  1. Within the first week. I remember gettin dressed a week after surgery and putting on my shirt. I looked in the mirror and it was obvious. I started to cry.

    Water

I struggle. I find for me drinking out of a glass with ice helps. Not sure why. This journey is mind control in so many ways.

    A great read!

So many points. The ladies I work with seey struggles mentally. I see the weight loss in my clothes, but i don't see it on me in the mirror. One of them said we need to go shopping and I think that's my biggest fear. What if I go and grab a 22 and have to get a 24 still. It's my mind playing games on me. I am scared of me!
  4. So even my own literature from my dr, the Nut and the bariatric dept contradicted each other. My surgeon is a but radical. He basically said go vegetarian (not happening). He told me drinking and eating should be completely separate and you should not drink for an hour and a half after eating. The paper work from the clinic 1 hour. The nut 30 minutes, the hospital 30 minutes. So I wait at least 30 minutes. If I waited an hour and a half, I would never get all my water in. I try to stick in the 30 - 45 minute range.

    Surgery Schedule - Advice?

My best advice is follow your doctor's orders. There is a reason for everything they tell you.
  8. I tok a week off. I work an office job. Mostly sitting. I was sore and driving across town wore me out. If you can take more than a week I would. My company is privately owned and we don't get much time off.
  9. I wish I were more persistent. I felt bad too. I found thd more I called the more foliar they became with me. When I had my 1 week checkup, they all hugged me and the compliments were so awesome. It felt good.

    Too easy?

Congrats!! It sounds like you had a very successful surgery. I too had no complications. I made surgery look easier than snapping my fingers. It's a mindset. I went into it deciding thst I was going to be healed and recovered in 1 week. I was told I was crazy. I had no actual pain post op. My recovery has been so amazing to me. I'm down almost 50 lbs and I feel great. I had no idea breathing could feel this wonderful. I know someone who had surgery the same day as me and has hit so many obstacles. None of which I experienced. I almost feel guilty that my surgery went so smoothly in comparison. You are doing great!!

    1 night hospital stay?

I was there 2 nights. I really wanted to go home after the first night. I was so uncomfortable. Not to mention falling asleep only to someone poking and prodding at me and waking me up. I was approved for up to 7 days.
  12. On lunch alone, I'm saving about $30 a week. I'm no longer buying any breakfast, but that doesn't account for the maybe $1-$2 worth of food I eat from home. So maybe another $10 a weeK. As for dinner, our cost have remained the same. It's the one meal I do share with my family. So whatever is cooked, I will a small amount, eat some of it and add my food to it or not it at all, but i still have something. Are we saving money all around, yes!! The plus side of this whole change is that they are changing too. My husband is down a shirt size. Sodas are no longer being bought (huge ordeal in thus house that a $20 a week habit in this house). Less junk and more fruits and veggies. They may be higher cost, but as a whole we are healthy. I'm so happy and honestly would pay anything to see it!!
  13. Sounding normal!! Congrats!!

    Personal question.

It was 4 days, then I spent the next 7 fighting constipation. The tge next 4 was pure torture because everything ran straight through me. Now I only go ever 2-3 days. It's become my new regular.

    Pins & Needles - - HELP!

I would definitely reach out to your foctor. However, I did read somewhere maybe here or somewhere else that the weight loss does weird stuff. Some of it nerve related. I had a lot of that feeling when I was preop. My rheumatologist thought it was strictly carpal tunnel. Which makes sense. However, post op I am not having it. At times I couldn't feel my right hand at all. It was horrible. I hope it's nothing serious.

    Help????

I was going to say I felt that way at first. When I went to my follow up my surg who also is a gastroenterologist put me on nexium and ursodiol (to prevent issues with my gall bladder). Since then as long as I take the nexium I don't have that feeling. It was horrible.
  17. I have weighed myself every day since I can remember. I have been obsessed with my weight and dieting since I was 8. so I have literally seen myself go from 65 lbs to 324 and now back to 279. Talk about crazy, you are looking at her. I won't change that now. It part of my routine, go to bathroom, wash hands, get on the scale. When the battery goes out I feel lost. It's just like a watch dying. I still wear it because it feels weird not to.
  18. I am in my 5th week. I had surgery April 15th. I was losing and losing, then the 4th week hit and it stopped for me. my scale is finally moving again. I just kept doing what I was told. Eating when I'm suppose to and drinking as much as I can. Thd good news is that when my scale stopped moving, my body kept changing. I noticed more in the last week my pants are so much more loose, my bra (well I think it's time to go shopping), and my shoes. Thank God my sweet mother bought me a new pair of tennis shoes. I feel like I am walking in someone else's shoes.

    Help????

I am in my 5th week out. Are you taking any meds other than vitamins?
  20. I'm in my 5th week. I'd love to sit here, and say I've got it all under control, but in reality I don't know what to eat. I forget my vitamins. Then I feel guilty. Water. Ughhh....I'm drinking about 75% of my daily goal. The only thing I can say for sure is that I feel good. My already busy life has been complicated by chasing children and now trying to deal with my changes. I don't eat slow enough and boy do I pay for it. My family is so supportive including my 9 year old who ask every time I stick something in my mouth, can you eat that? Lol!! I know it's going to get easier, but still figuring it all out!
  21. Not much pain more sore feeling. I slept a lot. 2nd day was a little better. Left the hospital that day. Home was nice, but had trouble sleeping in my bed. I camped out on the recliner.

    Good things are happening!

So awesome!! Congrats on your weight loss and your new position at work!
  23. It's so hard. I think that has been the hardest part of my journey. I will admit I questioned whether I was cut out for surgery or not. I did stick to it. I made it and it was so worth it. I lost 20 lbs pre op. It gets easier, it's only a little longer. Yes, the cravings will be there, but the satisfaction of seeing your weight fall off is soooooo much better!!

    Breaking Out

Your body has gone through so many changes recently. It would make complete sense. I know my skin has been super dry. It's weird. I have been slathering cream for the last week. I'm just making sure to get as much water as I can in and still working on getting these vitamins in.
