Talk Clothes and Style to Me!

I am super lucky in that my best friend had her sleeve done a few months ahead of me.. so i am wearing her old clothes. We have different styles, so mostly i wear her jeans and dress pants, pjs. I buy most of my own tops. Since i work in insurance, i buy 4 or 5 nice tops or mix and match pieces to get me thru a size. I also occasionally take pants to a tailor to get them downsized. $10 for a fix is cheaper than new pants at $40! And sales racks. If its not clearance i dont buy!

    Twohundredtown!

Congrats! I'm right there with you. I'm fluctuating between 302 and 305... my scale can't decide. Gives me a different weight every time i jump on, even if they are back to back. I'm hoping to be there in a few days! Thanks for the update...gives me a little hopeful boost to want to hit it soon!!

How do you relieve the too-full feeling?

My stop signal is the burp. The moment I feel i could start burping, i stop. Also, I'm 12 weeks out and I've noticed my stricture is getting tighter. Or maybe the nerves are working better. All i know is two weeks ago, 1200 cals was fairly easy for me to eat. Now? This week I've barely hit 600 a day. Any one else notice this?

I'm eating like a normal person

I know my view of portion size has changed! I cook dinner and I think its a ton of food and my husband finishes his portion and he is always like "that's it? No more?" Maybe that's why he's lost 40 lbs!

    Sad about missing food

Guys and gals. It totally gets better. I'm three months post op and eat pretty much anything I want. I will tell you that occasionally I get aggravated because I can't eat as much as I want. But right now most of you are in the post op liquids and mush stage. Get past that, and know you are only giving up food for a short time. Then you can eat again. It's totally worth it. Like I said I'm three months post op, and today I hit 70 lbs lost!

    daily carbs limit

My doc said at least 60 grams of protein a day (which is really easy, I'm typically on the 80-100 gram range and 1200 calories. If you go the math, 100 grams of protein is only 400 calories so 800 calories is fat and carbs. I Dont watch my fat or carbs. I do try and eat as natural as possible but Dont deny myself anything except carbonation and white bread. Well and processed sugars. But fruit, avocados, nuts, and stuff I eat

    Things I look forward to..

I have two lists. 1) things I have gained already: -way more confidence -shopping in "normal" plus size departments instead of only Catherine's or online -my feet have already shrunk -I Dont get as winded -I fit in booths at restaurants and seats at ballgames Things I look forward to: - being an "athlete"; I will start training for an ironman once I have about another 60 lbs gone -look like I belong with my personal trainer husband -scuba diving and other "skinny person " activities on vacation -shopping in a regular size store for the first time in my life -sexy lingerie -and to be really honest, crazy good sex! (Its getting better and better every day!)
  10. wow you work out... a lot. do you think you are putting your body through too much? Also, I just looked at your stats. way to go. you have lost a lot of weight. but I think you may be doing too much. two hours a day is a lot. and here is my advice (and I am going to get so much flack for this, I can already feel it): trust your body. try eating more for a couple of days, and see what happens. But look at what you are eating. is it 1800 of empty calories or is it full of health and life? if it doesn;t work, then lay off the calories and the exercise. I know for me that when ive been eating really good, and watching calories, and I have a day I don't watch what I eat and eat way too many calories, I often lose weight in the next few days. its like my body goes "oh she gave me enough - I can let go of some weight". then I strict my calories back down. find what works for you. I know that sometimes calorie restriction works for about a week, then stops. so then I up the exercise, or stop exercising, or eat too many calories then exercise. keep the body guessing. and give yourself a break!!! Prior to surgery I had a doctor and my Personal trainer telling me to eat 1200 calories and work out like mad; it worked for a few weeks, then stopped. I upped my calories to 1600 and boom, I started losing again. I kept my calories at 1600 for a long time. it was my sweet spot. I lost 75 lbs doing that. find what works for your body. not everyone is built the same!

To be or not to be

I'm three months post op and still have the facial hair. When does this go away?

    Haven't told anyone...

Its crazy to me that so many people feel they can comment on other people's decisions. Maybe its just the people I know or because the area I live in, but no one has said anything but positives to me. Even strangers.
  13. No comment.AussieSam what is your workout regimen? If its not body building and lots of cardio, you're eating too much. Now, if you are burning 800 calories a day I get it or unless that's what your nutritionist told you. I average about 800-1000 cals a day, net. On days I Dont work out, I only eat that many. On days I do work out, depending on how long or how hard, i eat part of them back. But my net only hits 1200 once or twice a week. I agree you have to fuel your body but Dont use it as an excuse. Good luck finding out your way and the answers you need! I train about two hours a day and burn about 1100 calaries so I don't see the point like a lot of people that starve themselves on ridiculous low calarie amount and lose muscle. Your calarie in take seems good keep up the good work. So my hubby is a personal trainer. He was wondering a few things. ow old are you? What do you do during your workouts? What are you eating? Are you training for something specific?

I was going to suggest turkey as well! I made turkey tacos last week and didn't notice a flavor change. They were delicious

Honestly I think you will be fine. But I would call the nurse and ask. Just to be safe!

Grilled chicken. I cook 5 lbs on the weekends for mg hubby and I to eat on all week. Turkey sausage. Ground. Its soft and oh so good. Scrambled eggs. I also did a lot of tuna packets. String cheese. Protein shakes and bars. But be careful of the bars. They can have a lot of carbs. If you are far enough out and can have salad, I recommend the Walden's No Calorie dressings. Huge fan of these. Allows me to have my salads without the guilt of the dressings!

First rejection at a restaurant. So annoyed :[

Red Robin has grilled chicken sticks on their kids menu and you can get fruit, veggies or a salad with it. I've never been refused there. Also Texas Roadhouse has kid steak bites. I always check the kids menus and sr menus. IHOP let me order kids eggs and bacon. I can't believe anyone would refuse to let you. Call the store owner or if its a chain, the headquarters. I'd check to see if there are any laws protecting wls patient.

    Haven't told anyone...

I made a Facebook post about it. Everyone knows and i have gotten nothing but love and support. I had over 200 lbs to lose and I knew that people would figure it out. But you don't owe anyone. Do what's comfortable for you. The only person that bugs me about anything is my dad. Not because I had the surgery, but when we go out and I have 1 bite of bread to finish my meal or something like that, he's on my @$$ saying " can you have that? Are you cheating?" Finally I just told him that I can have whatever I want since I'm only eating 800 calories a day!

How soon can I move around?

I was up walking within an hour of surgery, and walking around the house in laps the first week. It took me about a week and a half to very back to cardio and I went to work after 10 days.

    Regrets

Hang in there. It totally gets better. My pain meds didn't work post surgery so I feel ya. It took me two and a half weeks to feel better. My only regret is I didn't do this 10 years ago. You'll come to love your surgery!

    NSV shout outs

I think the nsv are more important than the weigh ins. I was in Dillard's the other day and I found I fit in their plus sizes. I was too big for that before. I started crying with armfuls of clothes to try on. Its these things that make the journey worth it. Not the number on the scale.

    How is the attention?

At 440 she felt secure because in her mind there wasn't any competition. As you lose weight, I bet your confidence is returning and that can make a man attractive as well. She may think you will leave her for a younger, hotter woman. Weight loss just doesn't affect you, it affects everyone around you because you change, not just your weight. ☺
