    Weight loss, sleeve vs bypass

I would strongly encourage you to research which is best for you. I chose VSG because I didn't want to have the resection of my intestines. I also thought that losing weight a little slower would reduce my chances for sagging skin. Good luck with whatever you choose. I'm only 4 weeks out and down a little more than 30 pounds since surgery.

No energy and 4 days post op!

Definitely call your surgeon. I'm 3 weeks post op and went to see my PCP. She started B12 injections today, as I had been extremely exhausted. I am praying it helps!

    Day one post op

I ended up staying 2 nights in the hospital due to nausea. For me once the general anesthesia wore off, I was great! Congrats on your decision and the best to you.

    April 10th consultation

This is major surgery and you should have complete confidence in your surgical team. I'm not sure if you do. However, if there is any doubt $400 is a small price to pay for piece of mind.

Lap band out / sleeve in

My surgeon advises to take a chewable Pepcid twice a day for at least 6 months post op. Even with that my sleeve roars, gurgles, and is down right loud. You should speak to your doctor to see if he/she has some recommendations. Good luck!

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

My hospital gave me a wrist band and patch; I've taken them both off without any issues. I believe the general anesthetic cause the nausea in the beginning. I have been taken Pepcid twice a day and have had no further incident of nausea. I take something for pain at bedtime for my abdominal muscles and that helps me sleep. The best to you all!

    HAD SURGERY 3/31/15

My surgery was also 3/31. I have the tightness mid chest wihen drinking. It was bad at first and it doesn't happen with each drink now. The general anesthesia made me extremely nauseous and I stayed in the hospital 2 nights. It is much better now. I have some pain when sitting up and walking, each day is a little better. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone.
  10. I had my pre op visit today and my surgeon point out that I carry a lot out weight in my hips, he called it "hippie". He then made the comment that people who carry their weight in their hips tend to lose weight more slowly and stressed that I must strictly adhere to the plan in order to lose the weight. I totally trust him and his expertise, but I would like to hear from you all as well. So....to the "hippie" WLS ppl, what has been your experience?
  11. Sounds like your doing GREAT brightlife0305! Thanks for the info!
  12. MichiganChic congrats on your success and thanks for sharing!
  13. Awesome @ Elode! Do you have any suggestions on keeping hips and thighs firm?
  14. Thanks BLERDgirl! My surgery is 3/31 and that statement had my a little worried. I appreciate your response!
  15. I'm also scheduled for March 31st, with pre op tomorrow. I'm super EXCITED! My husband just had his on March 6th and I was anxious and nervous and every other emotion you can think of, so I got that out of the way with him. My motto is the positivity breeds positivity. Think good thoughts and image yourself doing well postoperatively. Also, remember why you're doing this...a better quality of life! (For most ppl). Also, think of all the wonderful things you'll gain. I wish you a successful journey on your new path of life. May the road rise to meet you!
  16. I'm 2 days in and I'm starting to understand! For me, it about more than shrinking my fatty liver. It's the beginning of mental preparation too. Two Proteins and a meal a day, I thought it would be easy. It's more challenging mentally. I eat dinner and have the shakes for Breakfast and lunch. My head is telling me that I'm hungry because I haven't had anything to "chew". But after really thinking about it I know it just my head talking. I'm gateful to have this gift, a tool to starting a better life. I'm so thankful for the diet, even though it's not easy. I know this is preparing me for the road I'm traveling to a better life and hopefully a little easier post op (mentally). if your going through the pre op diet phase, hang in there and find the beauty in every part of the journey. Best wishes!

The purpose of pre op dieting

Pre op day 13- Need advice!

I was told protein and water were important for your hair and skin elasticity, so for those reasons alone I'm forcing them down. I'm on my pre op diet as well, not quite as far along as you are. I would just encourage you to stick to the recommendations as closely as possible. The best to you!

The purpose of pre op dieting

Thanks so much WingFan55! My husband is about 2 weeks post op and he struggled mentally, as to figuring out what was head hunger and true hunger. That really afforded me the opportunity to come in eyes wide open (at his expense). I'm very optimistic about our future and you should as well. There were times when I wondered if this was the right decision, but not doing it is making the choice of not experimenting my best life. I applaud your decision and pray the best for you.

    Just Decide

I absolutely LOVE your post! Ida's also encouraged. It's wonderful to encourage others as you encourage yourself...it's a nice "extra" incentive! The best to you!

    Waiting for surgery date

My date is March 31st, I start my pre op diet Tuesday! My husband is about 10 days post op and I'm afraid I won't do as we'll as he has. He says that I've had a baby so I'll be fine, LOL! He has had no problems getting his fluids or protien in. I was almost thinking something was wrong because it all went so smoothly. His struggle is more mental. I say think positively, there will be bumps in the road on your journey. I'd much rather deal with those opposed to the issues that come with staying obese. Good luck to you all!
  23. So excited that I got my surgery date today, March 31st! My husband had his on March 5th, so I'm happy to start the journey with him and all of you! The best to every March Sleever.

    Avmed H M O anyone?

One more thing.... A thorough psych eval is not a bad thing. I had a doctor who basically sad I wasn't crazy, so I was a good candidate. More information could have been helpful. Hopefully you can submit a little sooner if your policy has changed as well!
