    Alcoholic beverages

@roxiemalone I put that I wanted my husband with me when I drank because the surgeon and NUT stressed that you don't know how alcohol will affect you when you first start drinking. I want it as a safety precaution and to make sure I make responsible choices until I know how my sleeve tolerates alcohol. Not a red flag, just being safe! Alcohol can be enjoyed responsibly. It seems like you have a stricter surgeon's plan, which is fine. I'm just glad that my plan allows for a drink or two, since I got the sleeve to enjoy life to the fullest and healthiest in the manner that I want. Good luck - I know I'm doing great and love my sleeve!

    Alcoholic beverages

And drinking alcohol is not against my surgeon's plan. I'm allowed to drink after six months. Some are allowed after two months, some after a year, and some plans say never. I'm perfectly happy following my surgeon's plan for success. I've been successful this far!

    Alcoholic beverages

For my first drink (still two months away but I can dream!) I'm doing vodka and the SF crystal light flavorings. They have a strawberry lemonade and a toasted coconut that I think would be awesome with vodka. And vodka only has about 65 calories, no carbs, no sugar. Having a drink every now and then is no big deal! I already told my hubby (who will be my drinking buddy to make sure I'm good when I have that first drink) to make sure I don't eat anything I shouldn't. It's the food choices I made after the alcohol more so than the alcohol itself that made me gain weight. Good luck with your drink of choice!
  4. I wish all the best for your daughter and that those babies stay nice and warm in there for another two months! I understand why you are hesitant, but I wouldn't plan around the "what ifs." I was back at work in six days. I would have had no problems driving three hours. Everyone's recovery is different but a week or two of recovery is still before the babies will hopefully be born. I postponed my surgery for a month so I could have it over spring break and not take any leave. While I think it was a good decision, I look at people sleeved in March and think that I could be further a long than I am. Good luck with your decision and journey!
  5. I just had my three-month labs done, so this is fresh in my mind! I was pre-diabetic. My fasting blood sugar pre surgery was 121, now it's 80. My A1C was 5.9 pre surgery, now it's 5.1. Both very normal! My cholesterol was always good, now it's even better. I had plantar fasciitis and swollen ankles, and both are gone. My BP wasn't high constantly, but if I was stressed, it would skyrocket up to 170/110. Now it stays even around 120/80. I also used to get slight chest pains. Not anymore. I also discovered I had moderate sleep apnea during my pre op testing and now my husband says I never snore, even when I'm on my back! After four months and 85 lbs gone, this surgery has already been a lifesaver!

To eat or not to eat! LOL!

Dannon light n fit is my favorite as well. They have a new kind that has dark chocolate on top and it's like a dessert! And it's still lower in sugar.
  7. I went to Cedar Point amusement park over the weekend and I fit into every roller coaster that I tried! Even the little tiny ones. I've been fearful of trying roller coasters for years now! We also met up with family members whom I haven't seen in a couple years and I received many compliments (including the classic "you better not lose any more weight"). I still have about 75 lbs to lose but it was nice to hear. I also walked 28,000 steps that day (my personal best) and my shorts kept slipping down, even with a belt. All in all, a good weekend!
  8. It's a wonderful feeling! I need to get back to Universal. I was there five years ago and didn't get on the Harry Potter roller coaster because I was afraid I wouldn't fit. Next time, for sure!
  9. I can't wait to be under 200 lbs. I'm at 241 now (loss of 84 lbs, sleeved 4/6) and my goal is to be 210 by the end of October. It's my anniversary, and also the weight I was when I met my husband 16 years ago!
  10. Even though I'm four months out, I've been battling a fever the past three days and it's been hard drinking enough water because I'm so lethargic. So I went back to basics - I take a sip (roughly an ounce) every 10 min. I use the aqualert app as a reminder.

    Sleevers over 300lbs?

I started at 325, SW 310. My bmi was 49. My surgeon said I'd be equally successful with the sleeve or bypass, long-term. I've lost 82 lbs in four months with the sleeve, so I'm happy with my choice.
  12. @@CherieN how tall are you? I'm 5'8 and 243 but I'm still a 2 at Torrid :-/ But it's better than the 4 I used to be! I started at 325, too. My NSV is I bought a pair of sexy heels and I can actually walk in them comfortably!

    Coworker outed me

I had a friend who was diagnosed with adult-onset type 1 diabetes. As a result, she lost about 30 lbs. When people ask her what she did to lose the weight, she just says portion sizes and exercise. Is it the whole truth? No, but her medical history is no one else's business. It's the same way with WLS. If you want to disclose it go ahead! But it's not dishonest to not tell everything about your medical history.
  14. @@Elode, my seven-year old does that too! She yells at me not to cheat lol.
  15. If I eat a bite of something "naughty" my husband just looks at me and shakes his head. It's annoying! I know he has my best interests at heart but I eat right 95% of the time. This is a lifestyle, not a diet. I'm also pretty content most of the time though! WLS had been an amazing journey.

    Coworker outed me

It is very rude. I never divulge anything about someone's personal or medical history unless that person has said it's okay. I haven't told many people, just immediate family and close friends. It's not that it's a secret, but that it's private. I don't go around telling people about my sex life, or my ob/gyn appointments either. Now if someone asks, of course I won't lie. I think you've done all you can do. You told her you didn't appreciate it, and I'm guessing she knew exactly what she was doing. So just roll with it - and lose weight and look fabulous!

    Steak

I had a couple bites of ribeye steak around two months. At almost four months, I have no problem eating any cut of steak. I can generally only eat 2 - 2.5oz, as opposed to the 3-4oz of other meats.
  18. I've always wondered about this myself! My stats: 5'8 248 lbs 18/20 bottoms 20/22 tops with sleeves I know when I was around 210 lbs (the lowest I weighed in my adult life), I was a 14. I'm hoping that will still be the case!

Congrats! I'm sure you look fantastic! As hard as you've worked, a little reward is awesome!

    3 month weight loss

I was 310 day of surgery on 4/6, though I was 325 when I started my two-week pre op diet. I'm closer to four months now and I've lost 77 lbs total. At three months I had lost 67 lbs.

    African American vsgers!

Most people I know are fine within 1-2 weeks. I was back to work in six days and I had a hernia repair, as well. Recovery was easy and I haven't had any problems. There are always outliers but I don't think you need to expect a five- week recovery.

    Vitamins made me puke!

I do nutrametrix powdered vitamin and calcium. So much better than the chewables! I threw those up. In fact, I have four bottles of chewables that I wish I could give away. I mix the nutrametrix with water and it tastes similar to an orange-y drink, and I get eight ounces of water toward my daily requirement!

    African American vsgers!

Thank you @@sleeveme77! I've been exercising three times a week since I was three weeks out from surgery (my surgery was April 6). I want to add a fourth day, but I think I'll wait until/if I hit a stall, and use the extra day to shake things up. I do cardio all three days and strength training on two of those days. Good luck! Your date is right around the corner!
  24. No I don't mind the height, just the tiny seats lol. But some of those roller coasters were a little intimidating!

    African American vsgers!

Good luck to everyone starting their journey! I'm just shy of four months out and I've lost 77 lbs. At 5'8", I was 325 lbs and now I'm 248 lbs. My surgeon is extremely pleased. No hair loss yet. I hope it holds out!
