Trying to Learn When I'm full

Well, just eat slow, really slow, and chew until the food has no more flavor (I know ) and then swallow. I was told to only eat for 20 minutes. Whatever isn't eaten in 20 minutes, you don't eat. That way you aren't grazing and you have time to get in your Water. Also, my water regime is 10 minutes before a meal and 40 minutes after a meal.

Trying to Learn When I'm full

Maybe you should get a recommendation from your nutritionist of the amount of food and textures you should be eating at this point. I know that I can eat 4 ounces of baked tilapia, but only 3 ounces of baked chicken breast. I can eat 2 fried eggs over easy, but only one scrambled egg. It all depends on texture. You can learn by being consistent with a few meals and proportions. I don't eat until I feel full. I eat what I know I can hold comfortably. It will get easier and soon you won't even have to think about it.

@@Charity P When did you have your surgery? What stage of eating are you on?

    It's surgery day!

God bless you. Hoping to hear good things when you communicate with us again!
  5. @@bringingsexyback1 Believe it or not, that is GAS. Your surgeon will tell you that. If you read more of these boards you will find that most here will tell you the same. If you are not on Prilosec or some other PPI you may want to consult with your doctor.

    Anyone from Iowa?

I started the process with the surgeons office in June of 2014 and had my surgery in February 2015. I did have to do the 6 month doctor supervised diet, which my family doctor go me started on in April 2014. After the psych appointments and stress test, my packet was submitted to insurance and I was approved in less than 2 weeks. That was all right before Christmas. I had to wait to have my surgery due to sinus infection and upper respiratory ailment. I am very pleased with how Dr. Lamaster's office handles everything. They are very on point and very professional. You are in good hands!
  7. No, I don't think so. It was happening here and at the hospital too. Yeah, but she did get better at the hospital... and then it flared up again after you got back home.
  8. Could it possibly be something environmental?

    Opinion needed

I'm glad that you feel better, but I guess I was just cheering you on to wait. Most of us gained our weight because we gave ourselves too many "passes." With me it's a mind thing. I need to know that I have enough self control to do what is needed for me to be successful. I will use this tool to my utmost advantage. I have learned new strategies and continue to learn as I go along. I wish the very best for you and for all of us. Truly.

Jumping the gun? Breaking the rules? That's not a good start in my opinion...

    Can someone tell meeh

You spoke about "spitting." Are you talking about that foamy stuff? I had that for a while until I cut out fake sugar and liquid Protein drinks with fake sugar. Some on here call it "the foamies." Very unpleasant.

    Dumb question

Breads with leavening agents (yeast, baking powder, baking soda) re-rise in your warm stomach filling it up.
  16. I have had lupus for over 30 years. I am over 50 years old and I am considered high risk. My surgery went well and I am losing weight rapidly. I was wondering if anyone here has lupus or any other autoimmune disease to deal with while going through this sleeve process. How are you doing with taking your medications and dealing with the fatigue. I have never had trouble with my meds until after the surgery (Feb 25, 2015). I always took my bedtime meds on an empty stomach, but find that now, I must have a few bites of food or some thick Protein drink on my stomach before I take them or my stomach hurts and spasms all night. I am wondering how someone who is maybe a year or so out from surgery is feeling now and have your lupus symptoms lessened.

Stalled...trying to get out of it.

@@kyrickchick64 I feel your pain! I had my surgery 2/25/15. I lost a lot of weight in March and then in April the scale did not move. I went up and down 1-2 lbs all month. Then, in the last week going into May I lost 5 lbs! During my "stall" however, I did lose a total of 5 inches and my clothes continued to get too large for me. So hang in there! You will continue to lose weight. Your body is just taking a short break. I would consult with the doctor about the feet swelling and retention of Water...
  19. I was given Protein day 2 at the hospital and have always been encouraged to get in as much as possible. I don't think you can drink too much. As far as I know, fluids pass right through your sleeve. I think you are doing well...
  20. Your bariatric team/NUT should give you that information when you have your follow-up visits.

    I no longer like chocolate

My taste buds have changed quite a bit also. As of now, I don't like overly sweet foods. BTW - it's probably a good thing that you couldn't eat that ice cream bar, huh?
