    Starting over, Day #5

Down 6 pounds as of today. Haven't been very hungry today. In fact, I have had to force myself to eat to get the cals/protein in. At 11:30 tonight, I had to go down to the fridge and figure what would be the best choice to get in 300 more cals and 10 more gms of protein. I think I'm officially detoxed from regular Coke as of today...that was probably one of my main vices to gaining so much weight back. So YAY for that! Here's the calorie log for the day: B: South Beach Protein Bar (140 cals / 10 protein) L: 1 cup taco meat (200 cal / 20 protein), lettuce, salsa, 2 tbsp low fat sour cream (40 cal / 2 protein) D: 1 cup taco meat (200 cal / 20 protein), lettuce, salsa, 2 tbsp low fat sour cream (40 cal / 2 protein) Yes..it was a leftover day! S: 1 cup ricotta cheese mixed with sugar free lemon flavor jello pudding mix (320 cal / 24 protein) Total calories for today is 940 calories and 68 grams of protein. Surgery Date: 8/5/05 Starting Weight: 384 pounds Lowest Weight 1/2/07: 226 pounds Starting over Date: 1/4/09 at 320 pounds Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

I'm BACK!! Been away for nearly 2 years I think...wow has this thread grown! Congrats to everyone. I'm trying to get back on the wagon as I have gained a great deal of weight back...maybe I should start a second time 100 pound club :tt1:
  5. I was self pay 4 years ago. I didn't ask back then as the thought really didn't cross my mind that I might have complications. Luckily I had a very kind doctor, because my port got infected and had to be removed (surgery #1), replacement of port (surgery #2), herniated tubing-where the tubing popped through a weakened area in my abdominal wall (surgery #3), needed gallbladder surgery as a result of rapid weightloss (surgery #4), herniated tubing a second time requiring mesh (surgery #5). My doc felt bad for the port infection and because I was self pay, he covered it. As for the hernia repair and gall bladder, he somehow coded them and got them covered by insurance. I'm a little frustrated now that the fills were only covered for one year, as the cost often keeps me from going in for a fill or unfill when I probably need it. Just all questions to ask and get in writing from your surgeon. All in all, I'm still glad I had the surgery and would do it again in a heartbeat! Good luck.

    Day #2

Today's intake: B: 3 mini crustless quiche (270 Cals/ 24 Protein) S: 1 cup cottage cheese (80 Cals/ 8 Protein) L: side salad with 2 tbsp ranch (148 Cals/ 0 Protein), 1/4 c asparagus (10 Cal / 1 Protein), 4 sea scallops (100 cals / 20 Protein) S: String Cheese (80 Cal /8 Protein) D:Turkey Meatloaf (270 Cals/ 30 Protein) So that's a grand total for today of 958 Calories and 91 gms protein! Felt like all I have been doing is eating all day...thought I had more calories than that. Felt kind of nauseated with dinner. I still consider myself loose compared to what I was before, but every now and then I still get the uncomfortable stuck feeling. It takes all I have to not go make the pain go away and resist the urge to purge. My husband and I went to a movie today, and I consider it a small victory that we just simply watched the movie and didn't get popcorn (which was all you could eat for free today) or a soda pop. I can't say I wasn't craving it the entire time...but I made it through. One day down, many more to go. You can do this Robyn!

    Starting over (again)

So I have gained almost 100 pounds back over the past 2.5 years. Had my band loosened after losing almost 170 pounds, as I began to get tired of vomiting all the time. Originally planned on just giving things a "rest", but then quickly enjoyed feeling normal being able to eat again. So here we are over 2 years later, miserable..kicking myself..ready to go at it again. Gonna try this blog thing to keep sort of an on-line diary for myself. Committing to keep a daily diary of food intake as well as other things. Also committing to get back to basics and do the things I did when I was successful before, which included lapband talk. You can do this again Robyn!

