  1. Way to go!!! I have been pondering what I will do with my fall/winter clothes. I know I won't be able to use them. The support groups in my area meet at odd times so I can't make it there. Perhaps a women's shelter could use them.
  2. It gets better. Hang in there! I am 4 weeks post op today. It's still very fresh to me. I can tell you when you get to this point, you will look back and be thankful. You have just improved your health. If you are in pain, call the nurse. They will help you.
  3. I keep it simple. A cup of soup, beans, grilled chicken. Stay away from the obvious like fried, greasy, sweet foods. I was determined not to change my family's routine or meal time. I'm not going to sit here and lie. When that chip basket is staring me in the face tempting me, all I want to do is grab one. I just remember that everything I am doing is going to keep me around a little longer.
  4. My battery in my scale is out!!! I guess that is how I will stay off of it this time!
  5. No, but i got new batteries over the weekend. I lost 5 lbs last week. I thought I was at a stall.

    Lots of pills

Yes. All these pills. In the morning my husband calls it my 2nd breakfast. I'm almost 4 weeks out and they are so hard to remember, but it's getting better. It new habits. I can say, they are helping my water intake.

    Need an uplifting

It took me a good 2 weeks post op to regain my energy. even at almost 4 weeks, when I push myself I feel very tired. I just rest when I'm tired. It's getting better though. I do feel like I have taken a dose of my 9 year old's energy at times. I feel amazing and better than ever.
  8. Excellent! I too went to a couple of restaurants. it's just knowing your boundaries and enjoying the company. I also got lots of compliments from family and friends. It feels good because I am not the only one seeing it. I feel good!!
  9. So I started my liquid diet yesterday. I just have this weird smell in my nose. Is it just me? who else is having to do the liquid diet 2 weeks prior to surgery?
  10. I fit in a booth at a restaurant!!
  11. I am. I am eating soft foods. Lots of egg whites, tuna, low fat yogurt. It's getting better. If I can chew it up real goid I eat it. I love the jennie-o breakfast turkey sausage. I use a little bit of it (less than an oz) and mix in a couple of egg whites and scramble them up. Yummm!!
  12. I expected to be cold, but never like this. I am wearing a hoodie 24/7. I've lost 20 lbs since my 4/15 surgery. I live in Houston, so they have those a/c's running as we are getting warm outside. My husband made a comment that I move a lot after surgery. I told him it was because I am so cold. I am trying to warm up! Am I alone on yhis?

    Newbie

Congrats on your surgery date. It's going to come fast. I would highly recommend start making the changes now. Start drinking water and water only. If you have to have flavor make sure it has little to no calories. No caffeine. Start cutting back, start eating on a smaller pLate. You can do it. Good luck to you!

    BBQ

They have a great chicken plate. I think it's called Margarita chicken. It has a salsa on top that isn't spicy. Also, I'm sure if you don't want something on it that you ask them to put it on the side or leave it off all together. The nice thing about lots of chain restaurants is that they are putting healthier options on their menus.

    Time off work for recovery

I had surgery on 4/15, back to work after my one week appt on the 23rd. I was a little sore and tired. 2 weeks post op I really noticed a change.Tons of energy, not as tired. I feel like the moving around helped.I don't sit still very well. My plan was to only be off a weeK from the start. Any longer, I would have had to go climb a tree or something. The more I move and exercise the better I feel!
  16. I kept my surgery from no one. I have been deeply criticized, complimented, supported and then the "you're brave" comments. I am ok with all of those, but it's the questions about how much weight I've lost, or what I want to lose, or even the discussion about clothes size.

    No Complications

No complications so farm I had gbp on 4/15/15. I'm feeling great. I'm ready to start really exercising. I ran into a woman at my 1 week check. She asked when I was having my surgery. I told her I was 1 week post op. She said she was 2 weeks post op. She looked like I felt a day after surgery. I feel fantastic. Eating is going well, weight loss is slowing a bit but going well, walking a lot. No pain. I was back at work a week later. It couldn't have gone better!

    Trouble with vitamins

I am on bariatric advantage. I have chocolate and peanut butter chocolate. I am not a fan of the shakes at all. They have a horrible after taste to me. I am also taking their multi with iron, probiotics and vitamin d. I have not had any ill side effects. I am on bariatric advantage. I have chocolate and peanut butter chocolate. Blood drawn for labs

They drew blood the day of surgery and also the day after. Not sure why. I felt like a pin cushion while in the hospital. Good luck on your surgery!

    Let's talk about EXERCISE!

Still under restrictions, but it didn't stop me from walking at lunch and then in the evenings. I even jogged a block for thd first time in forever, Yesterday. I can't wait to be able to do more of a workout. Both of my kids are active and are ready to put me to work.
  21. I don't exclude myself from my family's meals. for example I made spaghetti and meatballs the other night. I simply took out 2 meatballs and while the meat was cooking I threw in some veggies to roast in the oven. The kids were excited that they too had veggies. It worKs. if they are having steak or something I can't have I make do. I'll boil an egg, make a veggie omelet, or some tuna. I just make it work for me. It's a way of life, a new lifestyle change that I'm going to live with the rest of my life.
  22. I know my meal looks nothing like anyone else's. Every one knows I had the surgery. It's no secret. I bring my lunch and I'm use to sitting in silence because no one talks during lunch. However, now people are offering me food or gawking at my meal. it's weird. My meal wasn't even that odd today. I had some sliced ham, a half of a cheese stick and 1/3 of a banana. It's weird to me.
  23. I wasn't allowed anything until the day after surgery. I was also given the mouth swabs and some watered down myth was solution. It did help though. The next morning I was taken down for my swallow test then I was able to have pretty much any clear liquid I wanteD. It wasn't too bad.
  24. Rolling into 3 weeks post op. Feeling good. Ready to move to soft foods. Losing weight and starting to see it. How are y'all doing?

    Not noticing weight loss?

Ummmm.... you sent me the pics the other night and you look great. I can see it in you face and neck. 30 lbs is huge! What an accomplishment! Look at it this way, go pick up a 10 lb weight (that's all you can pick up post op) and imagine carrying 3x that, walking around how long would you be able to walk carrying it in your arms!! You are getting there!! Congrats on your weight loss!
