  1. I am having the surgery in New Zealand (where I am from) and travelling to Russia (where I Live) 3.5 weeks later. My surgeon has no qualms about this and said as long as I can be in touch with how I'm going. She said any problems would be resolved in the first week or two. The clothing issue is impossible to solve. Just take a belt! Your clothing size may not change too drastically in that time and if anything your current wardrobe will just fit you better. Try not to stress :))

  2. It is SUCH a relief to read some refreshing honesty. I am not having my surgery until August and the food funerals for me have already began! Some of the opinions and advice of the people in these forums suggest that if I'm not already eating as though I have the sleeve, then I am probably not ready to under go the surgery! I am finally feeling a little more "normal" about my eating habits / desperate eating.

I am preparing myself in setting up a good exercise routine by adopting that already... One less thing to think about post op I guess.

  3. I travelled from New Zealand to Mexico (Tijuana) in May this year. Had a great experience. If you have any questions I'm more than happy to try and answer them ????

Hey I would love to talk to you about your experience. I am also from New Zealand and considering Mexico as an option. It would save me about 10,000 i think?!

Did you fly home long after the surgery? What is the process if there are complications etc?

  4. This is so exciting reading the updates of the surgery you ladies have just had. Nothing but good vibes!

I'm going to be paying for surgery in New Zealand around August but am suddenly considering having it done in Mexico to save myself 10 grand! Especially reading about the lack of complications etc.

While it's an investment I don't want to feel ripped off!

I live and work in Russia at the moment. There's definitely no english support groups here so I am thrilled to have found this forum.

  5. This is certainly a predicament to be in.

I am in my very early stages of research and appointments and hope to have the surgery in August 2015.

I too was very concerned about the opinions of my loved ones who are my support network. Before I informed them of my decision, I ensured I could give them all of the answers to the questions they were bound to have. Including the emotional ones.

At the end of the day I figured that my closing argument would be that I am going to go thru with the Surgery with or without their support, however if i had their support I would have far less stress which would make everything much smoother in terms of recovery and looking forward.

As it turned out when i did approach them, they were thrilled for me and happy for the decision I have made to change my future for the better.

Feel confident and trust your own instincts. Your partner will get over it and at the end of the day should be happy for you when you find your happiness with the results you are bound to achieve.
