  1. The hash is a great, but there's potato in it. Do they make it without the potato?

And the egg is basically gonna be like deviled egg filling for me ???? with some pickle juice for tartness. Yummyness. I'm salivating as I type lol

I don't know if it comes without potato, but it's super high in Protein, so I'll deal with a little potato for right now if the trade off is Protein. I imagine I'll only be able to heat a few spoonfuls anyway. In the past I'd eat a 1/2 can, with eggs and a bagel!

My NUT is not totally against carbs but I do know I need to be sensible about them too.

  2. How strictly do you guys plan on following this?

I'm going to loosely follow, I need to follow the truths I know about me first... I have always been able to tolerate spices well, but understand the new pouch may handle it differently. I will try without first... Then slowly increase. I'm more worried about seeds from peppers than the peppers them self.

  3. I'm two weeks post op RNY. So today I need to trade out my winter clothes for summer clothes. It dawned on me that I won't need the winter wardrobe I currently have again. I can't wrap my mind around that. I have a smidgen of 'will it work that well' doubt, making me contemplate holding on to everything, just in case. I held on to some of my smaller sizes and I'm thanking my stars I did, it'll save money as I move down in sizes.

And another part of me knows I need to let go of my 'fat security blanket'. But there is a familiarity with the wardrobe I have now. I made a point to buy clothes I loved that made me feel good in them, classy etc.

Of course I'll love shopping and creating the same with smaller sizes... But letting go ... It's not hard... Just weird.

  4. I start puree's on Wednesday. Something's I plan on trying include:

Turkey meatballs, with Pasta sauce and ricotta cheese. (The meatballs I love are pre made, so I can grab one or two and leave the rest frozen)

tuna fish (this one seems weird to try without bread or crackers!)

    chicken salad

    Corned beef hash

eggs (oh how I miss eggs!)

chicken breast (maybe ground chicken?), with salsa, sour cream and cheese

And I'm making pulled pork sandwiches tonight for the family, it's a crock pot recipe. I'm gonna see if I can puree some of the meat with broth

  5. Technically, it's scale related, but it's huge for me. I'm no longer over the weight limit for the scale we've had in our house for years!! I had to buy a scale with a larger weight capacity a few years ago, I feel like tossing that one out of the window today!!! (But can't, my hubby still needs it!!!)

  6. @@dhrguru

It's been a few days now, just wondering how you're doing now...

Thanks for checking on me. I'm doing well, I drove for the first time today. (Ugh... Potholes!) and went to the market too. I even did the dishes.

The only pain I have comes and goes depending on movement/positioning. I advanced to full liquids today. I've never been so happy to have dairy! It also gives me more options to get my Protein.

I'm drinking fine, still no nausea or vomiting. I do my last lovenox injection today (yes)!! Life is heading towards normal!

    I hope you're well!

  7. Dhrguru, glad to hear your recovering well, I'm still struggling with sleeping on my back(I'm a side sleeper) whenever I try to turn to my side a feel like my intestines are being pulled out. I'm also struggling with the 80 grams of Protein. Currently only having 40-50 grams. But I take my multivatimin and Calcium religiously every day. How are you doing with these things?

My Protein goal is 60 grams, but I'm not getting anywhere near that yet. I HATE my Protein powders with Water, and until today I couldn't have milk. So now that milk is back in my diet I will work at getting more Protein in. I haven't started my calcium yet, my doc doesn't start them till after the first post op visit. I'm getting my Vitamins, tums and others meds in fine. I'm propped up on a lot of pillows to sleep semi upright. Im a little more comfortable sleeping on my side now but use a small pillow under my stomach area to avoid that feeling of my intestines pulling. My bed looks like the queen of sheeba's with all the pillows LOL.

This morning I had cream of wheat, it was like heaven! What's weird is I made one serving (about 1.5 cups) per the instructions (made thinner per my NUT's orders), and ate just about 2oz. I used to make 2 servings and eat it all!

  8. I told my kids I was having surgery to reduce how much I can eat so I could lose weight. I described what my expected capacity for eating would be, long term, using measuring cups to give them an idea. Also got them prepared early for me being out of the house for the hospital stay ( I've got momma's boys) as well as what help I'd need from them in recovery. Then I highlighted all the fun things we could do together going forward.

They've been super supportive! Mine are 10 and 12.

  9. It was hard. I cheated once, eating a 1/2 of a quesadilla. And I made a conscious decision to eat the night we celebrated my husband's 40th birthday. Did perfectly fine otherwise, and lost 14#'s and the doc said all was perfect for the surgery.

I'm 6 days post op and not wanting to jeopardize the procedure (and lack of desire) keeps me focused. I long for something when I see it (like yesterday when my hubby grilled) but am fine doing without it. I know eventually I should be able to have somethings, just not everything.

  10. I had bypass 4/28. I'm bewildered by those able to go back in a week. Initially I was gonna take two, but quickly decided for 3, which is what my doctor recommends. I work in an office, pretty sedentary.

I have six incisions, but 90% of the pain is coming from one of them. But my back and shoulders are incredibly achy too, mainly because I'm tense from the discomfort.

  11. Hello, first time poster, long time reader. I am getting sleeved on 5/5/15. My wife insists on staying with me, which is cool. Any tips for the hospital? I've never stayed overnight in a hospital. Personal pillow, iPhone, charger, CPAP….any other suggestions, especially for my bride, she's bringing a book

A lot of people said chapstick is a must. I brought my favorite lip balm, but never ever took it out of my bag. Didn't need it. Only things i used were my cellphone and charger and my own pillow.

  12. Yes! The night I was discharged from the hospital when I got home my hubby was cooking ribs. The aroma was overwhelming, I told him I couldn't hang with them downstairs or I would've been sick. I went to our room closed the door and opened the window. Then yesterday, someone's cologne or perfume had the same effect, I had to wait in the hallway of the hospital. These are the only times I've ever felt nausea. It's not every smell, cause they've bought pizza and chicken home and neither of those bothered me... Just some smells.
