  1. I think the recommendation is an increase of 300 kcals. But these should be healthy things, obviously. So you really don't need much extra.

Since you're already starting with some extra weight, I think they would probably only recommend a 15-20 lbs gain over the course of your pregnancy. But, just talk to your OB and visit your bariatric nutriotionist. They will probably have suggestions of what to eat for those extra calories.

  2. HI, everyone!

I was sleeved on June 9th and am wondering if we can organize a meet-up before summer slips by. I'd love to meet some others who are farther down this path than I am. I'm just south of the Twin Cities, but am willing to drive anywhere. Weddings the first two weekends in August, but that's the only thing on the calendar for summer. If you're willing to head over towards Woodbury, I'd be glad to organize it. Just let me know if anyone's interested.

Hi Engteacher, I'm also on the east side of the metro. I'm having RNY on July 15.

  3. I'm also trying to decide what would be best for me post surgery - we want to get pregnant ASAP once my year is up. I'm deciding between the Nuva Ring and the IUD.

Does your insurance cover both? Mine only covered the insertion for the IUD, not the IUD itself. It cost $900 out of pocket. I wouldn't have picked it if I planned on getting pregnant in a year because of the cost and it also took my body 6 months before it finally accepted the IUD.

I'm pretty certain it is covered by the ACA.
