My first couple weeks were rough. My stubbornness and determination that I put myself through surgery to lose weight kept me going! Good luck and it does get better! Thank you! It's been a loooonnngggg road, but when I look back the year went so fast.

Do you weigh yourself everyday? Bad/good?
I weigh every single day! Keeps me accountable, at first the little fluctuations drove me crazy but I have learned to deal with it. If I didn't get on the scale for a week and then my body decided to hold a bunch of extra water I would have to wait another week to see it come off. Everyday weighing is the answer for me.....for the rest of my life. If I was not committed to weighing everyday it would be easy for me to slide back into old habits.

What a difference a year makes! One year surgiversary!
Well it's been a year and 154.9 pounds later I am a size 0 or 2, a small sometimes extra small. ME a small......unbelievable! This surgery is the best thing I ever did for myself. Not easy by any stretch of the imagination but well worth every second.

Afraid I'll gain the weight back...
I have the fear every day. I have days I feel fat. Lol. I am 5' 9 and weigh 128. I know I am not fat. But I fear it every single day. Which is why I weigh every day. I will always weigh every day. I can tell by how loose my rings are if I am retaining water. I have it down to a science. But I still have cravings. I am still hungry a good amount of the time. I think I have trained myself on how much to eat. I weigh my food out and track in my fitness pal. The fear is real. And it's scary. And I don't want to gain any weight back. I will be one year out on August 25th. I keep thinking last year at this time I was on liquids only....preparing for my surgery. Oh how time flies.

What's For Dinner?
My favorite easy dinner is ground turkey with taco seasoning. I use baked tostititos and add some lowest shredded cheese. I cook a bunch up at once and it only needs to heat about one minute in the microwave. Easy and tastes so good.

Deciding to keep my sleeve quiet....
My family and a few co workers know. His family if I told his mom I am sure one of you would have have are about it! Lol. She calls every single person she knows when she has "news" to share and then they call all of their friends who in turn call all of their friends.....you know how it goes. My husband wanted me to tell her I said absolutely NOT!

How many ounces of meat can you eat at 1 year post op?
- Lost my mind!
I am eleven months post op and it literally Pisses me off when my husband eats the healthy snacks and then chooses to go ahead and eat unhealthy ones after "mine" are all gone. Dang it! He eats the nuts and then eats Cheetos. And he doesn't just eat a handful of nuts he will eat the whole dang container. Or I measure out something and he takes something off my plate. Keep your fingers to yourself I will tell him and he says, you can't eat that much anyway. That's not the point I had it measured. Lol so as I sit and type this I realize I still have those little angry moments even after being out 11 months. Sounds ridiculous as I type it but it's true.- Will my shoe size change too?
I was a size 9 wide I am now a 7 1/2 regular- How to stop losing weight without gaining it back
I am having a hard time finding maintenance calories also. Keep dropping weight and it's time to stop without gaining I am 5'9 and weigh between 129-131 depends on digestive habits I have found.- How many ounces of meat can you eat at 1 year post op?
Ok I have heard so many different stories...... How many ounces can you eat before you feel your restriction? I can eat about 8 ounces of baked fish. I can eat 5 ounces of ground turkey and maybe 5 ounces of steak or chops. Chicken will vary if it's white meat or dark meat. I just don't know. Lol. Some days I feel I can eat more than others and SOME days I just feel like I am starving, And I get all my water in too. Just curious to see what everyone else can eat at this point. Thanks!- I feel so guilty
I think we had our surgery around the same time. It is a new learning experience. I will get it and I will quit beating myself up. I have maintained now for 2 weeks, but I am well below my goal weight. I will not be buying smaller clothes. I'm have too many cute clothes to be getting any smaller. Lol. Like I EVER thought that would be a problem. It's hard getting off my very regimented schedule of eating. But I am slowly but surely learning.- I feel so guilty
Most days I do get all my fluid in. When I am at my desk at work its easy. It's at home where I never sit still is when it's harder to get fluids in. But for the most part I do good with that. Every day since I started this journey I have stayed with the course. I weighed this morning and didn't gain or lose. So all in all I did good. It's hard for me not to see the scale drop, I am still working through all this. My NUT told me to give myself a 5 pound variance but I don't even want to gain an ounce (as my husband says) I think he is getting a little irritated with me.- I feel so guilty
Thanks. I know I need to eat a little more so I quit losing. The problem is making the right choices. I eat more fruit now and for Snacks I will eat nuts. This maintenance thing is kicking my butt. Mentally exhausting. I need to get it together so everyday doesn't seem to be such a struggle.- I feel so guilty
Let me say first that I feel that I am in between on these boards. I don't really feel like I am in post op period. I am almost 10 months post op but hit goal at 6 months. Since my goal I have been steadily losing and I am at the low end of a normal BMI. I am 5'9 and 130 pounds. Today, the first day since way before my surgery I feel like I failed. My life over the past year(since I started practicing my new behaviors way before surgery) has been steady losing and very regimented. I weigh everyday because I feel if I don't, I will find every reason in the book not to get on the scale a week from now and things will slip away from me. Today we had two cookouts for Father's Day at two different parents house. I did fairly good at the first house eating a grilled hamburger no bun, then I had a small piece of Banana cake. Not a huge one like I would have eaten before my surgery (and then took a piece home for later) I just had the small piece and left the rest there. At the second house I had ribs, three really small ones a few bites of corn on the cob and brought a piece of cheesecake home which I have promptly told my husband to eat it. Tomorrow is a new day and I promise myself to eat right. I hate this. Maintenance for me is way more stressful than losing. I also didn't get all my water in the last two days either. The last few weeks it seems like I am hungry a lot. And it's not head hunger, I don't really get that. Just had to vent. I feel so scared I am going to gain weight and then just feel like a failure.- Gained most of my weight back
I too feel like it's a struggle every day. I haven't done the regain thing. But it scares the crap out of me. This is hard!- Hold me accountable
I would love to have an apple watch. My husband just bought one, I may have to invest.- Quest potato chips
thanks for the recommendations, however I don't like either pickles or olives. Not a fan of a lot of food. I don't eat a big variety. I don't eat any foods that are mixed. Lol. I don't like the texture of many many foods. Most of my foods are very simple. - Lost my mind!
