  1. I have been treated for depression for several years. I have not had any absorption issues but have read that some anti-depression medications need to be adjusted after the person has taken them for awhile. If you think there is an efficacy problem and your depression appears to be more challenging to deal with on your own, call the Doctor. Depression is not something you want to loosen your grip on.

    Incision site problem

I hope it clears up fast, good luck and prayers coming your way.
  3. BarryW, Christinamo7, 2GoldenGirl, all your reccomendations and suggestions are much appreciated. The complications from the hip revision surgery have left my range of mobility diminishing rather than improving and advancing. Thank you for the information, I will discuss this matter further with my Physical Therapist and my Doctor. As far as the protein mentioned by 2Goldengirl, I have a whey liquid protein(42g) in the am and my whey protein shake at night. The Optimum Nutrition Salted Caramel flavor is my favorite and it acts as a "sweet treat" at night. May I congratulate all of you are your weight losses!
  4. Status: (Liz5012) Hi All, I haven't been on for awhile but where else can I go for a little guidance? My weight has gone up from 142 to 155 lbs in the last four months. I had a hip revision on October 1, 2015. A revision is when they have to remove one artificial hip that has failed and replace it with a new one. The damage was more than expected, due to complications it required repair of areas including my muscles, tissue and quad. For the first three and a half months I was resting 23 out of 24 hours a day. I have been at my husband's mercy for four months with my food. No matter what I ask for he buys what he wants. He thinks he is being nice, but no matter what I say nothing works. I have been having food that I would not normally buy...prepared, breaded, minimal veggies, no sugar free, etc. I think my stomach may have stretched too. All of a sudden I can eat a full apple when I used to be able to eat a third of a regular size. My mobility has been minimal as my hip is not healing as fast as hoped. I go to Physical Therapy but am very limited. I am unable to walk great distances and am allowed to ride an exercise bike for ten minutes on level one. My gastric sleeve was done December 30, 2014 and everything was going great until this happened. I need advice how to start getting back on track with so little support. I was thinking of having Stop & Shop deliver as Whole Foods doesn't. Should I start back with liquids? I have been drinking my protein shake everyday. Any suggestions or advice would be welcome. Thanks!
  5. They do but I am not a viable candidate for water therapy at this time. Keeping my fingers crossed that that will change soon.
  6. Jamie Logical, VDLT, Margie122, Happy to say I am back on track! I have only lost two pounds so far, but being sedentary 75% of the time it is okay. Your suggestions and comments helped me explan to my husband the problems he was causing. I printed them up, sat down with the remarks and went over them so that he could understand what serious work WLS requires. He is actually eating healthier and has lost five pounds! Facing another surgery in the fall for the hip, but with him supporting me and following Bariatric Pal, it should be fine. Now, if I could just start really exercising...PT is great but I am still so limited. Working my way around it, though! Thank you to you all!
  7. I had thought that by doing the stages starting with clear liquids it would accelerate my return to proper eating habits. My thought being that by going through each stage for three days it could be a relearning tool. I will research the "BACK ON TRACK" diet as you suggested; it would simplify the process. Thank you
  8. I do know what you mean. In August, I was experiencing that same urge to slip back into bad habits. There was some great support from one of the forums, that gave me an idea to just constantly remind myself what to do...every time I went to eat something that even in moderation would be bad for me, I thought of how my health and appearance had improved by choosing all good thing protein and vegetable! I treat my protein shake as treat by adding fresh fruit, my milk and lots of ice...it is icy cold and taste like a frappe, that is what we call them here in New England, I think they are ice cream shakes, cabinets, milk shakes, egg creams, etc. only Americans could find so many names for one item! Even being in the hospital for a week due to my hip replacement needing to be replaced because it corroded and gave me metal poisoning, my husband brought me my shake every day! If you fall off, don't beat yourself up, just get back on track! I have been on bed rest for a month and friends have been cooking unhealthy meals to help out, I take a "no thank you" bite and move on. It is especially hard to do when it is something sweet, that is my weakness. I am still struggling, and am terrified that I may have gained weight being so sedentary, I have not gained, but then I haven't lost either. Are you still keeping a food journal? If not, start with that, prepare the next day's lunch and snack the day before. Write down your planned meals for the next day or better yet for the week, once it is written commit to the journal. I hope some of this is helpful, remember, you have already succeeded by committing to the surgery and the new healthier life, so you know you can finish what you started! Best of luck! Think of those milestones...This is the first time that I can remember that I have a "normal" calf and I love it! Just keep reminding yourself of the sense of joy and accomplishment whenever you stray!

