I was just going to say that when the meat is drier it kills me. Chicken breast unless it is in something I can almost never eat.

Questions I need help answering
TXMissy replied to Big Opie's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I have bcbsil and everything went well except the final approval that I had to wait almost 4 weeks for. I was so disappointed, but it gave me a little extra time to prep the mind. -
Recommendations: protein supplement , etc
TXMissy replied to KLM1959's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I prefer the premiere shakes. They are by far done of the best tasting. The have like 30g of protein per shake. -
Anything is possible. I know sometimes I tolerate eggs well and then other times I take a bite and I'm full. I have not tried mushrooms, I don't know how I'll react.

TXMissy replied to Daisy0818's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I slept most comfortably I. The recliner for the first few days. Walk as much as possible, it really helps. Up and down the driveway is nice so you can get out. Hope you recover quickly! -
Impatient hombre wanting to borrow some of your wisdom.
TXMissy replied to Dub's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Those first few days I just ate because I thought I was suppose to. I had low fat yogurt and a cup would last me 3 servings, I couldn't drink milk preop so I just kept unsweetened almond on hand to Water down pudding and yogurt. chicken broth was good but very small amounts like 2oz was more than a meal, Protein shakes were good but even those I watered down with almond milk. I love Quest bars, my favorite is Peanut Butter and jelly. At first you may not be able to eat them. I am 3 months post op and just recently started eating regularly. You'll find people really don't care if you eat or not. At first it was awkward for me, but really people don't care. If they order in sandwiches eat the filling. I just eat what I can when I can. I was home for a week, second week was rough, but I managed. I was very tired. I'm not sure I would have been able to take a full 2nd week off because I started getting antsy sitting around the house. I was wandering outside walking to the corner and back which is only like 3 lots. The more walking I did and still do the better I feel. When they let you walk, walk. I was given some clothes, I had a few different sizes and I just bought clothes is smaller than I had for the first time. I wish I had more time to exercise, but my level of motion has increased so much. I use to not be able to put my socks on with out struggling. Now I can do it standing up. I'm about to join a new gym, I'm hoping to shed more weight through exercise. I think the biggest surprise is my ever changing body. I have been this size before but I don't remember feeling like I do. I feel amazing. Good luck to you!! I hope my answers have helped. I wish j would have done this 5 years ago!! -
Mobeans- I consider all that slider foods. If I can't get anything else down I eat yogurt. There have been plenty of nights that I sit down to eat. I try to chew up my chicken or turkey patty and it no go. My saving grace every time is my yogurt or cottage cheese. I can kill a 4 oz cup of yogurt and not think twice. However if I can get 2 maybe 3 oz of chicken, turkey, tuna, I am doing great.

I'm 3 months out. I was out of town all last week on vacation. I didn't eat like I'm use to not only what I ate but when I ate. My schedule was way off. The last few days was tough. I wasn't sleeping good at night. I paid for it through last weekend and I could barely function today. I'm tired. I spent a couple of days nauseous. My eating went back to basics this week. Lot of soft bland food. I'm hoping I am just having a hard time bouncing back. In addition to all of this I had a mirena iud put in two weeks ago and I fear some of this feeling is me still adjusting to the hormones. Ready for a weekend at home for sure!

At 17 days I would say no. I had a few pieces last week when we went to the movies and it was honestly horrible. I won't do it again. My stomach was sick the rest of the day.

Pre-Op High Liver Functions
TXMissy replied to StefanieSparklePants's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My liver count was high as well as post op. I will go in next week for my 3 month so we shall see where I am. I'm down 74 lbs total, I expect my numbers to look better overall. -
Pre-op Liquid Diet
TXMissy replied to StefanieSparklePants's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost weight but it seemed like the last couple of days I lost more. The dr can tell if you have done what you are supposed to or not. The goal at the point is to shrink your stomach to reduce the chance of the dr knicking your liver. The weight will come off after surgery, don't worry. -

Two Weeks Post GB. Doing TOO Well. Nothing Seems To Make Me Sick.
TXMissy replied to gbveteran4d's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was the same way and at about 10 weeks it all changed. My pouched tightened up and I'm at about 4-6 oz depending on what I eat. Just work on getting in you protein and water. They are most important. -
chicken broth saved my life during my liquid diet. I know some companies have a savory Protein Soup mix instead of the shakes. You will look back in a couple of months and know you struggled, but you also know it paid off. You will thank yourself for everything you did. It's funny I went to lunch and ordered steamed veggies and the amount of butter they were in was disgusting. I remember choking down the same veggies 6 months ago and thinking how flavorless these veggies were. Something happened to me. I don't understand it!!

