks @@proudgrammy! I do use MFP and my NUT added me to her monthly support group so I can get extra encouragement if I need it. They also said I could come back in three months if I felt I needed it, they just didn't want to force me. I'm expecting the weight loss to slow, but I will be sad lol. And she did mean up to 40g per meal. I did a double take! But most days I won't reach that since I eat Protein first, and I get full off of that. Thanks! You're a peach :-)

  3. Thank you! I'm celebrating with some new gym clothes lol. My old ones are so baggy, and I love the cute spandex and top combos lol.

I didn't have any issues, it's been relatively smooth sailing. I had to figure out when I was really full and had a couple times when I pushed it too far, but my sleeve has tolerated everything so far (starches, alcohol, sugar) albeit in limited quantities. The worst issue was Constipation despite drinking 75+ ounces/day, but my nutritionist gave me a probiotic to try so I'm ordering that tomorrow!

  4. I just had my six-month appt, and I'm officially down 104 lbs! I can't believe it. I'm about 50 lbs away from my goal of 175 (I'm 5'8"). More than anything, this process has showed me I don't have to be perfect. I've hit a couple of bumps during my journey, but instead of feeling discouraged, I just kept moving forward.

My nutritionist also gave me some guidelines. I can eat up to 40g of carbs per meal! I was doing that per day! Now she did say that was the max, but it'll be nice to loosen the reigns a bit (think sweet potatoes and fruit, not French fries and fettuccine lol).

I don't go back for another six months, which is a little scary. That will be the longest I've been "on my own" so I will have to keep myself in check and be honest with myself. Especially since we're getting into the winter holiday season. But my stretch goal is to be below 200 by the new year so I will stay focused!

  5. I waited five months. No to all the other questions. I mainly drink wine, but I will have a cocktail on occasion. I get tipsy off 1-2 glasses of red wine, but not liquor. I've only had a few sips of beer. I loved beer pre surgery but I don't have the same taste for it right now. I drink about once a week, but it'll be the first thing to go if I see my weight stall.

  6. While I can't wait to be able to wear super cute clothes from the "regular" stores, I've actually been able to find awesome clothes from Torrid and Fashion2Figure. If you don't have those stores, look online. I've gotten tons of compliments on my clothing choices. While they can be expensive full-price, both stores constantly run sales and send out coupons. I'm sitting at about a size 16 now, so I'm thinking just a few more months (fingers crossed) before I cross over. Good luck to you all!

  7. Back in mid-August I was pretty sick and couldn't drink or eat much. I lost 10 lbs in six days. The next week I went on vacation and I was so excited not to be sick, that I wasn't stringent with my diet. Still hit my Protein and Water goals, but had a bite here and there of the not so good "vacation" food (okay, several bites lol). Now I'm back to work and I've been on the straight and narrow, following my plan. My dilemma is that I always weigh myself on the 6th of the month since that's my monthly surgery anniversary. Do I weigh in on Sunday and possibly get discouraged? It won't affect my eating either way. I've learned not to reward/punish myself with food. But knowing that I probably gained a couple pounds back after my illness (I'm sure part of the 10 lbs was Water weight), I kind of just want to focus on eating right and exercising. But I don't want to miss my five-month weight check and I may die of curiosity before October 6 comes around! What would you do? The monthly weigh in is just something I like to do, not a dr visit or anything.

  8. For those of you who have a relaxer still and are worried about Hair loss, I recently had a touch up and a color rinse and I've had no problems with hair loss. I was a little worried since I'm 4.5 months out and apparently that's the prime time for hair loss. Everyone is different of course, but I wanted to share my experience since hair is such a big issue!

  9. @RoxieMalone If you haven't had a supportive WLS experience, I can see how having my husband around might seem strange to you then. My husband is my biggest cheerleader, he notices when I'm eating too fast or not drinking enough and is quick to tell me to slow down or drink up! Sometimes to my chagrin, lol. So of course he's going to be around when I start occasionally drinking alcohol. And he'll be a big help in keeping me on track, just like he is now! If you are really only a week post-op, I hope your recovery is going well. Things may look a little different when you are 4 1/2 months post op, like I am. Good luck.