    4 week check up

How scary! It is good to know that you are ok. Congratulations on the weight loss and listening to your body!
  11. Pureed chili? It may be too soon for that, you could check. I ate the chili from Wendy's or I made it myself. Great source of protein and Fibre. If you have Syntax, they make some wonderful flavors like Fuzzy Navel, Ice Tea, etc. that you can mix with water. Whey Protein is the most important as you know, Fishpond or Australian Sports Nutrition near you? Just watch those protein grams! They can vary so much! I believe that they are NZ or AU based. If not close, you more than likely order online. They may carry some of the brands that have been suggested or can help you with suggestions. Good Luck!

    Calling All Sixties!

What a challenging year you have had! Please accept my sympathy n the passing of your husband. Two major surgeries in one year, my you must be very strong, both emotionally and physically. My sleeve plan dictates no sugar or only have sugar when it is 13g or less per serving. Sugar can slow your weight loss, have you tried to use an alternative? I was sleeved in December 2014. It is challenging at times to keep track of everything, but so important, it keeps you thinking about what you are eating. Another suggestion is to increase your activity, that may kick start your metabolism. I have been stuck for awhile, at my weight, but I am not allowing it to get to me. I am having a hip replacement replacement done on October1st. Due to my implant failure my activity has become limited, so I will be concerned about my weight.
  14. you may be better off going to Boston if you aren't comfortable with Rhode Islan Doctors.
  15. My nutritionist is also a Physicians Assistant. She answers every question and makes suggestions that have been very helpful. As part of my program, I was expected to meet with her every every 6-8 weeks, the first 5 months Post Op and now every three months. We go over the weight loss and any problems or concerns I may have incurred since my last visit. All of the Nutritionists associated with the Weight Loss Surgery Center have advanced training beyond their four year degree. They work with the Surgeons, the experience has been invaluable.
  16. I find it can be too strong for me and have to add more liquid than the back of the packet indicates. Love the Fuzzy Navel!
  17. This weight loss stall is just temporary. If I keep reminding myself of that, i won't get frustrated!

    Calling All Sixties!

I find that my weight loss has slowed just in the past six weeks. I have stalled for the past five weeks. For a couple of weeks due to a family situation i did very little exercising. I know that when I don't move around enough, it slows the weight loss, not drinkig my daily 64 ounces of water will also slow it down. I have heard so many great things about Fitness Pal , I use Fat Secret.
  20. I held a very high position at a Fortune 500 Company and world travel was part of the job. I HAD to dress well so I can understand spending alot of money on clothes, but $30,000.00? If you have it and can do it good for you! I have always been a bargain hunter. I discovered that the Salvation Army has incredible options and agree that high end second hand shops are amazing for incredible buys. they have a great selection of clothing that I can now wear. I know it is not for everyone, but it works for me. I also made quite a bit of money selling my items on Ebay. Ebay is also great for other favorites of mine, Eileen Fisher, J Jill, Soft Surroundings and Talbots. Pinterest has quite a few boards that show you how what pieces to buy and how to build outfits with those items.
  21. I just had this said to me today: "you really didn't have much to lose, did you, you didn't look it." Ok, being under 5'2", and weighing over 200 lb, was thin? I love stupid comments, they make me smile.

I just discovered this group and am hoping that by communicating with others in my age group will make my continuing weight loss more successful and encouraging. I was sleeved 12/30/2014 and have lost 65lbs so far.
