  1. You don't need Protein powders, just make some chicken or fish congee and lentil Soups post op.... Your hunger will be for thirst and not food..... DO NOT OVERTHINK POST OP... Apple juice is your favorite buddy for like 3 weeks.... You will feel no hunger, so do not buy stuff you will not need. I am 3.5 months post op, so trust me! @@laceygorrell

I would disagree. Even if you aren't hungry it is critical to get enough Protein for healing and weight loss. It is almost impossible to get enough protein when you are on Clear liquids without supplements. Especially when you are healing and swollen. You just don't have the space initially to just drink broths in sufficient quantity to get enough protein.

Its alright to disagree, everyone follow their doctors advice. Any protein liquids made me hurl. If Incontinued, I could have developed complications. I had to improvise to survive!

And I lost 28 kilo since March 11, so I must be doing something right....

  2. @@Kindle

    I improvise

Meal 1 Protein cereal/almond milk or low fat milk (10g protein)

Meal 2 congee probably more than 15g Protein

Meal 3 Atkins bar or designer whey (tastes like a Cereal bar) - 10-12 grams each. I can fit in 2 (20g+)

Meal 4 Soup Beans with some ground or shredded protein.

Snacks mixed nuts (mostly almonds, cashews, pecans, walnuts)

Just mix it up, sometime u eat more sometime less. Just live ur life, stop drinking those powders YUCK!

The other day I made some barbacoa beef, and will probably eat it for a week, lol

  3. Just be careful what you eat.... Stay away from greasy food and slider foods. You will be fine as long as you eat healthy and exercise a little. Also, i use a timer on my phone which beeps or vibrates every 7 minutes to remind me to drink Water, try this if you are not able to keep up the Water intake which helps with weight loss (and the easy passage of your stool ;)). You don't want your pipe clogged, do you?

Oh, and you need a minimum of 2 litres of water a day, so get started

  4. I can have two scoops of rich creamy ice cream, but have half as much beef and rice.... Like they said, eat the good healthy food first in main meals.... You will fill up faster and feel the restriction.

Drink plenty of Water between meals.

Have a very small portion of sweets once a day ONLY if you are DYING to have some. Otherwise, skip it and have some nuts or fruits

  5. Hi guys,

I am bored of the food, dunno what to eat anymore.... All fish taste like rotten liquid egg yolk to me now... chicken taste like chalk, and beef is still my favorite (thank God that did not change, lol)

I wanna start adding flavors to my dishes... Food has been very bland the past 3-4 months.... Can I have lemon/lime on my food... Spices, apple cider vinegar or white vinegar. Spices like paprika, garlic powder, chilli powder, etc.....

I can fit in 5 ounce of soft food, 3-4 ounce of hard food like meat and rice... I weigh my food always to control my intake....

Greasy food makes me feel so bad for a couple of hours... Pretty much anything fried does that too me...

Please help me make this situation bearable cause it becoming frustrating and depressing :(

    HELP!

  6. Hi guys,

For some reason all fresh fish except shellfish tastes like soft egg yolk, its kind of disgusting.... I never had this problem before. I pan fry them using pam oil... Any one facing this?

Any ideas on cooking methods that can help mitigate the unpleasant taste?

I am 4 days short of of being 2 month post op.

Waiting to hear your ideas.. :)

  7. I m schedule for the same on 12th March so yayyy

You should have started with your pre-op diet your diet will be less than a week and yes Isopure ready to drink flavors are quite nice and chocolate and coffee and banana flavors are good when it comes to the Protein shakes.

    H. Pylori is bad enough considering you are already on medication and antibiotics, and your surgeon is ok with it... I personally think you should stress yourself on it. And just go with what your doctor says.

I m sure you will do well... Goodluck!

    Thank you dear,

But I will not proceed with the surgery unless this matter is rectified before I get rectified, lol

  8. Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all having a wonderful day and in very good health.

    About me:

    Sex: Male

    Height: 5'5"

    Weight: 121 kg

Medical History: Type 2 Diabetic (controlled), high cholesterol, high uric Acid, high blood pressure, and common obesity symptoms.

My Surgery is scheduled on March 11 and I cannot help but obsessing over my recently discovered H. Pylori in my gut which caused minor erosion as per the Gastroscopy Doctor. I have been treated since last Saturday with the Nexium and two antibiotics (triple treatment) twice daily... For 6 days. My Gastric Sleeve sergeant does not seem worried about this infection and scheduled surgery on that date anyway... He even told me 10 days treatment on Antibiotics and Nexium is a bit too much and I should reduce it to 7... (I lost a couple of pills.... So I ended up taking them for 6 days)

I still having doubts regarding recovery, what should I do... Ask for another gastroscopy and biopsy? My concern is after the surgery if the H. Pylori might return during my recovery to wreck havoc to impede recovery and ulcerations start to manifest....

Also, at this stage (3 days left) what do you recommend regarding questions and clarifications I should be asking my doctor? Anything regarding Pre Op or Post Op?

I am planning to buy Isopure ready-to- drink Protein Drinks tomorrow for my liquid diet and maybe the chocolate shake as well... Other than that I am still clueless at this point...

Looking forward to you support my Veteran friends :)
