  1. For the first time in a long, long, LONG time the weight listed on my drivers license is my actual weight! Super happy! Now I have to get to the weight listed on my original drivers license and I will be all set.

I'm going to wait until I'm at goal. Whatever that number is, I will know when I get there.

Thank you! Yeah mine isn't supposed to be renewed until 2018 I believe. I'm not planning on waiting that long. Worked too hard and have come a long way. Plus I hate the picture lol

You just keep on being yourself and rolling along with your life. Big things will be happening when you are ready. That's a hell of a start, too. Much respect.

    Friday NSV Thread

A couple of weeks before surgery, I bought a pair of jeans that I could only dream of fitting in. Today is blue jean Friday at work, and I am rocking them bad boys:)

    January VSG

January 7th for me...Good Luck everyone!
  9. I have been using decaf coffee with sugar free vanilla and mixing it with my Vanilla Premier Protein shake....and it is awesome! I was very nervous about starting the liquid diet but I actually enjoy the Premier shakes. I guess my pre op is a little bit easier though, I am allowed one small meal a day until the day before and then it is all liquids. Good Luck to you!

    Need some help ladies!

@Ravend26- I have the same issue. (my sister in law is getting married on the same day!) We ordered ours from David's too, I wore a size 22 when I tried the dress on and they ordered a 18 for me. It takes the same amount of time for our dresses to come in also, but they did tell me to come in the first week of February and try on a size 18 in that dress. If it looked like it was close to fitting they would try to do a rush order and get the dress in a 16 (or smaller if needed). I would much rather pay the 20.00 rush fee than pay 60.00+ in alterations. They may be able to do that for you as well. Hope that helps!
  11. @smcclendon--I am from Alabama. Surgery is January 7th. Good Luck to you!

    Approved!

@@Chelle Bean--Congrats! I was hoping to be sleeved before the end of the year too but mine is scheduled for January 7th. Good Luck to you though for getting a December surgery!
  13. I completed my 7 month weight management program yesterday and forwarded all clinical to my coordinator this morning. She has already submitted to my primary insurance-which we are expecting it to deny right away. Then she will fax everything to my secondary BCBS AL and hopefully have a approval within 30 days. Surgery is expected to be January or February, at first I was mad that it would be another 3-4 months before surgery. Now I am trying to be as positive as I can be, it will give me a few more months to ensure that I am in the right mind set for this lifestyle change. I am 95% certain that I am. The other 5% is just being scared of the unknown. I am ready to be healthy, happy, and hot! Okay maybe not hot but maybe a little more cute than I am now lol...

    Now comes the wait!

I got my approval letter from BCBS today! I have never been so relieved! Cannot wait to call the office first thing Monday morning to schedule surgery. Yaaaay!
  15. @DUB-You need to be on a episode of Pitmasters! I bet Myron, Tuffy, and Moe would approve!

Thank you all for your encouragement!

    Now comes the wait!

Thank you, Chelle Bean! Good Luck to you as well. Hopefully time will fly and you will have your approval in no time. Southern Sleever- My primary and secondary are both BCBS AL but for some reason when my primary policy denies they have to fax in the information to the secondary along with the denial letter. Are/Did either of you use a surgeon from the Birmingham area?

BCBS AL (PEEHIP) - out of pocket expenses?

@Brasherx2I know this is a older post but can you tell me if BCBS AL went back and paid for your initial visit if you were approved for the surgery? Mine didn't pay for the first visit either, but I was told to wait by the office coordinator because sometimes BCBS AL will go back and pay for the very first visit.

    BCBS ALABAMA

I am currently in the 6 month process of physician led weight loss program, when I went to my weight loss seminar I was told by my doctor that if I lost more than 30 pounds that I could possibly be denied by my insurance. My ob/gyn is doing my weight loss management and she prescribed me phentermine and Glucophage. I know that I can lose weight taking these medications I have in the past but as always I pack the pounds back on and then some. I am scared that if I lose more than 30 pounds that insurance will deny me and I will be back at square one. I was wondering if anyone else with BCBS AL has had this issue and could share your own experience with this. I have PCOS so I am insulin resistant and I also have my medical record proving that I have struggled with my weight for the past five years.

    BCBS ALABAMA

My surgeon is the one who told me that if I lost 30 pounds in the pre op diet that I wouldn't qualify for the surgery more than likely. If I do I will be below 40 BMI, so my plan is to continue on with the weight program and try to only lose 20-25 pounds during the program. I feel as though surgery is my last option to finally lose the excess weight, I know it is not going to be effective unless I am fully committed to this new lifestyle.
