Is anyone freezing?
TXMissy replied to LisaDomalewski's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so cold. I live in Southeart Tx, it's hot here. We are already in the 80's. The a/c is on full blast here. I literally go outside to warm up. I have been wearing a goodie to work for the last 2 weeks and I have to sticky my hands in my pockets to warm up. It's craZy! -
I am wondering because I am a devout Catholic, would it be ok to take communion at church tomorrow? Any advice would be appreciated.
-
Thank you all. I did take the bread this morning. I will hold off on the wine for a few weeks. Everything went well, of course I prayed for it to go well all through mass.

Post surgery questions
TXMissy replied to tina winkle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor prescribed me Ursodiol, I think the name brand is actigall To prevent gallbladder issues. I will be taking it for 6 months. He refused to remove mY gallbladder. I know the perforated colon is a risk that he told me about prior to surgery. His words exactly was follow my plan. His diet, his vitamin plan, exercise. He said 99% of his patience have had no problems when they do everything he tells them. so I have been. I'm not that far out, but I'm sure the rusk is there. I just don't know what the chances of having both issues are or how one would effect the other. -
Sorry I left out that I am 1.5 weeks out. We use real wine, so I won't be taking that. Just don't want to risk anything. I have followed my diet so strictly thus far, when we were making plans to attend mass this morning my mom asked if I could take communion. I just looked at her and said I hadn't even thought about it. I'm thinking I am just going to play it safe and not take it. I would fewl horrible if it came back up or something.

I'm on bariatric advantage as well. I have the chocolate flavor. Love them. Using their multi, probiotic, vitamin d, and calcium.

Clothing Advice while recovering and after surgery
TXMissy replied to snickysnack78's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have the luxury to wear jeans to work evetyday. After surgery not so sure it is a luxury. I have been wearing my jeans that still fit, but because they were running on my incisions, I took a hair tie and stuck it through the button hole and then hooked it on the button. My pants have stayed closed, but it feels more like a pair of yoga pants. -
I'm getting discouraged!
TXMissy replied to DrewzWife's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't get discouraged. Yes it seems like forever, but all you can Do is wait. I wanted my surgery a month before I got it. As a matter of fact, I was approved through the doctor's office and waited for the darn insurance for over 3 weeks. They were the longest 3 weeks. my car was in the shop and they weren't fixing it very fast. I waited for phone calls all day long. I would call the clinic every few days only to be told no. But miraculously it all came together and I got my surgery. You will too, hang in there! -

5 days out - Are Eggs ok?
TXMissy replied to BoerneTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 6 days post op, I have been on full liquids since Friday. Yogurt, cream soups and pudding are all on my list as long as I am watering them down. I have just been using a little bit of unsweetened almond milk to do that. I was on a 2 week liquid diet post op. The struggle is real, but I don't dare do anything until I am told. My biggest fear is that if I do I'll postpone getting back to work. Pureed foods are next after I see my dr on Thursday. I'm getting closer to soft foods and I can't wait. -
I'm 5 days post op. The gas is definitely an issue. I am having what almost feels like a hiccup that hurts. It's located on my left side between my breast. It only last a second or two, but boy dies it hurt. The more I walk the better I feel. I have had almost no pain post op Other than from gas and my back from the dang stretcher I layed on for 5 hours.
-
I am 5 days post op, I don't even get a hungry feeling. I eat because I know I have to. I have had up to a half cup and I'm fine. I'm scared to push it any further. I'm finding if I eat a little and wait a few hours then have something else I am ok. Pushing lots of water, but it's hard getting in the 32 Oz my doctor said to intake.

Weight fluctuation on liquid diet?
TXMissy replied to KerryRNY04162015's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I keep dropping. my weight loss did slow some. I was losing 3 lbs a day and now after 12 days its about 1 lb. -
Very scared.. Right decision?
TXMissy replied to turndown4what91's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am so excited, but I have so many questions. I want answers, but I think some of it we are just going to have to find out on our own. I can't wait to find my first pair of jeans in the regular size section, or to walk between two chairs without fear of not fitting. I am so glad that there is someone on here to share each step with. We have 2 days to go!! You got this! -
Talk to your dr about your blood sugar. I know mine said if you had diabetes there was something else to do as an alternative. I am on bariatric advantage as well, but not crazy about the sweetness. I'd prefer savory taste.
-
I have been using unsweetened almond milk, throwing some cinnamon in for taste. My dr was ok with both. However, I think he is testing my will power because I am limited to 3-5 shakes a day depending on base and additives. Oh and water. Yes peeing every 4 minutes is a pain. I can't wait as tomorrow is my last day on shakes. Tuesday is a clear diet and Wednesday morning is surgery!!! Omg!!! Its finally here!!

TXMissy replied to tifperez41515's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since the 1st. almost there though. I have lost 19 lbs though. I'm proud of myself. Finding it harder to finish my shakes. -
I had my consultation on January 29th, All my nutrition, psych and egd done by Feb 20th, took 3 weeks to get my insurance final approval and I had preop on April 1st, scheduled for April 15th.
-
Thanks jevinity. I have had a couple of days where the broth saved me. They didn't tell I could have it. I'm just not big on sweet stuff and that's it. I need food or at least food flavored stuff. Almost there though. Today has been the best day. I am finding it harder to finish the shakes.
