Did you have to use fmla or short term disability? I'm hoping that I will only need a week or two. I plan on using vacation time.

Thank you so much for responding. I got approved for the bypass. My date is May 4th. I've been thinking about it a lot and I'm leaning more towards the sleeve. I hope its not too late to change my mind. I'm going to ask them about it tomorrow. Thanks again

@@Sweetjess602 I've been struggling with the same issue. I bought one of those vapor pens or ecigs. I started out with 12mg then 6mg and now zero nicotine. I think it helps me just to see the smoke coming from it. It also helps to do deep breathing exercises as well as remind yourself of the benefits. I'm happy that i no longer smell like an ashtray. lol. You can do it! Don't beat yourself up. Try reading The Easy way to stop smoking. It can help change your perspective about smoking. I hope this helps a bit.

I'm scheduled for May 4th as well! I had cancelled it due to fear and then rescheduled it. I had my mind set on the sleeve, but my surgeon suggested bypass. This site is really helping me to get over my fears. Thank you all for sharing.

Thank you all for sharing. It felt a bit invasive because she wanted to know about my medical history, medications i take and so on. She then asked if she could continue to call and check on me. I usually only talk to my doctor about these things. She may be only trying to help but my doctors and staff are doing a great job. Its not really needed.

I received a call this morning from a nurse with my insurance company. She asked a lot if questions and wanted to let me know that she was here to help. I have to admit, i felt uneasy about speaking to someone I've never met about my health information. Has anyone else experienced this with the insurance company? I just received my approval yesterday by the way.

Has anyone had the a nurse from the insurance company contact them? I did and it felt a little creepy with all of the questions she asked. I didn't really feel comfortable talking to a stranger about such personal things.

I needed this as well @ morethan_justa_prettyface. I just received the call today that i was approved for the surgery and the what ifs kicked right in.

Please do tell. I have the funds set aside for my portion of the cost, however I'm getting cold feet. Not sure if i want to continue on this journey. I may just give it another shot at doing it on my own.

what was your reason for choosing the sleeve? Was that your initial choice?I am in a similar BMI and my surgeon only does the sleeve.

I started the process last year and got approved but lost my job and was unable to continue the process. they move pretty quickly. It all depends on how long it takes to complete the steps your insurance requires. As soon as that's done they will submit it to insurance for approval. I have insurance again and am starting the process again. Thankfully i don't have to do the supervised diet over again. I just cant decide on sleeve or bypass.

Barker Bariatric....Charlotte Hodges. My insurance had a cap and I had to pay a lot myself....they will work with you. Most places are cheaper when you are self pay because they don't have to deal with insurance

Oh ok. My job requires no lifting at all. I'm sitting at a desk all day. I think i should be fine. I hear people saying that your energy level is pretty low initially. Hoping i can push through and go back to work sooner than later.