I don't eat out well. I stick to soups or salad.

Egg salad, well blended tuna with a little mayo, deviled eggs (I would actually stuff my eggs with tuna), light baby bel cheese, I stuck meatballs, spaghetti sauce and mozzarella cheese in a food processor. Pinto beans or refried beans.

How about some NSVs!?!?
TXMissy replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was getting ready for church and went to look for a dress to wear. I found a dress that I had from before I was married or had children (I think it's 15 years old). I didn't think that it would fit, but I decided to try it. Perfect fit. I couldn't believe my eyes. That means that is the smallest thing in my closet so I think a shopping trip is going to have to take place soon! -
Mayo in your tuna salad or egg salad?
TXMissy replied to Karlnjax's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use and have always used even before surgery light miracle whip or light duke's mayo. It was what was recommended to me when I did weight watchers years ago. I never switched back. Since surgery though I tend to use a little avocado and less of my mayo of choice. -
Oh great!! I am going to keep an eye on it. I see the surgeon on the 23rd. I guess it could be. I had grilled chicken wings and I took 2 of my husbands French fries. I'm very careful about what I eat, but I couldn't resist tonight. This isn't the first time this happened And normally it's protein and veggies.
-
I will see my dr the 23rd, but I may call this week. After I eat no matter what it is I get very tired. It's this horrible feeling like I need to go to sleep. I can't function. It passes after 30 minutes or so. The best feeling I can describe is on the wizard of is when Dorothy sees the emerald city and they walk through the flowers and they are running, but it puts them to sleep. That is exactly how I feel. I feel great and then zap!!

post-op 1+ years - stretching out pouch?
TXMissy replied to drmeow's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had a friend that had gastric bypass surgery years ago. She was very anemic (requiring transfusions twice per year), suffered from dental issues, and dumped constantly (I didn't know that was what she was doing). I was very unsure about doing rny because of her. It was the very first thing I told my surgeon. However, knowing what I know now, she didn't take any vitamins, she ate what she wanted to and usually things I will not eat again, her sugar intake was scary. She blamed the surgery, but she should have been blaming herself. She is everything I don't want to be. I haven't hit my 3 month follow up, I'm scared but excited at the same time. My changes in my diet make me happy and I'm so worried about not being her that I work harder. It's choices you have to make and commit to. I would not eat a subway sandwich. As a matter of fact I was in a situation where it was subway or pizza. I decided to get a salad with tuna from subway. It beat all the carbs and I still ate less than a quarter of the salad and maybe half of the tuna. I can't talk for anyone else who has had rny, but bread and sodas are definitely not on my plan. -
It will get better. I focus on my drinking and also on my protein. There are days I just can't get it all in. I don't stress because if I do then it makes it worse. First thing out of bed I have to take my thyroid meds. If I don't then I'm off for the rest of the day because I have to wait an hour to eat or drink. There are days that I'm so busy at work that I forget to eat in between meals. (I never thought I'd see the day that I say that) so I stick as closely to the plan as possible. I've lost 71 lbs since April. It's coming off and I feel great for the most part. I've sat down at times to eat and could only take 2 bites and then there have been times that I feel I could just eat forever. I know this is normal. So I don't think that you have to kill to yourself with feeling like you are eating. I think the Nut is just trying to help you, but you really have to figure it out what works and how to get it all in.

I eat 3 meals and in the morning about 10:30 I drink my protein shake, about 4 or 5 I eat half a protein bar (it's very filling) or I eat cut up chicken and nuts. With that being said my meals are very small. They look more like snacks vs meals because I eat so little. I get home very late on week days so I don't eat dinner until 8.

Did your style change
TXMissy replied to lisa0617's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This Texas glam thing I've got going on is something I can live with. I cut my hair, put on some lipstick and if it blings I love it. My confidence is up, I feel great, look great, but really trying to stay down to earth like I have always been. I think the worst thing anyone has said to me is that I'm so radiant it's hard to approach me. Maybe I need to tone it down because that's not me. I feel great and I continue to achieve that!!
