  1. Hello all,

I've been working with a trainer for some time and while I have seen lots of changes in my body my weight has plateaued in the last 3 months.

She evaluated what I'm eating and said I need to be at 1500 calories a day...I can easily make just under 1000, 1200 takes more work to keep in my macros and today I will have gotten to 1350.

I've got my macros set as:

    25% carbs

    30% fat

    45% Protein

She gave me some fasting cardio in between sessions and we are adding Hiit at the end block of the session now. I'll try to do my best with the food in the next week and see if there is a change.

My question is- what is everyone else doing and how is it working?

How many calories are you taking in and are you still losing?

    What are your macros at?

My first trainer set a goal of 1400 calories with 120 grams of protein under 50 carbs and under 25 sugars but to use fats to reach the caloric intake as long as they were healthy fats. He said to burn fat you need to eat fat and I was losing.

The new trainer who is a much better trainer was horrified at the fat intake and said they can still do damage to the body.

So I'm trying to find the magic combination.

Anything you have to say or share is appreciated!!!

  2. Good News! I spoke with the office and even though the bill was sent to me it was generated for insurance...The only reason I received a copy was so I would be aware to send in the check to them when it came from Insurance...A few extra words indicating this on the statement would have been appreciated...but what is appreciated more is I am not expected to pay it. Phew!

  3. So, my insurance only covered $1800 of the $15,000 surgery because the doctor I chose was out of network but he offered to reduce his fee to $5000 leaving me with $3200 that I would pay off at $100 a month. He has an excellent reputation, I felt in very good hands. Everything else was in Network. Today I received the bill I was waiting for and it shows the reduced fee for my doctor and a $14,500.00 charge for a second doctor who was never discussed, not a fee for her, she is his PA. The office was closed by the time I received the bill so I will call tomorrow.

I am definitely feeling some anxiety though. I will fish out my original paperwork tonight.

    :(

  4. Wow- great feedback guys!

I'm a little daunted by the orthotics- I feel like money has been running through my fingers like Water these days- on everything but my grocery list.

But it seems from what has been said getting store bought one is better than not having a set at all?

Thank you for the shoe recommends too I have an older pair of Oboz and they should be replaced soon too.

    Thanks guys!

  5. Morning!

I have been walking more and more- I added music to my walks which makes all the difference. I got my sweat on this morning! However, after 1.25 miles most of me was ready to try a second lap and my lower back started to ache.

I know posture matters too but mine has improves greatly and someone even remarked on it yesterday.

I am considering getting a sports bra to keep excess weight centered, begin core exercises to strengthen my other muscles...I am frustrated because I want to exercise! Lol...So I'm wondering if anyone else ran into this and what you've done...maybe it is a matter of me losing more weight first. I just don't know.

  6. Basically is the food is already in the database the calories, fat, Protein , sugar, carbs and sodium fill in automatically- Keep in mind that these are items that- I believe- other humans have input and as such could be subject to human error. There is also the occasional verified item and I'm not sure what that means or how it gets verified? IN any event- Everything so far that I have checked has already been put in and I am reasonably comfortable trusting that information.

  7. I started logging my food into Myfitnesspal and today I thought I did well 758 calories, 27 carbs, 31 fat- a bit high there...91 Protein and 6 sugar.

However, the message I got from Myfitnesspal was:

"Based on your total calories consumed today, you are likely not eating enough

For safe weight loss, the National Institutes of Health recommends no less than 1000-1200 calories for women and 1200-1500 calories for men.

Even during weight loss, it's important to meet your body's basic nutrient and energy needs. Over time, not eating enough can lead to nutrient deficiencies, unpleasant side effects & other serious health problems.

    To safely meet your goals:

    • Focus on consuming nutrient-rich foods and beverages
    • Check your progress in MyFitnessPal throughout the day
    • Add nutritious Snacks between meals as needed"

Little do they know...I'm trying! LOL

  8. scale has got to be broken! LOL...The last scale that did that to me made friends with the dumpster...lol

I see a lot of variance between my scale at home and the doctor's scale. Time of day, clothes, shoes on or off and even if they weighed you on a different scale makes a difference. I'm sure you are not up a true 5 pounds..If your clothes are feeling good you should be right on track. :)

  9. I take the Flintstone's with Iron, Citrcal Calcium Pearls, and Omega 3. The Omega 3 is something I took before surgery that I have continued taking. I see a doctor friday who is going to do a metabolic panel...Actually - I have a consultation with him. I have no idea what the metabolic panel is used for...I'm guessing in part to see that my dietary needs are being met. I've been curious about B12. I was not instructed to take any.

  10. I got a cookbook called Eating well after weight loss surgery- it has some nice light sauces and some interesting ideas like zucchini flan. But I will admit for the most part I don't cook that much. I will get 2 ounces of fish at the fish counter and make that with 1/4 sauteed veggies, or a filet mignon which I split with my dog and cats-lol. I'm still a fan of a few spoonfuls of cottage cheese and that takes so little. It does seem like alot of work to make a meal for myself that is so tiny but I try to do it at least 2 or 3 times a week because it is part of taking care of myself. I tell myself that Variety is good for interest and health. :D

  11. I missed my period before surgery probably due to diet changes and the next one was a month out from surgery - It was the heaviest period I have ever had. I am hoping that it was due to the long gap in between periods. If you miss more than one it is always worth a visit to the Ob/Gyn to be sure.
