  1. Torso, from shoulders to my waist. My band size for my bras dropped fast!

if you don't mind me asking what size did your bra size drop from, I'm hoping to be a 34/36 C lol Im currently a 42DD

I started in a 46DD. I'm now wearing a 40 D or DD depending on brand. I'm wearing my bras on the 3rd hook, so I'm think I should be able to try a 38 D /DD soon, even if I need to use a bra extender for a little while.

I'm about half way to my goal, so I'm hoping for a 34/36 D when all is said and done

  2. Hi Dawn!

Welcome and congrats on your decision! My only guess...age. I did weight watchers after the birth of my youngest son... Seemed almost effortless. In 4 months I'd lost nearly 60#s. No matter what I did after the that I couldn't lose again.

You'll lose this time, for sure. Now you just need to find that motivation to get that active once again.

Not to jack the thread, but your new profile pic is amazing! Your face looks so slim!!!

Thanks!! I actually couldn't believe that was me after taking the pic. I still want to lose 80ish pounds... I worry what my face will looks like then.

  3. "Was everyone else able to eat meat, rice, pizza, Pasta, etc etc this early in their recovery?" Yes I can eat meat: chicken, fish, steak pork. But I limit what I eat-- obviously eating the same amount of any of those that I ate before surgery is counter intuitive. Can I eat pizza/pasta- I don't know. I've eaten those things for 38ish years of my life and they are not going anywhere. They can wait till I reach my goal...and maybe by then i won't want it. This method is so much a bout self-discipline!!

" I'm fairly certain I'll be the 20% of people who just gain all the weight back and don't lose much to start with." This is a self-defeating thought. If you come out of the gate not believing you can, then that's what you will do.

  4. Omg I went today to have Mirena put in. Couldn't do it. It hurt so bad. I was in tears. I almost passed out. He couldn't see anything even with the HUMONGOUS speculum.

He barely got the clamp on my cervix and I jumped. He measured my uterus and I almost died. Then he tied to put it in and couldn't see. He said he go it almost in but I jerked and said there was no way he could get it in and open without me screaming in pain. He said some people he has to put to sleep.

I said "not thank you." I'm going back on Seasonale. Lol.

My sister had to be put to sleep.< /p>

The only pain I recall was when she measured my uterus...omg... reminded me of contractions!

  5. I found out about this app on another forum, it's called sworkit. I use the free version.

You can do a custom workout of yoga, stretching, cardio or strength training. It requires no equipment, and you can set your time.

Tried it today for the first time, cardio kicked my butt, but the beginner workout wasn't bad,but was hard!! I'm aiming for 10 minutes twice a day to start.

Tried it with my 11 year old, he loved it!

  7. I met with the surgeon this morning. There was infection under that incision. Let's just say it was not a fun process but he removed the stitches and drained a LOT of Fluid packed the wound and I return each day this week to be re-packed. He also prescribed some augmentin twice a day.

The surgeon was so sorry it happen. He said I was only his 3rd patient with infection in 15 years... Go figure.

After discussing it with my family to make sure my memory was correct I never reviewed an IV antibiotic prior to surgery. Live and learn. I'm not upset. Just happy to be on the road to recovery.

Glad you were seen and its being treated. I got a small infection in one incision too, but it didn't need packing. Thank goodness, saw my husband go thru that... Ouch!

  8. What stage are you in?

When I hear people day I'm sick of X, that usually means head hunger to some degree. You want variety, not necessarily to satiate a genuine hunger. Just my two cents...

Jello pudding maybe? In my early stages I ate corn beef hash, mushy, but still has Protein. I also liked turkey meatballs with sauce and ricotta / mozzarella. I also ate cream of wheat and added Protein powder. I was less concerned about carbs very early out, and still am not militant about them.

  9. I'm 11 days out and on puréed foods . I'm not sure what I experienced but it was horrible! At the night I had refried Beans with cheese and felt it had to much cheese so stopped eating them. In the Morning I had 1/4th of light Greek yogurt (strawberry) and only Water after. Around 1:30 I had horrible cramps had to go #2 it wasn't diarrhea at first but I got the shakes started sweating and breathing hard. Then finally came the diarrhea (tmi sorry) the other things lasted another 3 mns or do then I was fine . Anyone know what could of caused it? I'm thinking the yogurt although I've ate it before with no prob .

How many grams of sugar/carbs was in the yogurt?

  10. I am very close to you. I'm in Germantown. I'm also vegetarian. Send me a PM if you have questions.

I didn't realize you were in Philly too. We should start a little circle of support.

