    Post op discomfort

Today is day 7 for me! I am down 15 lbs! YAY!!! I am still really sore! I don't like to bend or squat it pulls and BURNS where the port is. It appears everyones port is on the left. Mine is on the right?!?!?! Does anyone have theirs on the right?? I had a half of a deviled egg today! Dear LORD that was TOO MUCH! So I will stick with the protein shake tomorrow! I am able to drink quite a bit but I am sure that will change when I get my first fill! You guys have a great HOLIDAY! And a SPEEDY recovery!!!!!

    Snowy morning!

We have been getting hit with this beautiful snow! I wished I could go out sledding in it. I don't think the Dr. would appreciate me sledding with my stitches still in! On top of that I am still having some burning where the port is. I wonder if this is normal :cursing:? I weighed myself this morning. I have lost ten lbs since being banded last Monday. :whoo:YAY! I have so much to lose. I am still having a hard time getting all my fluids in as well as eating a small pureed meal every four hours! It will get easier I have faith! :cursing:

    Hard Day

So here I sit journaling. I am pissed off at my family! My mother came to help me out with the kiddos since my husband works all the time, and also to help get things ready for the holidays. I have a bunch of family coming. My house has seem to have gotten real messy, dishes and so on and it SURELY isn't me using the dishes!!!! Hmmmm tonight they want to order pizza from Pizza Hut. Man that sure sounds good. In all reality I was banded on Monday and it hasn't been a week and yeah at this point and time that sounds really darn good! Well the way I am thinking about this is, my mother is an alcoholic who just successfully completed rehab in November. Shall I sit and drink some alcohol in front of her to see if she can hack it? GRRRRRRRR :help: I am trying real hard for no soda and no junk food and have made it thus far, I am however real tired of chicken broth and beef broth and you know... the same ol bland pureed stuff!!!!! Grrrr I don't know.... I am just real frustrated today I guess. I know I CAN do this... I wonder if it will get easier....

    Intro

Hey everyone.... I posted a thread with some pre-op questions but wanted to say hello to everyone. I am going to be banded on 12/17. I am very scared! I have two kids and I am sure I will be fine through surgery. I don't want to be a failure. I am having this surgery done, to hopefully send my disease (Psuedo tumor cerebri) into remission and to get all of this weight off. I have a ways to go I have about 180lbs that I would like to lose. I am feeling positive about it though. I have researched the gastric bypass for about 5 years and decided against it. I am partial to the band as it is not as invasive and if I get very ill it can be taken out! I see everyone talking about a pre-op diet. I am curious as to what this is. I am just supposed to be NPO after midnight but not eating a certain way. I would love to have some advice. My Dr. is well known for doing gastric bypass, but his first time doing the band on a actual human will be the morning of the 17th. I will be his third patient that day with a proctor standing by so I am confident everything will go fine. I would like any advice that I can get!:help:

You know oddly enough my Dr. does not have me on the liquid diet. He said that doing the liquid diet calls for a lazy surgeon. So... I don't have to do it, although a couple days before I go in I'm going to do liquids just so I don't feel crappy afterwards!!!!! I am currently sick though, so I am hoping they don't reschedule!!!!!

    having second thoughts

I have my surgery Dec. 17th. They actully moved it up and I have been having those thoughts. Should I do it? I know more than anything I want this. I think it's the addict in me.... im not an addict to drugs or alcohol, I am however and addict to food. I cannot live like this, I carry my weight well and people wonder why I am doing this I couldn't possibly weigh enough. But little do they know I am 320 lbs. I sit here and think hmm no more soda, no more candy which is fine, but the meat and potatoes and gravy dear lord help me! I know however this is the right thing. I think it's the anticipation that is getting to me. I have even went as far as saying... hmm do I really want to drive 4 hours just to get my band filled. When you live in Wyoming.. things are few and far between. Just another excuse. I am on the countdown now... and I need to be around for my children as they grow! I know how you are feeling though.
  11. Hey guys. So I was browing lap band results and found this website on google. I am getting pretty anxious for my surgery! I am going to be banded on 12/17/07. They moved it up from the 27th. I had a friend who had it done and she had to follow some special diet a week before she went in. My dr just told me to be NPO after midnight. Do you guys have any words of advice or and recommendations for me? I am getting real antsy, but yet so excited. I have alot to lose but I am ready for this. Brittany:scared:
