  1. I had the lap band in February 2008. I've been so off track and can't seem to get back my focus. I didn't know it would be so hard! I just spent an hour looking at before and after pictures of others and dreaming! I WANT TO BE MY OWN BEFORE AND AFTER ..I'M TIRED OF THE FANTASY..I WANT IT TO BE MY REALITY!!!!!!
  2. I know these posts are a bit old, but I'd like to say that I had my surgery with Dr. Selim and have had three fills. I have nothing bad to say about him or my experience. He's very talented and professional!
  3. Was that with pre-op weight loss too?
  4. I made it into the 2's today!!!!!!!!!
  5. I'll have to go home and check the brand, but I buy them at Walmart. They are 60 calories. I also use them to make chips. I bake them with pam and garlic seasoning! SO GOOD! I'm on the Missouri side. Who did you surgery? Are you going to support groups anywhere? I need to do that.
  6. The low carb flour shells are better for you.
  7. Hey, I'm from Missouri as well and we have a similar band date. Where are you?
  8. My vote is you are not eating enough calories. I eat anywhere from 1000-1300 calories a day and I try to vary this so my body doesn't get stuck. I had surgery 6 months ago and I've lost 60 pounds so far. I've noticed that if I eat less, then I don't lose. I also workout about an hour a day with both cardio and weights. Here's a typical day for me: BK: Protein shake(15 protein) AM snack: Greek Yogurt(13 protein) Lunch: Tuna w/ a little mayo and sweet relish(20 protein) Tomato slices or a little fruit if I have any room Snack: Fruit/or/almonds(6 protein)/or/cottage cheese(12 protein) Dinner: Chicken(2-3 oz)(18-27 protein) Veggie Snack: protein bar(20 protein) Hope this helps and good luck in your journey.
  9. My four year old got strep throat 2 weeks before my surgery..so guess what..about a week before my surgery, I got it too. I called my primary doctor and explained that the surgery was coming up so without seeing me or anything she prescribed some high powered antibiotics and I got in 3 or 4 days of them prior to the surgery. My surgeon then put me on another full dose after the surgery. All went well!
  10. Count me in! I have a countdown to my 36th birthday celebration..I have 46 days to look my best. I'm in for at least 5 days per week. Yesterday: 15 minutes elliptical 30 minutes circuit 15 minutes bike Need to up that cardio! I'm on it..thanks for the inspiration! I've never liked exercise..so keep the positive words coming!
  11. Okay, I had my third fill on July 3rd. Today is July 22nd. I've lost 10 pounds since then. It was going great..now it has slowed and I'm down about it. It also seems as though I'm really tight in the morning and I'm doing protein shakes then. As the day goes on it gets looser and by evening I can eat a lot more than I should be able to. My third fill was the only fill that caused any restriction. Do I need another? Is there a way that helps it stay tight all day? Let me know your experiences...
  12. Omg!!!!! That is wonderful! You have to be on cloud nine! Now gets those pics posted so we can all be jealous!!!!!!
  13. How many milligrams????
  14. I'm in KC but I just got my band February 2008. Let me know if I can help.
  15. Okay all..I had my third fill on Thursday. This is the first time I can actually tell a difference. Question is..how do I know if I'm right or filled too much. Before, I could eat pretty much anything. Now, I am having to drink protein shakes in the morning and I can feel them going down and bubbling as they go down. I tried to do some yogurt but it didn't want to go. As the day goes on, I am able to eat more. Meat is very tricky. Right now I'm trying some turkey for lunch and bite one is still sitting there. Let me know if I'm where I'm supposed to be.
  16. I went for my third fill today and was worried about how little i had lost since the last one. Then i decided..you know what..i need this for me..i got this band for a reason and it wasn't to please the doctor. I will have successes and i will have failures..it's up to me what i do tomorrow..the past is the past. If we were good at this stuff, we wouldn't be here..we're gonna mess up. Don't worry about what that doctor might say..who cares..do it for you and your life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. First I want to say thank you to all of you..you are all so brave for sharing those moments. I actually cried thinking about them..I've experienced so many of them myself. Thanks for the honesty! Here's mine... Broke a lot of toilet seats..one being my sisters, which was embarrassing. Couldn't fit in a booth in a crowded mexican restaurant and had to ask to be reseated. Broke my aunt's couch that had a wooden base when I was in high school. My dad having to make boards to put under my bed in the frame so it would hold up under my weight. Seat belts! Avoiding my friend's car because it's older and the belts don't have much give. Stress test at the hospital...having one nurse say to the other..why is she doing it w/ the drugs instead of the treadmill? Her whispering..she's too big for the treadmill.
  18. I remember all of the most hurtful ones like it was yesterday... I remember in high school going out w/ friends one night..I looked cute..cute clothes, worked a long time on my hair etc. Well, a guy(who is a jerk but friends w/ the guy I liked) said to me...why do you get so done up, people are just gonna wake up in the morning and realize you're fat. I remember a boy in grade school saying when you cross a bridge and it says 'load limit 2 tons' do you turn around and go back or just chance it. I remember having a health fair in the 8th grade and having to weigh in a big room w/ all my classmates. The people doing it were not careful about the numbers they wrote down so I was then called "221" for weeks afterwards.
  19. I'm obsessed with food as well...I think most of us probably are. I've had a bad week and it's nice to read posts like yours to truely know we're not alone.
  20. Four month bandiversary...I met my mini goal of 50 pounds on Saturday!!!! A couple days over four months..but that's okay with me!!!!! Congrats to all!!!!!
  21. Hey guys! I would love the support of a buddy. I feel I'm at a point where my loss should be so much greater, but I keep messing that up. I do great all day long and then sabatoge by binging at night. I am trying so hard to quit this behavior. I need someone that understands and has been there and made it to the other side. I'm a 35 year old single mother of one. I live in Missouri and was banded February 11th and to date have lost 46 pounds. Contact me please! Thanks!
  22. I will stay on plan today because I deserve it and so does my son!
  23. I cannot do anything carbonated..it just kills me. It feels like I ate 100 pound steak.
  24. Thanks..my problem is not before dinner, it's after dinner. I've already eaten and I'm clearly not hungry..I just eat. Just like before the surgery, nothing stops me from eating. As long as I can get it down, I eat it!
