I was sleeved on the 15th of April and I too noticed a forgetfulness during the liquids phase. I couldn't find the words I was looking for when conversing. Id loose my train of though easily, etc...I found it improved as I got to the purees and mushies. Maybe the anesthesia was still working itself off too.

oops I forgot. My Doc had me on a low carb diet(under 40 g) for two weeks before surgery to shrink my liver and make the laproscopic surgery safer and easier to do. During that time I did dramatically reduce the fruit intake.

Mostly after surgery you are focusing on getting in your Protein and Water. You are on a graduating diet to give your new stomach time to heal. Everyone's doctors are different for the time you stay in each stage. For me it was two days Clear liquids, one week liquids, one week purees, then mushies for two weeks, then slowly introduce foods back to your system. I was allowed to put fruit (without seeds) into my purees stage, but no added sugar. Now I'm on mushies and I can have bananas and mangoes (very ripe) but limited. My nutritionist would much prefer carbs from fruit than bread or rice.
All that being said, you will have a very tiny tummy. There just isn't a bunch of room in there. Your primary focus WILL be Protein, protein, protein then hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
When you get back to a normal diet fruit can be added into your diet but you will always want your protein fist.

I was wondering the same thing and spoke to my nutritionist this AM. Protein and Water goals are my focus. My NUT said not to worry about the calories in this healing period. After I'm released for "regular" eating she said Id be focusing on Protein and Water and calories in the range of 1000-1200. She also mentioned that everyone is different and needs different calories based on their size and activity level.

The chicken broth is yummy. It really helped to bring in a more normal flavor during my liquids phase AND it gave me protein!

I suggest taking the scoop and marking tablespoon lines on it to use on smaller serving sizes. Just throw a tablespoon in some Soup and viola its Protein fortified.
On either powder : make sure it is not put into boiling Water as the Proteins will denature and curdle (yuck). Hot Water is the key for the broth, I put the unflavored on cold stuff and give it a stir (like pudding)

I'm living by my Isopure right now. Isopure zero carb (get the ones in the bottles, the powder is NOT the same). It comes in 8 oz and 20 oz bottles. The 20 oz bottles are 40 g of Protein. You can use it to make Jello, or freeze it into ice cubes for your sipping Water, or just drink it straight. I purchase it online, but you can get it at Super supplements, GNC ect...There are about 6 flavors. I like the apple melon and coconut, but the tea is good too. Plus its nice to have the convenience of a ready to go product cold in my fridge.
In addition, you can try the unflavored Protein Powder to add to broths for a change.

I work in an OR where food and drink are strictly verboten. Thank you for all of your suggestions and Ill let you know how it goes and what works for me.

Just an FYI to all you folks out there:
Isopure powder does not taste the same as the premade bottles. They add other Vitamins and "magic goo" and it makes it creamy and IMO nasty.
I LOVE the apple melon Isopure zero carb. I make Jello from it, freeze it for ice cubes to add to Water, drink it straight...whatever. I thought Id save some money and buy the bulk powder, but it was a bust.

I told one coworker, my boss, my family and that is it. This is all very new for me. Honestly most folks don't really care, its just fodder for gossip. If someone is truly interested Ill spread the word (because its amazing) but other than that mums the word.
Honestly, I have a hesitation to shout from the rooftops because Im afraid Ill fail and end up right back where I started from again. Ive been excited about weight loss before...

How often do all of you weigh in? I'm finding that weighing is frustrating as it can be a bit inconsistent. Overall I'm still losing, but watching the scale is an emotional roller coaster. My instinct tells me to let it go, weigh once or twice a week (at the same time of day), however with all this change and newness maybe I should be hyper focused on that particular metric. Thoughts?

Im three days out from surgery and the pain on my right side is the worst. Doc said I willl be sore at the exit site for a while. I can relate to your comments Zoeybear. Gravity, changing positions, and sitting up. I am definitely looking forward to less pain. Im not concerned, just impatient.

I liked the apple melon best. They make great Popsicles and I use them to make Protein enhanced Jello. The fruit punch in sugar free lime jello rocks!

It's been so long since your sleeve I would not necessarily think the clotting and your bariactric sleeve are related. Folks develop clot for a variety of reasons. Sometimes there is swelling in the tissues around these veins caused by some sort of disease process or sometimes a person may have a blood disorder that causes you to clot easier, making you more prone to clots. Birth control pills and estrogen can make the chance of this type of clot increase.
I guess what I am saying is, in my opinion, I would not rule out an issue with your prior sleeve, but it certainly wouldn't be the first place I'd look for causality. Did you have trouble before the clotting started? Any pain/clotting last year, or directly after your procedure?
These type of clots can be painful and I hope they resolve with medications and you are able to keep up with your little one. Don't be afraid to contact your doctor if the pain increases dramatically or you develop any other symptoms.
I am not a physician, so please speak to your doctor. If you are concerned, or worried about your diagnosis then it never hurts to get a second opinion.

Crowd-sourcing: Hey Everyone, Kay Feather aka primal and I started a WLS support group out of what we thought was a real need in the community for face-to-face support and the opportunity to put faces to names, profile pics and avatars. It has met a few times on the Northend/Bothell area. The attendance has been hit-or miss since its inception last November. I'm wanting to throw out there a couple of questions and hoping to get some responses. Do you need face-to-face support beyond what is offered at your care facility? What would increase or decrease the chance of you attending? If you like the idea of a meet-up in what forum (cafe, church, restaurant etc), location (north, south, east, central), what topics would you like to see addressed or appeals most? Would you be interested in events like hikes or races? Or are you happy with on-line support and support from your surgery facility's . Thanks everyone for your feedback in advance!
Hello! I'm scheduled for surgery next week and am beginning to look for a local support group while I'm easing into my new lifestyle changes. Your post was so fortuitous! I've responded to your questions below.
I'd like to meet up face to face. While Bothell isn't too far, it is quite the drive, and my preference would be more central. I am interested in hikes, and other group activities. I haven't gone to PSSC s group but I was looking for something with more variety/mixture of experiences so there may be new ideas/ways/recipes/etc. I would enjoy an online and in person community. Let me know if I can help in any way. I would be comfortable in any location.

As long as Im within my daily recommendations of Protein and calories, there is still room in my diet for any food on occasion.
