    ????Purée's????

I'm going to loosely follow, I need to follow the truths I know about me first... I have always been able to tolerate spices well, but understand the new pouch may handle it differently. I will try without first... Then slowly increase. I'm more worried about seeds from peppers than the peppers them self.

    ????Purée's????

I plan on making fresh salsa... Which is little more than, tomato, lime juice, onion, cilantro.. I think that's it. I can forgo the spicy seasonings for now.

    ????Purée's????

I start puree's on Wednesday. Something's I plan on trying include: Turkey meatballs, with Pasta sauce and ricotta cheese. (The meatballs I love are pre made, so I can grab one or two and leave the rest frozen) Tuna fish (this one seems weird to try without bread or crackers!) chicken salad Corned beef hash eggs (oh how I miss eggs!) Chicken breast (maybe ground chicken?), with salsa, sour cream and cheese And I'm making pulled pork sandwiches tonight for the family, it's a crock pot recipe. I'm gonna see if I can puree some of the meat with broth
  4. My doc explained that anesthesia tends to hide in fatty tissue, so as we lose weight, we can get waves of exhaustion and the anesthesia releases when we lose the fatty tissue.

    Had my surgery on 4/27/15

Thanks for checking on me. I'm doing well, I drove for the first time today. (Ugh... Potholes!) and went to the market too. I even did the dishes. The only pain I have comes and goes depending on movement/positioning. I advanced to full liquids today. I've never been so happy to have dairy! It also gives me more options to get my Protein. I'm drinking fine, still no nausea or vomiting. I do my last lovenox injection today (yes)!! Life is heading towards normal! I hope you're well!
  9. My protein goal is 60 grams, but I'm not getting anywhere near that yet. I HATE my Protein powders with Water, and until today I couldn't have milk. So now that milk is back in my diet I will work at getting more Protein in. I haven't started my calcium yet, my doc doesn't start them till after the first post op visit. I'm getting my Vitamins, tums and others meds in fine. I'm propped up on a lot of pillows to sleep semi upright. Im a little more comfortable sleeping on my side now but use a small pillow under my stomach area to avoid that feeling of my intestines pulling. My bed looks like the queen of sheeba's with all the pillows LOL. This morning I had cream of wheat, it was like heaven! What's weird is I made one serving (about 1.5 cups) per the instructions (made thinner per my NUT's orders), and ate just about 2oz. I used to make 2 servings and eat it all!
  10. Man that must have worried your family half to death!!. I'm glad it's getting better and you are home! I had surgery the same day and am doing well.

    May 5th Surgery time

So glad you came through ok, pain is manageable, focus on healing.
  12. I told my kids I was having surgery to reduce how much I can eat so I could lose weight. I described what my expected capacity for eating would be, long term, using measuring cups to give them an idea. Also got them prepared early for me being out of the house for the hospital stay ( I've got momma's boys) as well as what help I'd need from them in recovery. Then I highlighted all the fun things we could do together going forward. They've been super supportive! Mine are 10 and 12.

    Pre-op diet is a b***h

It was hard. I cheated once, eating a 1/2 of a quesadilla. And I made a conscious decision to eat the night we celebrated my husband's 40th birthday. Did perfectly fine otherwise, and lost 14#'s and the doc said all was perfect for the surgery. I'm 6 days post op and not wanting to jeopardize the procedure (and lack of desire) keeps me focused. I long for something when I see it (like yesterday when my hubby grilled) but am fine doing without it. I know eventually I should be able to have somethings, just not everything.

    Time off work for recovery

I had bypass 4/28. I'm bewildered by those able to go back in a week. Initially I was gonna take two, but quickly decided for 3, which is what my doctor recommends. I work in an office, pretty sedentary. I have six incisions, but 90% of the pain is coming from one of them. But my back and shoulders are incredibly achy too, mainly because I'm tense from the discomfort.
  15. A lot of people said chapstick is a must. I brought my favorite lip balm, but never ever took it out of my bag. Didn't need it. Only things i used were my cellphone and charger and my own pillow.

    Oh, the smells!

Yes! The night I was discharged from the hospital when I got home my hubby was cooking ribs. The aroma was overwhelming, I told him I couldn't hang with them downstairs or I would've been sick. I went to our room closed the door and opened the window. Then yesterday, someone's cologne or perfume had the same effect, I had to wait in the hallway of the hospital. These are the only times I've ever felt nausea. It's not every smell, cause they've bought pizza and chicken home and neither of those bothered me... Just some smells.

    surgery date

I'd suggest to get used to some type of shake with Water too . I only made my shakes with milk pre op, but can't have milk until my 2nd or 3rd week post op. I'm struggling to get my Protein in now because of the water. I tried mixing with diluted crystal light, yuck! It's foams horribly. So I think having a favorite shake with and without water is useful.
  18. Getting some left calf pain checked out. Hoping it's nothing, need the peace of mind before going into the weekend when no one is (as) accessible. (I'm 3 days post op, bypass).

    Headed back to hospital

All is well, tests were negative. Better safe than sorry!
  20. This is almost exactly how I feel! Surgery was 4/28 and when I stood the first time, my stomach felt like a led weight was in it and ready to hit the ground. That sensation made it feel like my incisions were being pulled. It's bad but I'm still making myself walk. My arm is numb from the elbow to shoulder, they must have hit a nerve with the IV. We'll get through this though!
  21. My doctor wanted me to pick a goal weight. Being obese all my life, anything that started with a 1 seemed foreign to me. I picked 175. My stretch weight would be whatever the bmi charts say for the high end of normal (160) I think. I'm not that interested in my stretch weight. My reason for losing was to get me active in my life, (Though I think I did pretty well even at my weight, I definitely wasn't a 'shut-in') and ward off health complications. And I want to shop anywhere. And l never, ever, EVER wanted to become known as 'Big Momma' or any similar term of endearment.

I know what your talking about. The gas gives the feeling that it's pulling at the incisions for me. I didn't stay longer in the hospital, but am taking pain meds Tylenol 3 around the clock. I'm managing on my own, but it does hurt.
