    grieving food

This is only a moment in time-- you will be back to eating.I'm glad you recognize that you're not actually hungry though! This would be a great time to develop new associations-- maybe visiting friends can be associated with fitness in some way. Take a walk with them-- they can sip coffee- you can sip Water?? How long is the no swimming in effect for? I swam at just over 1 month out...

    Husband rant!

So against my better judgement, I asked him, how could he acknowledge our son but not me or my progress/efforts etc. Just when I thought he took the cake for asinine statements, he comes up with another.... He says the our son's efforts to get abs is over the top, he goes out of his way to get his results. But *I* haven't done anything over the top, out of my way. If I could count all the ways he's a Jackass, I'd be a millionaire.

    Leg problems

Those sound like serious issues, they do sound Vitamin deficiency related. I have had a constant charlie horse feeling in my calf. I'm drinking Gatorade and eating a banana to try and counter it and today it doesn't feel as tight as it has been feeling. Maybe getting some electrolyes/potassium could help you as well? I hope it gets better

    Vacation rant

So I'm on vacation with the family. Overall I've been doing really good, still aiming for for Protein first, and with all the walking I'm getting well over 10k steps a day. The problem? Drinking!! (not alcohol..) So every meal we eat out, but of course I can't drink at the meal. I do ask for Water to go where I can, but it's also 100+ degrees here daily, so I drink it fairly fast before it gets warm. (I was dumb and left my hyroflask home, never again!) So I'm well below what I need in water, and buying a bottle each time is too costly $3 for 16oz adds up fast! Never mind my hubby is always walking 10 steps ahead of me and never hears me when I say I need to stop to get a drink. And not having a drink available has me way off for Vitamin consumption this week. I really tried to cope on my own, it's not his fault I can't drink when they do at meals and this was my choice to do surgery, but I so wish he'd be a slight bit more conscious of how it's different for me. I tried talking to him, and of course he was like how is this his fault. Bring hot and thirsty doesn't make for level headed discussions. So a valuable lesson learned for me this trip, eating wasn't nearly the issue I thought it would be... Drinking is!! I will forever bring my hydroflask and some crystal light packets to make sure I have some portable hydration options.
  5. The vitamin scheduling/spacing had been the most mind boggling part of this journey. My schedule is 5:30am synthriod 7:00am multi 930am calcium 130 pm calcium 530 pm calcium 730 pm multi 3 times a week I fit in B12 and once a week Vitamin D. I use different times on the weekends since I don't wake as early. I'm amongst always shifting my times because I started later than scheduled. I try not to take anything around my meals, but don't stress about it if I do.

    Calf cramp

I had a total thyroidectomy so yes, I'm hypothyroid. And I do need to see my endocrinologist. My thyroid panel was fine in June, but I know how quickly that can change.

    Calf cramp

Thanks all, I'll try some Gatorade. I wasn't a fan of bananas before surgery, and pickle juice... Blah. Gatorade will have to be my healing poison!!

    New clothes

Like many, I had a few sizes in my closet. I'm just now at a point where I'm down to the lowest size in my closet. I've bought a few things but not much. I've not bought a goal outfit yet, but I do buy one size smaller. I store it in my closet with the date it was bought and weight I was when I bought it and compare to when I can fit it.

    Husband rant!

You know what will happen if I gently tell him I need his verbal support, he'll ask me why. I know this from other experiences of verbalizing a need from him. Then I'll be lectured in how I shouldn't have gone into surgery relying on support from others. On the rare occurrence that I won't get this lecture, he'll compliment right then and there, and never again. That's fake. I may as well send myself flowers. So I chose to rant. I've been married more than 10 years, I completely know the level of asinine thinking I'm connected to.

LOL, I try not to let the crazy show too much. But you have a point, he may be shy due to my past crazy tendencies.

    Night time eating?

I assume you're pre op? When I was pre op to wean off of carbs I allowed only 1 carb per meal. So if it were Peanut Butter and jelly, I only had it in 1 slice of bread. If it were spaghetti for dinner, I had Pasta or garlic bread, not both. For Breakfast, I often world eat Cereal with a waffle, I cut out one of them. Cold Turkey off of carbs is hard this worked for me.

    Boobs Shrinking?

My cup size hasn't changed, still a DD, but part of me wonders if I didn't have all the 'side fat' if that would still be the case...
  14. Off to a great start! Your smile shows how happy you are!

    Reality Check?

A chronic low grade gi condition could be aggravated by surgery to something like what you are experiencing now post op. But, I think that would be extreme and (hopefully) short lived. I think it's hard for people to see past the first 4 weeks post op... Those are your 'wildcard' weeks, anything can happen. I recall being antsy to take my first sip of Water post op, I imagined dry heaving and nausea. It never came. So even if you experience that initially, it shouldn't be like that long term. I've thrown up once since surgery due to curry that didn't agree with me. No diarrhea, constipation, etc. No stuck issues beyond the 6th week and can tolerate foods well, and no dumping. I Hope your recovery is uneventful too!

    Husband rant!

Sounds like you two could use some work with the book "the five love languages". Seems like your love language is "words of affirmation" and he isn't speaking it. I've read it... We started a couples devotion using that book... I dropped it once I saw he wasn't taking it seriously. For him the only book worth giving any credence to is the bible.

    Husband rant!

Thanks dancingqueen. I'd sooner guess there's a slight bit of jealousy, since he is obese too, I used to weigh more than him, but now the tables are turned. I'd be shocked if he were fearful, he has a huge ego... But I guess that could be a cover. I don't think our marriage is threatened to any degree, just would like a kudos every now and again. But that's been a long going battle in my marriage, I've long complained he never acknowledges me personally (ie-nice dress) or for my contributions to the family (great dinner, house looks clean etc)
  18. Like you I only told my boss. I ended up changing positions on my return to work post op, so my new colleagues have no point of reference. When I visit old colleagues they notice, but I'm never around long enough for them to harp on it and question me
  19. I used sick time and comp time. I did tell my boss what specifically I was having done-- but I trusted her explicitly. Can you get a letter from your doctor stating that you are under his/her care from X-date to Y date and can't work? Seems silly that you can't 'plan' a sick day. I think they'd be more appreciative of some advance notice so they can plan accordingly. Also, depending on the size of your employer, they probably should be getting FMLA papers from you.

    My fitness pal

Little rant... Why did mfp change the order of the nutritional content? Protein used to be near the top, now it's so low you have to scroll down to see it. I know.. 1st world problems!

    Surgery was moved

My surgeon only operated on Tues/Thursday's. I wanted Tuesday-- I felt like he'd be worn out at the end of the week...so think of it as you getting a well rested surgeon :-)

    First dumping

I'm not sure how you prepare your tuna but Mayo didn't agree with me initially.
  23. dhrguru

    Plateau?!

So you lost 70# in one month? Or was most of that pre op?
  24. 'See' you on the other side tomorrow!!! Best of luck--
  25. It generally takes about 6 hours or so for food in your stomach to move through the digestive system. I doubt it will be in there by tomorrow at 2pm, but I would make my surgeon aware so he knows what complications could arise; or if he opts to reschedule.
