    FEEL HORRIBLE EVERY MORNING

For the first four weeks after surgery I felt sick every morning. I can only describe it as "morning sickness." That's what I called it. Now that I am eating more Protein instead of drinking it, I am feeling much better. Like BLERDgirl said, "no reason to feel bad every day." Call your weight loss clinic and explain what is going on.

  3. I'm sorry you are going through this with your weight loss clinic. I understand your anxiety. You had a good team before your surgery so why would you expect anything less after your surgery. I hope that you get a better understanding with them about what procedure is for patients with concerns about their health after surgery. My weight loss clinic has an extension for the nurse if we have questions/concerns. There is also an after hours number for emergencies. Perhaps your clinic can give you the proper chain of command with phone numbers and also let you know protocol for diarrhea and constipation.

    Enough calories?

On MFP, if you are under 1000 calories it will not post anything on your home page. I "share" this every day, for example: March 30, 2015. Calories: 780 - Protein: 72 hit "share" and it's right there!

    Tomorrow is my big day!

Don't imagine the worst and stay positive! Best Wishes!
  6. Thanks @Band07. I had never heard of that procedure. I wish you better luck with your new procedure.

Congratulations on getting your husband on board! Good luck with getting approved!

    What protein shakes are preferred?

I found that I couldn't stick with one. I've tried quite a few. I liked J-Robb vanilla and chocolate Muscle Milk before surgery and for the first week after surgery. Since then I have developed an intolerance to artificial sweeteners. Can't stand any pre-made drinks or powdered Protein. Someone suggested GENEPRO. I just got it today. It is supposed to be tasteless, ordorless and free of any artificial or real sweeteners. I am looking forward to trying that tomorrow. One tablespoon nets 30 grams protein. Fortunately, I am now able to get at least 60 grams of protein through food at 4 1/2 weeks out. Good luck and best wishes!
  9. @@Pac-woman Maybe your monthly support group meeting has a clothing exchange? Ours does. You just bring in your clothes and more or less donate them to someone who needs that size. You may find some things in your new size that you like. If not that, find out if there is a women's job training center that might take donated office clothes.

    Confused by this feeling!

@@Hertsukfem31 Sometimes a "reset" is necessary. Perhaps your stomach isn't ready to move along. Call your doctor if it gets too concerning. Take it slow...

    Enough calories?

BLERDgirl said: As for MFP's alert, I just ignore it because I know it's not set up for my special circumstances. When I get the alert from MFP I ignore it also. On my home page, I just log in the date, my calorie count and my Protein intake. So I have a list right on the front with my numbers. I'm no expert, but I'm not going to force calories. If I get in my Water and protein, I'm good with that.
  13. @@vida81 1. What was it like waking up? Did you feel pain or nausea right away, or feel confused? I felt good waking up. I woke up! No pain, no nausea, just HAPPY. 2. Did you go right to your room or were you in a post operative room at first? I don't remember being in recovery room, but I do remember when I got to my room and my family was there. HAPPY. 3. How long did you wait before you walked? I was up walking an hour after I got to my room. Still HAPPY. 4. Did you have a pain pump or how did you take pain medication or anti-nausea meds? I had a pain pump. I used it the first day and a couple of times through the night. They gave me anti-nausea meds regularly. The pain was not from my incisions. I never did have pain there. Just the spasms in my stomach. I had a hernia repair. The pain was not unbearable. It was tolerable pain. Nothing to panic about. 5.How long until you took your home meds? Did you crush them or take them whole? Took home meds right after release. Anti-nausea was an under the tongue, chewable multi-Vitamin, under the tongue B-12, chewable Calcium citrate, my regular daily meds are all swallowed. No problems there. And, I had to give myself a shot in the stomach every day for 2 weeks. That was a blood thinner. No big deal. Still HAPPY!!! You will do fine! Don't worry! Best of luck to you!

    So disappointed

Girlfriend, you are doing great! You are losing weight!!! And, they probably put more weight on you in the hospital! They did me! A whopping 17 pounds! So you had to lose the hospital fluids too! Did you consider that? I, too, am on soft foods now. It is really hard to just eat protein at every meal. I usually take a couple of bites of veggies with lunch and supper and fruit with breakfast. I snack twice a day on babybel or cottage cheese. I drink all of my water and I have 2 protein drinks a day. Bake your meat (fish or chicken only), or saute it in coconut oil or olive oil. Now you put your chin up and hold your head high!!!

  16. Since surgery and even before, while on the 1200 calorie and 2-day liquid pre-op diet, I have had extremely thick and frothy saliva and a sickly sweet taste in my mouth. I had surgery on February 25, 2015. No complications. Was on full liquids for two weeks and just moved on to pureed foods as of March 11. For Protein I use Muscle Milk chocolate, J-Robb vanilla, and Isopure clear Grape. Other protein comes from yogurt and cottage cheese. Has anyone else experienced this? And if so, has a doctor told you what it might be?
  17. TammyDTM

    Increased heart rate?

My husband drank an Isopure Grape the other day for the first time and told me his heart rate went up. He has not had surgery, nor does he have any weight issues. He just wanted to try one since he bought them for me and I am not drinking them anymore. What kind of Protein Drink did you drink? I have not noticed this phenomenon.

    Confused by this feeling!

@@Hertsukfem31 You said: "I'm 2 weeks post op now and still feel unwell, extreme exhaustion, feel sick, trying new things like Weetabix and I am gonna try scrambled egg soon but it's just a case of too exhausted to try" I am 4 weeks post-op and I am still extremely exhausted. Call your nurse for suggestions. I called yesterday and was told to drink G2 Gatorade and to eat fruit. I did that and am feeling just a bit better. She told me that the exhaustion can last six to eight weeks. HANG IN THERE! I hear it gets better!

    Confused by this feeling!

@@bubbles2015 Hi there Bubbles! I am 4 weeks out also. I noticed that you said that it takes you 40 minutes to finish your egg. I can't eat a whole scrambled egg (w/cheese) yet. I can feel full after just over half. My nutritionist told me to stop eating after 20 minutes. I eat about 1/4 cup of food each meal. I can eat a little more yogurt. Anyway, eating over a period of 40 minutes cuts down on your Fluid intake time. Maybe ask your Nut about the 40 minute meals?

    Carbs

@ Sometimes it's not a fear of failure, it is the fear of success. You are so close to your goal. Keep away from your "trigger" foods. Eat more Protein and drink more Water so you won't have time or space for the carbs! Don't look back. Move ahead!

  24. @@nycchef76 Wow, you can eat 1/2 to 1 cup of food? I am 4 weeks post-op and I still cannot finish a whole scrambled egg! I started pureed on March 11 and soft foods yesterday.
