  1. Nobody can answer these questions perfectly for you. Everyone's body reacts differently to surgery. All I can tell you is that I have not had any complications and do not regret my sleeve at all. It was by far the best thing I have ever done for myself and I wouldn't change a thing.

    Red light tanning bed

I'm wondering if either of the above posters actually bothered to click on her link. She's not talking about regular UV tanning. I don't know anything about red light therapy but it doesn't seem like either of you answered her question.
  3. I personally wouldn't ask my employer to pay for my surgery but perhaps your circumstances are different. I work for a great company with great people but I still wouldn't have expected or asked the company to contribute at all monetarily. I'm not sure how they would even do that without running into potential discrimination issues. If they contribute to your surgery then that obligates them to pay for anyone else's surgery should they be asked to.

    Birth control pills

I was told I could continue taking any pills that were smaller than a pencil eraser. My birth control is smaller than that so I never had to stop taking them.
  5. It's really different for everyone and there's no exact science to tell how much weight any given individual will lose. My nutritionist told me to aim for 1-2 pounds lost per week but she said it would be much quicker in the beginning. I had 77 pounds to lose total and I've lost 54 so far (I'm 6 months post op). I lost about 25 lbs the first 6 weeks and it's slowed down from there. I now lose on average 1-1.5 lbs per week.
  6. I've had no issue eating noodles since I got to the solid food stage, which was two months post op for me. I know other programs progress quicker but mine was slow. I just wouldn't recommend making noodles part of your regular diet because they are high in simple carbs.
  7. I was sleeved on 9/30/15 at my highest weight of 205. As of yesterday I've lost 50 lbs and am down to 153.8. I still have 27 pounds to go to reach my goal and I'm hoping I get there by my one year surgiversary. Even as a kid I remember being too self conscious to wear shorts. I ventured into the juniors department at Belk today and tried on these pink scallop shorts. I'm still not 100 % comfortable in them but I'm hoping I will be by summertime Sometimes the number on the scale doesn't move and sometimes it's so easy to get discouraged. Celebrating non-scale victories helps me keep everything in perspective. What are YOUR favorite NSVs?

    NSV - shorts!

I think I lost 30 lbs before I dropped a pants size. So frustrating!

    Buying Bras Post Surgery

I got measured at Soma and bought some when they had a sale (and I had a coupon). I think I ended up paying $22 each. If you're sure of your measurements then maybe just go to Target or Walmart and try some one? Although i was wearing the wrong size for years, Target bras were always comfortable to me.

    NSV - shorts!

    Haha there's always that

    NSV - shorts!

I've noticed my skin getting kind of loose on my legs and arms. I think I'm just not far enough along yet for it to be as bad as it could be. I try not to worry about it too much even though it does get to me sometimes. Your NSV is a great one! Congrats on 90 lbs gone

    Stalls

Same thing happened to me! Weight practically flew off the first few months then it slowed to a crawl. Stalls are a normal and healthy part of weight loss. Just hang in there, make sure you're sticking to your plan, and it will eventually kick back up!

    Hair Loss

I'm almost 6 months post op and my hair has been falling out like crazy but thankfully I had a lot to begin with. My surgeon and nutritionist both told me that hair loss post op has nothing to do with low levels or Vitamins or Protein or whatever. The anesthesia causes hair to go from the growing phase to the resting phase, which then eventually falls out around the three month park. This can happen with any type of surgery where anesthesia is used or any other stress to the body (such as pregnancy). The hair will eventually return to the growing phase. Some people don't lose any hair and others do. If you're going to then you're going to. Excess protein or vitamins won't help, as those aren't absorbed by the body anyway. Try not to worry too much because it will eventually grow back. Turkey Bacon...

I tried it once I was cleared for solid foods. I found I could only eat one piece as long as it was very crispy. If it wasn't crispy, it didn't sit well at all in my stomach. I eat it fairly often now and have no issues. I get the jenni-o low sodium brand.
  17. I totally agree with AvaFern's answer above.

TMI potty talk coming your way

I have been putting a benefiber packet in my Water every day and it has helped tremendously. I'm 5 months post op. I think around 3-4 weeks post op I was so constipated that I seriously considered going to the emergency room. Drinking lots of water and taking miralax worked for me but it was still most unpleasant experience. The daily benefiber has been a lifesaver.

    2 month mark & down 50 lbs!

Congratulations!! Do you mind if I ask what your starting weight was? I'm only down 48 lbs and I'm 5 months post op!

    How Is This Possible?

I always weigh 2-4 pounds more at the doctor's office than at home. I attribute this to the fact that I weigh at home first thing in the morning with only underwear on. When I weigh at the doctor's office, it's always fully clothed and after I've been eating and drinking (a lot of water) during the day. There also might be a fluctuation between the two scales. I bought a fancy scale a few weeks ago and it was 2 pounds off from my regular scale. I even had my fiance weight himself on both scales and there was still a 2 lb difference. Needless to say, the fancy scale was returned. I earned those 2 lbs gosh darnit! haha

    Preop weight loss concern!

Just curious but what was your starting weight? 14 is 10% of 140, which seems way too low to even consider weight loss surgery. PS: Not trying to be rude or anything. I'm genuinely curious
  22. I've never heard of constipation causing back pain. Maybe call your doctor to get a professional opinion.

    Concerned

I had no energy for a whole week and still felt blown away in week two. Take it easy!

    Medicine for colds

I had a cold a few weeks ago and took Tylenol cold and sinus. It really did nothing for me so I had to just let the cold run its course and wear off.

    Constipation

Miralax worked for me but it does take a day. I've been adding a packet of benefiber to a bottle of water everyday and it has helped too. The benefiber is completely clear and tasteless.
