Well, here I am, stalled out at a size 40. I shouldn't complain (I was at a tight 50), but I've hit my wall. Now that Spring is getting here, maybe I can get some outside time in, and drop some more.

I needed them after my surgery, and have no shame. It was a life altering event, and I tend to over think myself into panic attacks anyway. As an added bonus, I have my attacks while driving (yippee).
Anyway, take care of yourself, and do what you think is right.

Mine was blood pressure meds. I had to cut back on my dosage. Make sure you're staying hydrated, but I'd also bring this up to your Doctor.

I found a direct correlation to the amount of weight I lose to the amount of calories I consume compared to the amount of time I'm on my feet. For some reason, it doesn't have to be intense exercise - but being on my feet helps me through my stalls. On a given day, I try to be doing something where I'm standing at least 3 hours (including exercise).
Then again, what works for me, may not work for you - good luck!

I was told only to take Tylenol. Oddly enough, my Migraines have almost gone away since my surgery. Now, my body hurts from exercise. I guess I should have appreciated being 20 when I had the chance - lol.

I loved it. I was able to drop between 60 and 80 pounds (minimum) every time I used it.
The problem was, I would regain between 75 and 90. It worked wonderfully for me in the short term - and honestly, I don't know what long term damages I may have done to my body.

@@chunkycharlie You're grown, I'm not going to judge. I quit knowing I'd gain weight (and man did I gain weight). I put on 45 lbs, and quit using a combination of an e-cigarette and nicotine lozenges. The good news is, I've had my surgery, and including my preop diet, I've already lost the 45, I no longer use the e-cigarette or lozenges, and I'm losing weight. For the first time in a long time, I'm getting healthy - and so can you.
It's a hard road, but you can do it. Hey, you have to lose weight anyway, right? Think about this in terms of your life, forget about the surgery for a minute. It sure would suck to drop your weight and try to quit smoking then, right?

OMG, this is happening to me too! I'm a month out from RNY, and I'm cold all the time. I'd set our AC at 80 if my wife and kids wouldn't revolt.
Even on the treadmill, it takes a little bit to even work up a sweat. I guess this is normal?
Not sure about avocado - Sorry

My surgeon gave the go ahead on all exercise after 2.5 weeks.
I'd imagine if you can run, run Forrest.

Why are you defining your success or failure based on a cupcake? You're human.
You may have a cupcake in the future (gasp). You may, or may not dump. Regardless, you will be fighting a battle to become (or remain) healthy. Don't worry about how to mark the score card, the only way you fail is if you give up.

give it time. It's a shift, and up until now, guys have been posting in the women only threads too. It just has to do with how the threads show up on certain displays. It seems my request for some forum etiquette offended some ladies. I've been told not to get "my panties in a bunch." It seems the point was lost. Had nothing to do with 'men's secrets' but more why do men not go to support groups. I got my answer...cause the ladies seem to go out of their way to make us feel uncomfortable in group and now I discover on line as well. This will probably be my last post on this forum since, so far I haven't found information I haven't found elsewhere on line or from reading a book.
Cheers

All you 6'4" guys are going to make us 6'3" guys feel short. Jeeze!
BigDaddyJG - welcome! I had the RNY on 4/28. This site has been great. It is one heck of a journey.

My issues came more from the anesthesia, but the pain is really similar to a gallbladder removal.Man you guys are scaring me! I had my gallbladder out about a year and a half ago and I was told the pain from this surgery would be nothing like that.... He actually told me it would just feel like sore abs when I wake up and if I have to have more than Tylenol to Control my pain he won't send me home. It's supposed to be just an overnight stay.

Outstanding! Start to sipping, and the sooner you can get to walking the better! Also, my Dr didn't give a pain pump either - be vocal about your pain.

Just change her name to "Chuck" in your contacts, and give her a call later on down the road [emoji57]

I would probably shed a tear if I could fit into a pair of 34"s. Realistically, I'd be happy with anything in the 30's.

I had surgery on the same day, and struggle with some of the same issues. There's a drink sold by Walmart called New Whey Liquid Protein that you may want to look into for the short term (it really helped me meet my goal yesterday). Anyway, good luck

Surgery went well, and I can safely conclude that today ranks up there with "stressful days". My surgeon was great, as were all the staff. I'm unable to get up ad walk around due to the dehydrated state the Mag Citrate left me in as I keep passing out. Good luck out there!!!
-
I'm drinking 2 Protein Shakes a day with a small meal. Monday will be all "see through" liquids with a Mag Citrate kicker [emoji36]. Surgery is Tuesday morning at 8:30am.

I agree! Thank you @@sportsmama13 for checking in, and giving us a first hand account.
Does the pain medication help with the gas pain? When I had my gallbladder out a few years ago, I don't recall the gas pain. Then again, the are two different surgeries for different lengths of time [emoji3]
