  1. Hi I am also from Adelaide and having the MGB done on 11th March with Dr G D'onofrio at Calvary North Adelaide. I'm currently on week four (last day) of a six week pre-op diet. Allowed 3 Optifast and up to 2 cups non starchy vegetables. The diet itself isn't that hard but seems to be going forever. I have lost 17.8 kgs at this stage, 9.1 prior to the pre-op diet and the rest since.

    Hope everyone is well

    Marie

Interssting. I met with him last week and he is allowing me 2 optifasts per day, free vegies (non starch) and a Protein based meal per day when i start my diet in a few weeks. Nice to see he isnt a one size fits all approach

  2. I have only just started on this exercise thing. I got myself a treadmill and i have a rule that if i want to watch my favourite shows i have to be walking. It has got me on there almost every day since i got it. Im still pre surgery so it takes me two days to watch a 40 min show but im getting there and building my fitness. The tv shows help distract me from my sweating and my aching body

  3. If it's a liquid diet - which I did too - no chicken or salad - food of any kind! The point is to shrink your liver to make getting to your stomach & intestines easier & safer! Try Greek yogurt (look at sugar & Protein content, will need to strain!), talk to nutrition stores about high Protein low sugar liquids they have, skim milk, broths, sugar free pudding & Jello, cream Soups w/ skim milk, high protein Meal Replacement drinks. Look at the Vitamin & diabetic sections of your grocery store & read those nutrition labels for protein & sugar numbers! it's vital it be liquid only to shrink your liver!

Its not the liquid bit that shrinks your liver. Its the high protein and low calories. Thats why you will see some surgeons allow free vegies and others a high protein lean carb meal etc

  4. Hello everyone, I am new here, Im Suzie, 36, single parent, from Adelaide Australia. I will be having my Single anastomosis bypass (MGB) done on the 30th of March 2016, I am currently going through the pre op Optifast stage to ready myself for the operation.

My surgeon is the wonderful and most knowledgeable Doctor Michael France who operates out of the Ashford Private Hospital here in Adelaide, South Australia.

    My stats are:

    SW 185.4kg May 2015

    CW 163.5kg Feb 2016

    Total loss to date 21.9kg.....

Will try to update again in 4 weeks time before i head in for the big day. :)

Im am also from adelaide. I am inthe process of deciding between the mgb and the sleeve.

I am struggling to decide which is right for me, though my surgeon is suggesting the sleeve as the first step with a revision if weight loss is not sufficent, but he believes it will be
