  1. Did you try lactose free milk?

I was having the same problem with milk. Today, I switched to lactaid and it is much better on my tummy. As far as the taste issues, I can taste ok, I just seem to have this coating of "yuck" on my tongue, teeth and gums. Does anyone else have this?

  2. Hi there,

I started this journey in July of 2014 with my first visit to the Bariatric surgeon. Having gained and lost weight most of my life, I still wasn't convinced during that visit that I was going to go through with it. While I am now only 9 days post op, here are a couple of things I have held onto throughout the journey so far.

    1. Write a letter to food., Tell it how you feel and what you need to change.

    2. Listen to your dietician and nutritional classes if you need to take them.

    3. Adopt healthier habits pre surgery so it is easier to adjust post surgery.

    4. When surgery day arrives, be prepared for some physical and emotional pain. But realize that each day gets better.

    5. After surgery, follow the diet you are given and LISTEN to what they tell you.

I hope this helps and good luck to you

  3. Just got home from my first post op check up with the Doc. He says I am doing very well and to continue to listen to him and follow the plan. They took my stitches out and want to see me in 3 weeks. I started the full liquids phase today and so far doing well with that. I have had 2 ounces of baby oatmeal and 2 ounces of ff cream of chicken Soup today. I also had 3 ounces of Atkins Advantage shake today. No where near the 60 grams of Protein the plan calls for, but the doc didn't seem real concerned about the protein yet. Water is good, and my body looks forward to it. I sip all day, aside from before and after meals. I was down to my pre op weight today, after my hospital Fluid gain, so the weight lost from today on will be true post surgery weight loss. Thinking positive and looking forward to the future.

    All take care,

  4. Day three post op as well. The gas is still giving discomfort. However, I can feel it moving around in there now., so I am hoping it will start to exit. I had a little poop accident earlier today when I though I needed to fart, so I know things are working. Each day gets a bit better. Just have this gas ball in the middle of my back that needs to be relieved. liquids going well, so far no nausea. I am walking a lot and that helps too.

  5. Tomorrow is surgery day for me and I am all over the place with emotions today. Mostly excitement about the future me, but some fear of the unknown and the pain. Each step along the way has been a significant milestone for me in this journey towards a healthy lifestyle. The hospital should be calling me any time now to give me my time to arrive tomorrow and I am all packed, except my CPAP mask and toiletries.

Today has been the cleanse day with the mag citrate and surprisingly, it has not been as bad as I anticipated. I suspect that is because of the pre-op diet and no solids in my system. It has been 4 hours since I tool the mag citrate and so far, only two trips to the bathroom. :)

My next check in will be post op, whenever I am well enough to post.

  6. Hi everyone,

I am pre-op day 3 and so far so good. Surgery is scheduled for March 24. I am both excited and nervous. I started my process in July 2014 and completed the 6 months of nutrition courses and all the pre-operative testing. Things went slow in the beginning, but since I got my approval, time is flying by! I am so glad that I found this forum and the resources all of you provide.

  7. Hi everyone,

My first post here. Looks like I may have found a home. I just finished day 3 pre-op and feeling pretty good. I am using Bariatric Advantage Protein powder for my shakes, sf Jello, crystal light to flavor my Water, and chicken and beef broth. Today, I got tired of my chocolate shake mix,so I added a bit of sf raspberry Jello powder to the powder in the blender and it was much easier to get down. I am supposed to have 3 shakes per day, but it has been tough to get three in. I'll keep trying,