WOW it's been a long time since I have been on this site. Surprised I haven't been deactivated. Yes it's me.... Hi Angela and Diane! Miss you guys. Diane I can't believe you had the guts to have PS...you look amazing by the way! Okay...where I have I been I know you are all asking:lol: Wallowing in self pitty and gaining weight like mad. I just this week had to ask myself...why am I gaining weight. I have used all the excuses I can come up with but it comes down to the fact that I am doing NONE of the things I am supposed to be doing. I followed the rules to a T at the beginning and lost almost 150 pounds in a year. But then life hit...I discovered ice cream and cheetos (no thanks to a support group meeting) and now I'm here. I have gained back 50 pounds from my all time low. So I had to ask myself why and now I'm back to recommit. These are the things I need to start doing to get back on track: 1) 60 gms of protein each day. 2) Stop eating bread (I had an unfill before I went to Hawaii and am now able to eat it again...BIG MISTAKE). But I was literally bullemic (knowingly) prior to having the unfill. If you ask me..binging knowing that I will puke afterwards is a definition of bullemia. 3) Become active on LBT again 4) Go back to Dr Sabopathy to help him "explore my demons that have resurrected". 5) Go back to support groups. 6) Exercise...even if it is only 30 minutes 3 times per week. 7) Quit trying to self-destruct. This truly is a mind thing for me more than physical. I'm NEVER hungry, but I eat to try to feel good, then I just end up feeling miserable. Anyway...I have just spilled my guts. But I feel that this is what I have to do in order to get back on track. If I don't get off this train..I'm going to be right back where I started a year from now at nearly 400 pounds. I gain weight at warp speed when I am not trying to lose it (sometimes as much as 8-10 pounds a week)! Good to talk to you all again. Wheets, can't wait to hear from you. Robyn

Hi Guys- Wanted to give a quick update. I had my surgery on Tuesday. Thought it would be the usual in and out, but they didn't perform it laproscopically. I have a 2-3 inch incision and it hurt WAY more than any of the other surgeries. I guess he wanted to make sure he got in there and fixed it for good this time. After the surgery, they could NOT get my pain under control for anything....SO, I ended up spending the night on a morphine pump. Funny, in one of my previous posts I think I was joking about a pain pump, then I ended up being put on one. He said the tubing had definitely broken through all the layers of my abdomen except for my skin of course. That's why it was hurting again so much. He stitched me up instead of using the usual staples....so that's kind of nice, as I haven't had to be bothered by the pulling sensation that those staples cause until they come out. Anyway, I'm at home, tired...but doing fine.

:thinkStill here...Unfortunately......IN PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He took one look at me and said "Let's get you scheduled." That was answered prayer, because of the hoops I had to jump through last time. My surgery is scheduled for Friday, June 22nd. He was all booked up until then. So I have gone through almost 2 bottles of Hydrocodone in a week. I am taking sleeping pills to sleep through the night, and I have make-shift pressure dressing that I put over the incision that is herniated. If I push on it really hard, it seems to feel better. The biggest struggle is the depression....I'm telling you what, this is the worst pain I've been through yet. I can't seem to get through the day without meds....I can't take them when I work, and I've got over a week to go. Oh well...but to answer your question, yes I am still here:cry

Angela- I have those same questions I plan on asking tomorrow. Sad thing was, after the last surgery a year ago, I was so glad to have everything "fixed", I never even took the time to ask HOW it was fixed. I know I remember having A LOT more pain with the 4th surgery than with any of the others, and he made the comment something to the effect that he stitched the beJesus out of that weakened/herniated area. After researching on line, I don't know if he put any mesh over it or anything. Now I'm kicking myself for not at least asking what procedure was done at the time...... All I know is that I am in so much pain I can hardly stand it. I just hope it doesn't turn into one of those appointments tomorrow where I have to go for several tests to confirm blah blah blah before I even get a surgery date scheduled. Gotta do something soon or I'm going to lose it:help: I'm praying that this will somehow be covered by insurance, although I'm not holding my breath.

While researching the net, I found this very interesting........ "Fortunately, incisional hernia rates after laparoscopic surgery is rare (1%), and if it does occur, it is in a tiny incision that is easily repaired as an outpatient with a less than 1% recurrence rate." Can you believe that???? Not only am I part of the 1% that gets the "rare" thing, but then I am am also part of the only 1% (of the 1%) that has it reoccur. Amazing.....................:faint:

Hi Guys- I've fallen off the wagon, face first. I haven't been on here because I've been too depressed to talk. Long story short.....I got too tight about 3 months ago and started vomiting 6+ times a day for really no reason, then went to have 1 cc taken out. Since that time (about 2 months ago) I have gained back 33 pounds:eek: I have no desire whatsoever to do this anymore. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired:think Now last night, I felt my lap band tubing "POP" through my abdominal muscle wall once again. I was supposed to have had that fixed during my last surgery, but evidently my muscle wall is still too weak. Now I'm in excruciating pain....rolling over in bed at night wakes me up screaming in pain...... Now I'm facing another surgery I'm sure in order to get the dang thing fixed again....I'm feeling frumpy, fat, depressed, and broken. I called Dr. H's office and have an appointment Monday....:help:
