This might be a fun little 5 minute test for y'all.

I am also an ESTJ like you..... ESTJ (Extraverted Sensing Thinking Judging) As an ESTJ, your primary mode of living is focused externally, where you deal with things rationally and logically. Your secondary mode is internal, where you take things in via your five senses..... Should I be proud or scared?

    Night eating.

Try to find activities to keep you busy (crafts, emails, reading, exercise, etc.). Also as people pointed out, a Protein shake or lean protein (like some left over chicken breast) can curb that hunger since it takes longer to digest protein. You can also try having a drink first to make sure it isn't partially due to thirst. Don't feel bad, you are far from alone with this, including me.

    Body Image Issues

After all the years of having lower self esteem for allowing myself to gain as much weight as I did, I still find that I don't feel 100% comfortable having my picture taken or looking in a mirror. Granted I do both, but in the back of my mind, I still know how I did look (I know I won't see Brad Pitt looking back at me in the mirror, unless we are both looking in the mirror at the same time -I guess I'll give that a try the next time he and Angelina stop by my house ). Just use positive affirmations. You have worked very hard at losing your excess weight; over 90 pounds and counting is something to be very proud about.
  4. Just in case it hasn't been mentioned yet , the doctors and nurses recommend walking to alleviate the gas discomfort. Congratulations on your surgery.

Bananas are NOT a low carb food

Rampant hormones happens with rapid weight loss. I think too much estrogen is flowing instead of testosterone in me right now. I feel like watching the Oxygen Network and crying.

You can't have it both ways. Either she's not acting like herself or this is her status quo. She doesn't "...[have] to try make herself look" anything. Complaints about her mode of expression, thought process and personality should be addressed to her parents, teachers and others who had a hand in her upbringing. Thank you for proving my point. Yes, you are quite intelligent, based upon your writings. But this is not the forum to teach proper diction. Perhaps you can profess your self-perceived intellectual superiority on the MENSA forum? A sign of a much higher level of intelligence or even an aptitude in the written language, is not having to profess it at every opportunity someone gets or a futile attempt to make someone appear inferior.

Do you recall way back when you wrote something indicating that you're a grown-up and I told you I'd thought until then that you were an undergrad? Now you know why. I'm in no way opposed to doing research -- I do it all the time -- but not when it's someone else's. Oh, let the old walruses put straws up their noses. Why is the topic always volatile? Do what you want, straw or no, and shut up. Wow. I must have missed something. Things getting steamed up over straw jokes and fruit ???? Naaah, just the Status Quo for her. She reminds me of Dennis Miller in the way she has to try to make herself look intellectually superior. Except Dennis Miller is sometimes actually funny. I am sure she is very intelligent, based upon her writings.

I have very upsetting news for you. Bananas ARE the devil! But if they are, then why is "Angel Food" cake more fattening (ounce for ounce)?

I found the quote "madadams" posted here: http://www.shape.com/blogs/weight-loss-coach/why-you-shouldnt-ditch-bananas The author appears to have good credentials: "Cynthia Sass is a registered dietitian with master's degrees in both nutrition science and public health. Frequently seen on national TV, she's a SHAPE contributing editor and nutrition consultant to the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Rays. Her latest New York Times best seller is S.A.S.S. Yourself Slim: Conquer Cravings, Drop Pounds and Lose Inches." Some dietitians who specialize in bariatric WLS may contradict her. Note: This article wasn't written for bariatric WLS patients. Don't toss this quote out of your window, someone might slip on the peel and fall.
  12. I just visited the forum. Thank you for requesting that it should be created. This will provide useful information to WLS patients at all phases.

    My work here is done

Wow, you must have been in hurry to leave this website, you accidentally left your caps lock on. There are only a few instances of "holier than thou" attitudes here, the majority of ones that people interpret as such are from people who mean well and notice a behavior that could be dangerous to someone's health or someone is taking no responsibility for their actions and want someone to condone their bad behaviors. Also, since this is not spoken word, there are no vocal tones or facial expressions (except for emoticons) to help interpret how someone meant something.

    My work here is done

It is a shame that a few nasty people can drive away from this website at least two veterans who posted in this topic. Hopefully they will return. The other website they post in is no different.

    More food porn

I would have offered delivery, but I can't stand the "boom chicka wah wah". If you would have gone to the 90's Divinyls hit, I might have considered it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Divynyls? Funny, I get the reference. Or as Woody Allen said "Don't knock it, it is sex with someone I love".

    3wks out tacos?

@@gustavio Hi!! Guess I'm the a*****e . I'll wear that badge proudly as long as I'm being a proponent for people's health and success on this journey. (Woopsies! Here I go being condescending again, oh man. I'm the worst.) You know what wouldn't be nice? Me saying, "sure sweetie - choose that crunchy shell & spicy sauce - try to eat two! Yummmmy! And, hell, enjoy it with a double margarita." Anyone who did ANY research or spoke to ANY doctor knows damn well they shouldn't eat a flipping taco post-op. Come on. You know what my mom taught me? To grow up and stop looking for others to validate things you know are wrong. I think someone needs to stand up when ridiculous questions are asked so that those considering the surgery don't get misinformation. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App There is some excellent advice that experienced WLS patients can offer. But I would err on the side of caution and verify it with the information someone's surgeon provided them. Besides the information packet they provide and instructions, there are some very reputable sources out there from the ASMBS, JAMA and major bariatric centers of excellence and research hospitals. There may be reasons why a person has instructions that are different and should consult their team if they have any questions. For example, someone posting that they take potassium for leg cramps could be good advice unless a person has kidney issues. That is why someone's PCP's or surgeon's office should be contacted. Other things are common sense such as not eating steak at 1 week post-op WLS. But if you aren't sure, research and ask questions to people who know you medically and have medical experience. A step further why someone should look at other reputable sources is that they may have been provided information that may not be fully accurate from their health care professional. Armed with other sources of information, you can validate the information you were provided. But if someone wants to intentionally deviate from their post WLS instructions and practice in behaviors that could be threatening to their health, disregarding that they know better and shouldn't, then they will prove Darwin's Theory is correct.
