I agree with Miss Mac - no processed foods! Only fresh. Also keep in mind that muscle weighs a lot so you may not be loosing because you are gaining muscle with your workouts.

Getting sleeved tomorrow!
twinhappy replied to madferitchick's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck! You won't regret the decision :-) -
You sound normal to me. That is how I felt around that time too. You will slowly be able to get more in. Just keep up with the protein shakes :-)

Post-op periods
twinhappy replied to Stephanie Stroup McIntosh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My period was 3 months late after my surgery. The cramps for horrible! So bad I actually stayed home from work one day (I never have to do that). We will see what the next period brings....... -
Smooth Move tea - it tastes good and moves you along. Granted, you will probably go 2 or 3 times from one cup and it takes a few hours to get working. I drink mine at night before I go to bed when needed and then I am ususually going to the bathroom by the time I wake up.

Personal female question

Gallbladder removal isn't standard. I still have mine. I would ask your OBGYN about the discharge. -
Mine was yogurt.

Gas - Surgery Date 3/31
twinhappy replied to amchurch12000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 months out and I burp every time I drink water. I just let it out quietly so I don't have to worry about gas X. I am pretty sure you can't OD on it. That is what they told me after my surgery. -
If you are getting in all your protein and water I wouldn't be worried about the calories at all. I am 3 months out and I still can't get all my protein and water in!

I have a desk job and assumed I'd be okay to return to work after one week. I wasn't ready but had to go back anyway because I didn't file FMLA paperwork (since I assumed one week would be good enough). I really wish I would have taken two weeks off. If you can, take two weeks!

Struggling...needing encouragement
twinhappy replied to jcbrittain2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The shoulder pain is gas. I had it for almost a week post-op. I had a really rough time the first 10 days or so. Just know that each day you get through is one day closer to you feeling great! You just have to keep going......sip Water as much as possible, take your Vitamins, do Protein shakes in small amounts all throughout the day. Hang in there! -
I actually ate baby food sometimes when I was in your stage. I had to add a bit of salt to it though. Any type of babyfood that has some Protein it it and very soft chunks or noodles. I can't remember if it was stage 2 or 3. I also still enjoy baby applesauce and I'm 2 months out.

I have been dying to eat some popcorn. Haven't dared to yet though since I am only 2 months post-op. I hope you feel better soon!

How old are/were you?
twinhappy replied to ELI.p.m's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was a month from my 39th bday. -
How long did you wait before you had any alcohol? Did the effects set in quicker? I am only two months out and I know I won't try any time soon. I'm just hoping I don't have to wait a year. Thanks!

There are a few different blenders out there for smoothies. Vitamix, Ninja, Magic Bullet, Cuisinart, etc. Which one have you found that works the best for making smoothies? I have a regular Kitchenaid blender that works okay but it is big and annoying to wash out the pitcher (if that's what you call it) all the time. I would like to get one of the compact units that makes the smoothie directly in the cup you can drink out of.

Where to get protein foods and samples
twinhappy replied to MacMadame's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thank you! -
Is there anyone here that went through True Results - the Duluth (Atlanta Area) location?

I wasn't assigned a surgery date until I had an approval from my insurance company. My guess is that they will call you once that approval comes in.

What were you allowed on pre-op liquid diet?
twinhappy replied to asidle82's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For my 2 day pre-op liquid diet I could have Protein shakes, sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, 100% fruit juice, Water, water + sugar free flavorings. Oh, and broth. It sucked but I did loose 5 pounds that weekend. -
Smooth Move tea did the trick for me.

Things you wish someone had told you?
twinhappy replied to Joey Jackson's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in and out within 6 hours so I didn't need to bring anything with me. I wish I had known how painful the gas pains would be when I woke up. My left shoulder and neck were killing me! Also, I wish I had taken two weeks off work instead of just one. Lastly, the drainage tube is sooo annoying but it didn't hurt a bit when they removed it. Good luck! -
I have BCBS and they did not contact me. I had to hear from the doc's office that it was aproved. Good Luck!

Time off post op
twinhappy replied to theskinnyone's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took one week off but I now wish I would have planned to take 2 weeks. -
8 days post-op and MISERABLE
twinhappy replied to twinhappy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you so much to everyone who has responded. Today is a new day and I actually feel a lot better than yesterday. I still have some gas to work out of my system but I am walking a lot to get rid of it. And I ate soup yesterday! Granted it was about 2 tablespoons worth but it felt so good to actually "eat" something. Thanks again!
