Smell and Taste? Did yours change?

Yeah what I want changes. Also what I crave switched from breads to veggies, chicken, fruit. Love it

this might be a bit awkward but....

Pain in large incision area worsening

Just be careful to not push it. About a week post surgery I flipped over in the middle of the night and popped an internal stitch. Thought I was going to die. So be careful and take it slow. It gets better every day.

VSG With Simultaneous Hiatal Hernia Repair

Thanks cause didn't know what to expect. How long was your recovery? like before you could return to work? I also had both of mine done at the same time. Same recovery. And my hernia is how my insurance paid for my surgery. They coded it as a hernia repair and charged me $900 for the sleeve. Best part is no more of the terrible acid reflux I had been getting every night prior to the surgery. I love my sleeve and repair.

    Slim fast

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. I feel very full after a shake. It often takes me several hours to get a whole one down. I do agree that drs say not to get dependent on them, but I personally don't know any post surgery people that stop them completely. They help me control calories and keep my protein intake up. I love love love mixing a great tasting chocolate protein with powdered high protein peanut butter and blending. Omg. So good. And I still crave sweets, particularly at night so I drink 1/2 a serving and it keeps me from snacking. Goodness I think I want one now!

    New Clothes?

I'm two months out and have gone from a 32 pant to a 26; luckily I have clothes all the way down to 22s so I'm ok for a bit. New undies and bras at 6 weeks. I'll be hunting the sale racks!

Would you have WLS again? What kind?

I'm 33, had the sleeve two months ago... I would do it again, maybe even do the bypass. Wish I had done it at 18 instead of waiting

    Insurance denied me :/

My surgery was paid for by my insurance because of a hernia that needed to be fixed. I only had to pay my deductible +900 for the stomach removal. You may want to see if you have a hernia. No insurance problems and the surgery center financed everything for 0% interest.

Does this ever happen to you ?

I Dont keep things I shouldn't eat here. I still keep sugar free Popsicles or pudding. Carrots. Strawberries. Make myself drink something first.

    Let's talk Fruits!

I eat strawberries like there is no tomorrow. I keep sliced fruit around me in the afternoons while at my desk to keep me from reaching for chocolate or other high carb foods. I'm of the camp that yes eat protein as much s you can but balance it. A typical lunch for me is 2-3 oz grilled chicken, a very small salad and a strawberry or bit of pineapple. I am avoiding complex carbs but not nature's little gifts. And I'm losing about 20 lbs a month.
  20. 5 days post op when in clears I had a protein shake. Then two weeks post op I had egg salad.

The Worst Foods to Eat Post Op. . . . .

Milk doesn't make me sick, per se, but its not comfortable. Mixing crackers with soft cheese is a no for me, and musli cereal immediately came back up. Other than that I can tolerate everything with no dumping

    Rewards

If I could like this x1000 I would. I'm still 150 away from goal but the 60 I've lost has given me so much more confidence... And I agree we are all worth it.
