  1. At 10 mos. I can eat about 4-5 oz. depending on density.
  2. I am so happy for your NSV! The "invisible issue" always made me so angry when I was back at my highest weights. I've been married to a great guy who luckily loves the real me and has been my biggest support, but I found that many, many people of both genders looked "through" me like I wasn't there, like I was an affront to their skinny world. And now, 94 pounds lighter, while I'm still a big woman I find all kinds of people "seeing" me again. It's a little bewildering but ultimately gratifying to feel present in the world again. I'm happy for you @@CowgirlJane and for all of us who have stepped back into the light as part of our tough journey.

    Intimacy after sleeve

This thread is cracking me up....I was so effing big I didn't want to do it.....so sad....but here I am 9 mos out and 94 lbs. down and I'm back. Believe me.... I'm 60 and it ALL is great again. no issues with any sex, oral or other. LOL
  5. My Ninja blender and my food scale.
  6. Well, this is more a "what I looked forward to that actually happened". I had looked forward to going to the beach in a non skirted swimsuit and feeling good and totally unselfconscious. That happened today! Yay me! Thanks to all of you and this forum for giving me a place to say this!

  8. I have loved reading this thread and so agree that all the criticisms you have endured are those of ignorant people. And Yes why do people feel free to comment on anyone's weight? So judgemental and rude. You'd never say "you seem so much prettier today, are you using a better facial moisturizer?" But people have no problem saying "you look great, did you lose weight? How?" And I can't help thinking "so they must have thought I was a total cow before" which totally detracts from the compliment intended. But that's just me. Yet, I must admit, I relish the moments when an acquaintance passes me, looks back and sees that it IS me, then usually reacts in a terrific way. Hi, gee you look great, what's been happening? Yet, it's a paradox. Why do some skinny/normal weight people only "see" you when you enter their acceptable "weight dimension". lol @@livvsmum You're perfect

    Stall nine weeks out

I agree with @@wascott and other who say switch up the routine. I broke my six week post op stall by adding more intense strength training and 200 calories of healthy fats (olive oil, avocado, etc). Also....in the stall I was losing inches from working out. That's a good thing! Weight loss isn't everything!

    I'm 21 and freaking out!

Here's a big news flash. Sorry if it seems harsh but I speak from experience. I'm 60. I was you at 20. The booze and overeating made me grow to 318. Now I have high blood pressure, atrial fibrillation, had fatty liver, sleep apnea, serious risk of stroke, double hip replacement, knee surgery, orthopedic ankle surgery....blah blah blah but here's the truth. No young person believes this but you'll be 60 in no time. I lost so much potential joy in my life living as an obese person for 40+ years. YOU DON'T WANT THAT. You can't drink like you want to, lose the weight you want to, and maintain a low weight. And honestly, it should be more about your health than weight loss anyway. Right now and maybe forever, you want more alcohol than your body can handle. You either won't lose or you will gain back weight lost if you don't accept this. You may need to give it up entirely. Possibly you are addicted, although I certainly can't say. What I do know is that the alcohol will kill your metabolism and detract from getting proper nutrition. Absolutely. Decide what you want most. Good luck! I hope you have success. Sorry if I'm a buzz-kill but I actually do know what you are battling.

Will we have to low carb for ever?

I think the answer to this question is simply "yes". Low carb, not no carb, and pick whole foods over processed, non-starchy veggies and fruits over grains, Pasta and bread. Bonus to the low grain/low sugar diet....less joint inflammation for me!

How accurate is your calorie counting?

