    Pre Op diet

They aren't letting you have protein shakes? Those kept me full and were the bulk of my diet. I used bariatric advantage ones-I still am not really yay on the taste though they are filling.

    Tsh and t4

My surgery was fine-it was March 23rd. My thyroid issues were diagnosed in 2005ish? My dose has needed to be increased continuously throughout the years but that's usually the case with Hashimotos. You'll find you have more energy when it's treated adequately, you can lose weight a bit easier, you can think clearer, if you have hair loss and swelling it typically will stop..

    Tsh and t4

It varies on how bad your levels are-your endocrinologist will adjust as needed. Mine likes my TSH around 1-2.0
  4. Hope she feels better soon <3
  5. Mashed potatoes -I craved them so bad.

    I Want a Drink!

I'm ok with no alcohol, I'm on meds that can cause liver failure if you drink with them.. I've been on them since my mid 20s. I don't miss it at all anymore to be honest. (And I was one to only drink liquor-I craved it) We were told at our doctors office that there was an unusually high number of people who had WLS and because they didn't realize how it affected their blood alcohol level- they didn't "feel" buzzed, but they really were technically legally drunk, that there were a bunch with DWIs.. Then there's the whole trade off addiction. Sadly I have a friend who had gastric bypass and had a DWI & is an alcoholic-I'm not sure how bypass plays out vs. the sleeve though.. Another friend who has the sleeve claims she can drink tons & feels nothing-she will not drive though..
  7. Oh and my stomach-although newly made much smaller, does growl.. I thought it wasn't supposed to. It's so weird to me. I just eat small amounts or drink liquids & I'm fine-but the growling happens. My kids have even commented on it.
  8. We had only clear liquids, no protein shakes for the first week. It was just to let the stomach heal.
  9. Does she have the patch that goes behind the ear? It's something they gave me pre-surgery & was kept on for like 5 days after.. It has medicine in it-I'm not sure what, but I had no nausea.
  10. I couldn't have mayo pre-surgery due to digestive issues.. So tuna salad is always a no for me :-( I loved it at one time though..
  11. Is this for people who have acid issues prior? Afaik my doctors office doesn't do this.. But I didn't have acid issues previously. I think I actually do though now-I tried to drink v8 & eww..
  12. I had staples.. They removed them before I left the hospital. Then the nurses in the hospital applied glue & strips. I wore an abdominal binder for like 2 weeks, I was given that in the hospital.

    I'm so sad

I was scheduled for the lapband, I did all the pre-op stuff & my BMI ended up being too low (my psychiatrist took my off a major weight gaining drug & I lost 90lbs in 4.5 months) well, a year later I was on massive amounts of steroids due to another health condition and gained weight again-my endocrinologist highly recommended the sleeve over the lapband.. So I decided to go with that. Yeah get a second opinion.. I yo-yo'd all the time & that can't be healthy (I also take beta blockers-well did for tachycardia) it didn't stop my surgery..

    Daily Protein Requirements?

Our goal is 60grams protein(for females-80grams protein for males).. I wonder why the vast difference? I like using unjury -I use half a scoop in herbal tea.. I drink protein shakes too..

    Normal progression ?

I stalled this last week and a half-but I was retaining water due to starting my period.
  16. My doctor is in the US, he's American.. But was partially trained in Mexico & as far as I know even did surgeries there. So far I've had zero complications-I'm 3 weeks out. I'd definitely go there if insurance didn't cover it & they were well known. Btw-I had staples, then glue & strips.. Outwardly I healed in like under 2 weeks (I'm also a diabetic, but my numbers went normal immediately-so healing was a dream) as far as I know I'm still healing inwardly..
  17. Yep-but it's getting better? I think it might have to do with anesthesia-I'm not sure? I was sleeved on 3-23
  18. Mine was a week preop diet & I did well.. It wasn't as hard as I thought. I used the bariatric advantage shakes & they kept me full, but I still don't like the taste. I lost weight beforehand and was eating smaller portions so I wouldn't be starving hungry during this.. (My insurance took over a year to approve me-but I got into losing weight on my own slowing but surely the last 6 months I'd say?)
  19. I'm just getting used to more meats-so it's definitely a different experience vs. soft mushy foods
  20. I ate lean ground beef for breakfast and without thinking as I got the kids ready for school about 15 minutes later I drank water-omg did it give me an overfull feeling.

Feel the need to go "Hog Wild"

You should call your dr-if they are removing meds cold turkey & you feel faint.. I was taken off only metformin & birth control (and still on a bunch of others) when I did the diet. My blood sugar was great-if you have diabetes, watch your numbers too.

    March 2015 Sleevers

Where do you get the Premier? Does it have lactose-i am severely lactose intolerant. I have 2 bags of vanilla Bariatric advantage at the moment..
  23. My doctor and nutritionist gave us the green light & no I had no discomfort, I've also not thrown up ever.

Feel the need to go "Hog Wild"

I'm a little over 2 weeks out-I can eat, not 6 oz of chicken.. That's insane. She probably ate more than just that I'm thinking & gorged herself-that's sad :-(
