  2. I'm December 18th - just got approval today.
  3. I'm scheduled for December 18th but will also be having the IVC filter placed on the 10th.
  4. Got a message today - I was approved - surgery is December 18th.
  5. Got the message today that I am approved
  6. Congratulations I also got approved today -my surgery is December 18th.
  7. Thanks Chelle. My doctors office held my case for 3 weeks, so I'm nervous because of the short window. Good luck to you also
  8. Update - Dr office sent me an email - im approved. I am supposed to start 2 week diet on Friday. My cava filter placement is scheduled for Thursday the 10th and my surgery is scheduled for Friday the 18th. The only thing I'm missing? Approval from my insurance. My doctors office finally sent it over to my insurance. Here's to hoping for a quick approval. Fingers crossed.
  9. I'm in delaware county also and going through penn.
  10. I have been very polite (but have continued to call and email to check). After the email I sent her this morning she emailed back and said my case was sanded to the insurance company. I think most of frustration is because she continued to tell me she would get back to me and keep me updated. It happened twice. If I would have known, that would have been two times I would not have had to call and check and bother her at work.
  11. I think the lady(Irina who you probably worked with since you went through the same place) is getting annoyed with me since I keep calling and emailing. But I think I have the right since I'm not getting clear answers.
  12. Sorry for the long post - I am so FRUSTRATED and ANNOYED ! Apparently after your last weight management classes my doctors office submits your case to the GI department of surgery and they have to approve surgery. Once approved they send cases to insurances. I was told they review cases based on surgery dates. I attended my last weight management class on October 29th. My doctors office submitted to them on November 3. I have still yet to hear back. I have called multiple times and emailed my doctors contact cordinator also. I spoke with her on Monday. She said she called and spoke with th gi department about the hold up and they said they would pull my case. I am scheduled for preadmission testing Friday. Has anyone been through something like this. Any words of advice? I am so stressed. I just emailed again and requested to see if there was someone else I can speak to. I'm supposed to get the ivc filter put in on December 10 and then have surgey on the 18th - however my paperwork hasn't even been submitted to my insurance.
  13. I'm outside philly but having surgery at HUP
  14. I wish this was the case for me. They have held my case for 3 weeks now and haven't submitted. They are waiting for the GI department to approve
  15. Mine is also December 18th...pending approval.
  16. I have highmark BCBS, but it is actually a hold up at my doctors office. It hasn't been submitted to my insurance yet.
  17. I called and spoke with the case manager again today. She said she is checking in with the manager of the GI every morning - that she doesn't know why it is taking so long. I will give to Wednesday and then I'm calling to see who is in charge to talk to.
  18. Thanks. I am going to try again on Monday. I actually have my surgery scheduled for December 18th and am supposed to do pre admission testing next Friday. I don't understand how they do preadmission testing without insurance approval. I'm beyond frustrated.
  19. Did anyone use "Penn Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery"
  20. Did anyone have surgery at HUP and use Penn? If so I would love to hear your experience especially your experience with getting approved.
  21. My paperwork was apparently submitted to them on November 3. They still haven't approved yet so they haven't sent it to insurance. It must be sitting in a pile somewhere. I'm so frustrated and annoyed.
  22. I have called numerous to both insurnace and doctors. It's my doctors offices fault. Apparently after you finish your weight management classes they send your case to the precert department for surgery. The surgeons review paperwork and then approve surgey. After this they send it to your insurance. I don't know how often they meet to approve surgeries (it must be a group of the surgeons) but they look at cases based on surgery date.
  23. I was wondering how long after your last doctors appointment did you receive your approval for surgery from your insurance. Did your doctors office have to have an internal approval before submitting? My insurance has been sitting on my case for almost 3 weeks and have not heard anything yet.