For me, tracking food and using a good kitchen scale is clearly the key to losing. I'm 8 months plus post op and had continued to lose but was slowing down. I had stopped tracking and weighing and carbs were reappearing more in my meals though in small amounts. Recently I restarted drinking Protein shakes once a day for a meal, tracking in MFP, and weighing things with a great kitchen scale. I'm losing faster now. I'm not obsessive about the tracking and I'm sure I'm "off" from time to time, but I think I'm very close when I weigh things, log it all, and use the MFP barcode scanner. My advice is to read this forum, weigh food, log it, exercise and include both cardio and strength training, and treat each day as a new one that you can do better in. Don't assume you can wing it, but don't obsess. No guilt. Just a new start each day. And find a support person in your life. My hubby gets me to the gym when I don't want to go and I do the same for him. Makes a big difference! And when I cook light, he benefits. If he wants to eat "bad" he's on his own. LOL!
  13. I am 8 months post op and stalled two weeks after surgery. I didn't lose weight for 6 weeks! But I did lose inches. I was concerned and scared like many of you are. I was eating about 500 -700 calories and had just started adding regular foods back in. I called my NUT and she suggested I add 100-200 cals in healthy fats (olive oil, avocado, etc.). I started losing again and have continued. Steady but slower. Hang in there! The speedy weight loss doesn't continue forever but I figure slower and steady wins the race. I lost 30 pounds preop and 60 postop (Surg date 9/30/14) and still losing.

Weighed in at 227.8 today. I'm moving again...tracking food and added the protein shakes in again. Seems to be making a big difference! Thanks everyone for the extra motivation that your support and comments provide!
  15. I'm 8 mos post op and have already had great things happen...but what I'm looking forward to now... -Rollercoasters with my teenage daughter -not being embarrassed to walk to and along the shoreline when I'm on the beach. -reestablishing my old great sex life and feeling great about my new body -shopping in the regular clothing sizes...first time recently!
  16. I had pretty significant hair loss starting about 3 months after surgery. Lost hair starting at the front of my head and moving toward the back. Happy to say it stopped last month (8 mos after surgery). Have been taking biotin and it seems to really make my hair and nails grow faster and healthier. The hair loss can be distressing but it really does stop. I think it was well worth it now that I've lost 90 pounds!

    Yesterday's weight 228.6! Yay!
  18. Me too. People who don't get it....oh well...Walk a few yards in my old body and then tell me what you think.
  19. I totally respect everyone's choice, whether to tell or not is personal business. For me, I tell just about everyone. I'm so proud of my choice and accomplishment so far that I want to talk about it if it comes up. I also figure if someone else can benefit from knowing about my successes so far and it helps them in some way, I'll feel good about that. No one has been cruel to me or made insensitive comments (at least to my face) and I sincerely don't care if someone thinks I took "the easy way out". We all know that that is NOT true. Those people who would say that are ignorant of the facts. No more negativity for me. I'm embracing the positive!

    Realistic goal?

Was stalled for 2 mos. starting 2 mos. after my surgery. Very frustrating! It is normal though. Body getting used to all the changes. Then it started to come off. But you have to follow program for best wit loss.

    Realistic goal?

I am 8 mos post-op and have lost 87 pounds from top weight 1 year ago. I've read your post and think you need to forget about pounds to lose by a particular date. Just focus on program. Eating right. Doing what the doc says. ..rules. ...exercising. We all hit situations where we may be sidetracked but getting back to the program is always the solution.

    Hair loss

I had my surgery 8 mos ago. I lost a lot of hair too and my doc told me it would peak at about 6 to 8 months then stop. That's exactly what happened! It is scary but I never lost so much that I had baldness or bald spots. I lost my hair starting at the front and then it sort of moved towards the back of my head then stopped. Take your biotin! I don't think it stopped the hair loss but it seems to greatly improve how fast the hair grows back. And your nails grow faster and seem healthier also. I know it's distressing but it WILL grow back. Hang in there!

    Will l feel Deprived ?

Honestly, sometimes I do feel deprived but it is definitely more a "head thing". I love almost all foods including healthy veggies so I have never felt lost for what to eat for satisfaction. But I do miss being able to eat lots of certain favorites. One for me is high quality beef steak, like filet mignon. meat is harder to deal with now, even 8 mos. after surgery. So it's just I need to accept it will be less of a portion forever. Às it should be anyway! My "tool" is doing it's job. ...keeping me off too much of the bad stuff. And the rush of feeling so good about my weight loss and strength at the gym is worth the loss of a few bites of yummieness. Like
