  1. Who's doing your surgery? I had Dr Allen at Norton Suburban. I ❤️ him.
  2. I'm a baker, I'll work on it.
  3. My surgeon asked which one I wanted. Glad I chose VSG, I've had no issues and feel great.
  4. Can we roll call? I'll start... Rachel, 38, Frankfort, surgery 8/4/15.
  5. I just choke down the protein at this point. I don't want to get sick so I just suck it up and do it. I wore myself out today, took my kids to Sky Zone, out to lunch (which was strange because I didn't eat), and to the mall. I've been sitting still since 6pm. I actually feel great. So, when do you weigh? I don't see my surgeon for at least another week. Just wondering. In other news, my bras are already too big, really? I lose my boobs FIRST?
  6. I'm in Frankfort but had surgery 8/4/15 at Norton Suburban. Dr Allen did my surgery and all is well.
  7. If I didn't do the laundry it wouldn't get done. I won't let anyone touch my washer. Our house is for sale too so the house has to stay clean which is almost impossible with 4 and 6 yr old boys home all day.
  8. I had surgery Aug 4th at 11am. I was in recovery until about 4 because they didn't have a room. I was pretty sleepy for about 24 hours so I did a lot of sleeping and walking. I had the barium x-ray on Wednesday morning and it was awful. I barfed it all back up but kept it down long enough for them to check for leaks. After that I was cleared to have broth, jello, water, and juice. I really didn't want anything while I was in the hospital. I came home Thursday and got all of my protein in yesterday which made me super happy. I haven't gotten all of my water in yet so I'm working on that today. My biggest issue is the exhaustion. I have 2 small children and am used to going and doing things all day. Now I put laundry in and have to sit down. Veterans, how long does this last? I have basically no pain since the gas is getting better. My incisions never hurt, they're just itchy.
  9. I had mine Tuesday and only want water now.
  10. I've gotten 2 anti clotting shots since I've been in the hospital. They're so you don't get a blood clot.
  11. I'm all set for Tuesday. I didn't really have a pre op diet but I'm going to do mostly protein shakes Sun and Mon. Good luck.
  12. Mine is putting my house on the market only to have it sell quickly and having to frantically find a new house. Add to that lots of days spent at the pool and trying to keep my kids entertained and my surgery has snuck up quickly. Add yours...
  13. I just asked my NUT this same question. She has no problem with straws. She says the air is negligible and a lot of people need the straw to get fluids in at the beginning.
  14. I have to do low fat before surgery but I had my gallbladder taken out in March and so they know my liver isn't fatty so no other diet restrictions. I can even eat normally until Midnight before surgery.
  15. Have you tried the isopure protein water or the protein enriched broths?
  16. Did all of my pre surgery tests and registered at the hospital yesterday. I'm on a 1500 calorie low fat high protein diet. It hasn't been too bad. Other than that I have no pre surgery requirements. I'm scheduled for 11:00 am on the 4th. I'm ready.
  17. I guess we have to be friends to invite people...???
  18. My husband's home from work now, he'll eat it all.
  19. Thanks to my dad who sent my kids home with this while I'm on the low carb no sugar pre surgery diet.
  20. I'm Rachel Puttoff Spaulding on FB, will you add me to the groups? I couldn't find them either.
  21. August 4th at Norton Suburban in Louisville! I'm excited and scared.
  22. I got vitamins at GNC and calcium chews at CVS. I bought the EAS protein powder because it was on sale. I also got a couple of bottles of isopure in case I have problems with the protein powders. I agree with everyone else, figure out what works for your stomach and budget. This stuff can get expensive quickly.
  23. My PCP was on maternity leave when the surgery center decided they needed more clearances. This is after my PCP had filled out a giant packet for them. The Dr filling in for her did not want to sign my paperwork but finally did but made me take a bunch of tests.
  24. I'm mainly wondering if I'll want visitors. I really don't want my husband there. He'd make me crazy.
  25. I had to have a bunch of clearances and tests through my PCP (they were rude about it too) then I have to have a bunch of other pre surgery tests at the hospital on Thursday. It was awful getting it all done but once all of that junk paperwork was over it went a lot faster.