I'm still waiting in my approval and surgery date but I know I would benefit from the experience of someone who has already regained their footing after surgery. I despise the therapist that runs the monthly support group at my local hospital, so I'm looking for someone who might be willing to support me through the transitional period just before and a couple months after surgery. I'm sure lots of questions will arise, and my hospital is inhospitable, slow to make appointments and generally unpleasant, so I know that I won't be leaning on them very much after my wounds have healed. Chestnut Hill/Mt Airy area.[bquote]

Oops, just noticed you said sleeve, I'm RNY

I live in Mt Airy, would be happy to support you! PM if interested.

  12. I agree with @Babbs. Though it took me a minute to be ok with getting rid of clothes (out of fear of this not working) I'm glad I did. Alcoholics don't hold on to a bottle of liquor just in case they fall off the wagon... I see this no different.

Bras are my pet peeve. I get they can be pricey, But they do so much for how your clothes fit. I don't mind buying bras at each Stage as I lose, I can get by with just 2. I've had every size from a 46 band, now slowly moving to a 38 band.

Just like the op, I got rid of all my summer clothes, they'll be useless next year. My yoga pants were my frumpy clothes, I only keep the pair I wore on surgery day, so I can do my monthly comparison pics.

  13. Tomorrow I'll be four months out from surgery, going from 326 sw to 278 cw (my hw was 340). I was squeezing/just fitting into size 28 pants then and now my size 26s and 28s are definitely too big. I can make them work with pulling them up really high and using belts. My new yoga pants are the only ones that fit me right and my size 26 Torrid skinny jeans still fit okay (loose in thighs and butt and waist, but they stay up mostly); however, they're starting to get worn in the inner thigh area so I'm afraid they'll rip soon if I wear them too much....

So basically, my question is -- should I buy some new pants now? I've already bought some new tops (sizes 18/20 and 22/24 ish), because I picked ones out that would last me a long time even when they get looser. BUT pants are harder because once they don't fit, they just don't fit. Debating on buying some Old Navy skinny pants on sale now, but I have NO idea what size I am and their plus size section is online only....HELP! I'm also thinking I should find a used clothing/Goodwill type store, but their plus size clothing sections are usually lackluster, at best. I'm only 23 and everybody dresses fairly nicely at my work, so I really needs pants/jeans that are nice looking/skinny jeans. Worried I won't be able to find them there. Any advice would be appreciated!

I think you need to take an afternoon and try on some stuff. Do you have a Burlington coat factory near you? Or Marshall's or TJ Maxx? I won't pay more than $20 for any item, since i know we transition out of sizes quickly; those stores have decent prices. Right now I've been moving down a size after a month and a half. I feel like I'm getting a good number of wears out of things before I need a new size, and I'm buying only essentials.

I started in a 26 and had clothes on hand down to size 20. I'm now in an 18 pants and 16 tops. Old navy is good for me now since I can shop in the store. I've tried good will and thrift stores, was lucky to score a winter coat for $7, but other wise nothing. Plus sizes there are hard to find something decent without 20 hours of searching. And, oddly, I'm an 18 in Old navy jeans today, but the same 18's from old navy in a thrift store wouldn't fit. BTW, I hate their skinny fit!

  14. Hi there,

I'm pretty new here, posted a few time but lurk a lot. Thank you all for your questions and stories, it helps a ton.

So I went to my primary to get her opinion on WLS. She was all for it until I told her I wanted to go to Mexico. My insurance won't cover it so I'm self pay and it's SO much cheaper. She suggested I not go there and when I was home I noticed that she stated that in my paperwork.

So needless to say, my surgery is Oct. 22. Ha ha. My question is should I find another doctor? I only see her once a year for my annual. If am sick or need to be seen right away I always see the nurse practitioner. So I won't miss her. I was a little bummed she wasn't more supportive. I'm not even sure if I would find a Dr. That would support going to Mexico. What do you think would happen if I had issues after and needed to be seen here locally?

Any input or experiences you've had would be appreciated.

I would get a new PCP. Post op you'll need a physician to monitor your blood work. I'd have no confidence in someone who didn't agree with my decision to steer me on the right course of post op health.

I never discussed having WLS with my pcp, only sent an electronic referral request to see the surgeon, which she sent through.

  15. Okay I'm 14 weeks post op I'm 80 pounds down and I have finally plateaued a little bit I have lost or gained any weight for the last two weeks and I just want to find out what people grab to go when they're out and about on a busy schedule instead of eating a normal meal just would like some suggestions on things to look for I've been really good about watching everything I eat am I still focus primarily on Protein just wanted some suggestions of things I can pick up at a convenience store that don't have a lot of carbs that have Protein in it

cheese stick and cashews are one of my favorite Snacks, cost maybe $2.50 and I can go into any cvs or Walgreens and get this.

Wendy's grilled chicken sandwich, minus 1/2 the bun.

We have lots of food trucks where I work, so any meat based entree thats not fried, and I ditch the carby sides or ask for veggies.

Wawa is a local convenience store chain that has decent eats. Salads, protein Snacks, etc.
